LUGARES DE SELLADO OFICIAL DE LA CREDENCIAL DE
PEREGRINO
El peregrino puede sellar su paso por Castronuño en cualquier establecimiento de la localidad, pero
sólo en dos lugares rubricará su credencial con el sello oficial municipal del Camino de Santiago.
Uno de los lugares es el Ayuntamiento, situado en C/ Real Nº 82, con horario de lunes a viernes de
8:00 a 15:00 horas.
El otro lugar es el Bar Gómez (conocido popularmente en el pueblo como “El Triángulo”), situado en
C/ Mesones Nº 82, con horario de lunes a domingo de 9:00 a 23:00 horas.

AYUNTAMIENTO
El AYUNTAMIENTO es un moderno edificio que en su planta baja alberga la Oficina de Información
y Turismo (meses de verano), Correos y la Biblioteca Municipal, dotada de ordenadores
disponibles para el público. El entorno del ayuntamiento dispone de servicio wifi gratuito.

ERMITA DEL CRISTO
La "Ermita del Cristo" (hoy llamada también "Santa Mª del Castillo") es una magnífica construcción
en sillarejo del siglo XIII de estilo románico construida por la Orden de San Juan. Fue declarado
monumento Histórico - Artístico por decreto de 5 de junio de 1962. En su interior, destaca la
imagen de un Cristo gótico de influencia renana del siglo XIV. Apostada en lo alto del Parque de la
Muela, la Ermita del Cristo es testigo del lento y sinuoso discurrir de las aguas del Duero a su paso
por Castronuño, donde el río forma un meandro de espectacular belleza.

CASA DE LA RESERVA

La "Casa de la Reserva" es el centro de interpretación del espacio natural protegido “Riberas de
Castronuño-Vega de Duero”, declarado Reserva Natural en el año 2002. En ella se podrá encontrar
información sobre distintas rutas y senderos para quien quiera conocer más a fondo el entorno. Los
amantes de la ornitología también tienen aquí su espacio, ya que la reserva alberga gran cantidad
de especies de aves, algunas de ellas protegidas por su escaso número. Cabe destacar la
emblemática garza imperial.

PARQUE DE LA MUELA
El Parque de La Muela es uno de los lugares más emblemáticos y pintorescos de Castronuño. Su
situación privilegiada sobre el gran meandro del Duero, el más grande de Europa, hace de este
lugar el sitio ideal para relajarse disfrutando de la belleza del paisaje. Contemplar los amaneceres y
atardeceres desde sus miradores es una experiencia difícil de olvidar.
El subsuelo del municipio está repleto de un entramado de bodegas escavadas en la tierra. Algunas
de ellas son parte de antiguos túneles y pasadizos subterráneos de la fortaleza que ocupó este
paraje en el Medievo. Hoy en día se utilizan como merenderos y para guardar el vino. Las
chimeneas que inundan el paisaje del parque son los respiraderos de dichas bodegas.

LAS ESCUELAS MUNICIPALES
Las escuelas municipales, hoy en día integradas en el C.R.A Gran Florida, es un edificio construido en
el año 1933, en el lugar donde se encontraba la desaparecida iglesia-fortaleza "Santa Mª del
Castillo". Las piedras que aparecen en la fachada son restos de las utilizadas en esa antigua
construcción.
ANTIGUA CASA DEL COMENDADOR
La Casa del antiguo comendador, situada en la Calle Real, conserva parte de su arco de entrada y
escudo de la Orden de San Juan. Hoy en día el edificio es un obrador donde, entre otros productos,
se elaboran los típicos "molletes" (bollo dulce anisado), que sin duda ayudarán al peregrino a
recuperar fuerzas.

ANTIGUO HOSPITAL DE PEREGRINOS
El antiguo hospital de peregrinos, situado también en la Calle Real, es hoy un edificio de viviendas
particulares conocido popularmente en el pueblo como "La Puerta del Hospital". Este aún conserva
sobre la puerta una antigua vieira que da fe de su importancia en otros tiempos.
FUENTES
Antiguas fuentes como la de "El Caño”, "La Salud" y "San Lázaro" pueden refrescar al peregrino. La
fuente de "El Caño” está situada en las inmediaciones del casco urbano y destaca por su bella
construcción y entorno. La fuente de "La Salud", a la que se accede desde el Parque de La Muela,
adentrará al visitante en una senda caracterizada por una vegetación de bosque de ribera, que
acabará prácticamente en la orilla del río. Desde allí se podrá contemplar una vista del río y el
carrizal difícil de olvidar. La fuente de "San Lázaro" se encuentra situada en el mismo Camino de
Santiago una vez se haya dejado atrás Castronuño. Esta fuente, con más de dos siglos de existencia
documentada, es la más antigua del municipio.
Todas estas fuentes fueron utilizadas en tiempos pasados como lugares de abastecimiento de la
población, así como de lavaderos.

PISCINAS
La PISCINA MUNICIPAL se encuentra en las inmediaciones del Albergue. En la época estival supone
una buena opción para relajarse dándose un baño o para refrescarse tomando un refresco en la
terraza de su bar.
El COMPLEJO ACUÁTICO GRAN FLORIDA se encuentra en la ctra. Alaejos – Toro, Km 17, apenas a
dos kilómetros de Castronuño. Es un parque acuático formado por 3 piscinas y 2 toboganes. Una de
las piscinas y un tobogán están destinados especialmente a los niños. En el interior del recinto se
puede también disfrutar de amplias zonas verdes, zona de bar y terraza en la que se ofrece servicio
de bocatería y ensaladas.
Estas instalaciones permanecen abiertas al público desde el 1 de julio al 31 de agosto desde las 12h
hasta las 20h.

PRESA DE SAN JOSE
La Presa de San José fue construida entre los años 1941 y 1945 para la puesta en funcionamiento de
la central hidroeléctrica y los canales de riego de “San José” y de “Toro”. El embalsamiento de las
aguas del Duero ha dado origen a lo que hoy es la Reserva Natural “Riberas de Castronuño Vega de
Duero”, debido a que este nuevo ecosistema ha creado el hábitat propicio para la proliferación de
gran cantidad de especies de aves, algunas de ellas especies protegidas.

DEHESA DE CARMONA
La dehesa de Carmona, situada entre los términos municipales de Castronuño y Alaejos, consta de
310 hectáreas de pastos milenarios de gran valor ecológico, propiedad del ayuntamiento de
Castronuño. En la actualidad, está arrendada para la cría de Toros de Lidia.

VINOS
Castronuño es una zona de tradición vitivinícola. Sus viñedos forman parte de la “Denominación
de Origen Rueda”, aunque la mayoría de los cultivos de vid pertenecen a pequeñas
explotaciones familiares para autoconsumo. Se cultivan diversas variedades de uva, entre las
que destaca la uva de “Albillo”.
Hay dos bodegas en Castronuño que elaboran caldos de gran calidad. Una es “Bodegueros
Quinta Esencia”, que comercializa entre otros los vinos “Sofros” (tinto) y “Al-Nabiz” (blanco). La
otra es “Finca La Rinconada”, que desde su bodega en pleno corazón de la Reserva Natural
elabora el vino “Barcolobo”. ¡No pierda la oportunidad de degustar estos caldos en los
establecimientos de la localidad!

GASTRONOMÍA
España se caracteriza por ser un país donde, en cualquiera de sus regiones, puedes degustar una
gran variedad de platos que harán las delicias de cualquier paladar. Castronuño es otro ejemplo
de este buen yantar dentro de la variada y saludable dieta mediterránea. Si vienes en invierno,
podrías degustar un delicioso cocido castellano o las típicas patatas de matanza, con sangre e
hígado de cerdo, y por supuesto cualquier producto derivado del mismo, como el chorizo
casero, elaborado al estilo tradicional en las casas de nuestros vecinos. Si por el contrario
llegaras en la época estival, tal vez te apetezca una buena y refrescante ensalada de la huerta,
llena de sabor a tomate y lechuga de verdad. No dejes de probar el Queso HERMAR, elaborado
artesanalmente en la quesería del lugar. El producto típico de Castronuño por excelencia y
tradición es el Mollete, un riquísimo bollo anisado ideal para el desayuno o merienda. Puedes
encontrarlo en la Panadería MARIPÁN. La Repostería
es lo más parecido al paraíso de
los Golosos. Allí se elaboran todo tipo de dulces combinando la tradición y los nuevos sabores.

EL CAMINO DE LEVANTE A CABALLO
El Camino de Santiago de Levante, que se inicia en Valencia, es el primer Camino de Santiago
homologado como itinerario ecuestre por la Real Federación Hípica Española (RFHE), por lo que es
la ruta ecuestre homologada más larga de España con más de 1.100 kilómetros. Cada vez son más
los peregrinos a caballo que hacen parada en Castronuño en su camino a Santiago.
Castronuño es un municipio con gran tradición ecuestre, donde el cuidado y estancia de los equinos
está garantizado puesto que cuenta con establecimientos específicos del mundo del caballo como
herradores, veterinarios y posadas ecuestres.

GEOCACHING “RIBERAS DE CASTRONUÑO”
El Geocaching es un juego en el que todos los peregrinos que recorren el Camino de Levante
pueden participar a su paso por Castronuño. Este juego consiste en buscar un pequeño recipiente
oculto mediante la utilización de GPS. Dentro del recipiente hay un bolígrafo, una libreta a modo de
libro de visitas junto a pequeños y simpáticos tesoros. Quien encuentre el Geocaching podrá
llevarse uno de los objetos que contiene, pero a cambio ha de dejar otro en su lugar (ejemplo:
llaveros, pins, chapas, pulseras, etc…).
En la busca del Geocaching de Castronuño el peregrino descubrirá algunos de los más bellos y
sorprendentes rincones de toda la comarca.

The pilgrim can get a stamp to prove their pass through Castronuño at any shop in the village, but the
official one to stamp your pilgrim´s card can only be obtained in two places.
One of the places is the Town Hall, situated in 82 Real Street, from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 15:00
pm.
The other place is Gómez Bar (known popularly in the village as “El Triángulo”), which is situated in 82
Mesones street, from Monday to Sunday, from 9:00 am to 23:00 pm.
Le pèlerin peut sceller son passage par Castronuño dans tous les établissements de la localité, mais
seulement dans deux lieux ils pourront sceller leurs cartes d'informations d'identification du pèlerins avec le
tampon officiel municipal du Chemin de Saint Jacques.
Un des lieux officiel est la Mairie, située C/Real Nº 82, l'horaire d'ouverture est de 8:00 à 15:00 heures du
lundi au vendredi.
L'autre lieux est le Bar Gómez (plus connue dans le village comme le “Triangulo”, situé C/Mesones Nº 82
l'horaire d'ouverture est de 9:00 à 23:00 heures.

TOWN HALL/MAIRIE
The TOWN HALL is a modern building where you can find the tourist office on the ground floor (just in
summer months). There you can also find the post office and the library with available computers for the
public. Around the Town Hall you can get free wifi service.
La Mairie est un établissement moderne où se trouve également au rez-de-chaussée le bureau
d'information et de tourisme (durant les mois d'été), la Poste et la Bibliothèque municipale, équipés
d'ordinateurs accessibles au public. Les environs de la Mairie propose une connexion Wi-Fi gratuite.

CHRIST CHAPEL /CHAPELLE DU CHRIST
The “ Christ Chapel” (nowadays also called “Saint Mary of the Castle”) is a fantastic building made in
blocks of stone in the 13th century in the Romanic style built by the Saint John Order.
It was declared Historical- Artistic monument by the executive order of the 5th of June, 1962. Inside the
chapel, the image of a Gothic Christ with Rhenish influence of the14th stands out. Located in the highest part
of La Muela Park, the Christ Chapel is witness of the slow and sinuous flow of the Duero river water as it goes
along Castronuño, where the river forms a spectacularly beautiful meander.
La « Chapelle du Christ" (aujourd'hui aussi appelé « Santa Mª del Castillo ») est une magnifique
construccion de bloque de pierre du XIII siécle de style roman construite par l'ordre de Saint-Jean. Elle a été
déclaré monument historique - artistique par décret du 5 juin 1962. Dans son intérieur, elle met en valeur
l'image de l'influence rhénane du Christ gothique du XIVe siècle. Située sur le haut du Parc de la Muela, la
Chapelle du Christ est témoin du cours lent et sinueux, des eaux du Duero qui traversent Castronuño, où la
rivière forme un méandre d'une beauté spectaculaire.

The “House of the Natural Reservoir” is the centre for the interpretation of the protected natural space
called “Riberas de Castronuño-Vega de Duero”, declared Natural Reservoir in the year 2002. There you will
be able to get information about different routes and paths for those who want to know this natural
environment more deeply. Lovers of bird-watching have an interesting place here for their hobby, as the
reservoir is home for a great number of birds, some of which are protected due to their scarce number. It is
worth to mention the purple heron.
La « maison de l'espace naturel » est le centre d'interprétation de la zone naturelle protégée « Riberas
de Castronuño-Vega de Duero », déclaré réserve naturelle en 2002. Vous y trouverez l' information sur les
différents itinéraires et sentiers pour tous ceux qui veulent en savoir plus sur l'environnement. Amoureux de
l'ornithologie ont ici aussi leur espace, étant donné que la réserve abrite de nombreuses espèces d'oiseaux,

LA MUELA PARK/LE PARC LA MUELA
La Muela Park is one of the most emblematic and picturesque in Castronuño. Its exceptional location
over the big meander in Duero River, the biggest in Europe, makes this place the perfect one to relax
enjoying the beauty of the landscape. Watching the sunrise and the sunset from its viewpoints is an
unforgettable experience.
The underground of the village is full of a net of caves dug in the land. Some of them are part of ancient
underground tunnels and passages of the castle which once existed in this village in the Middle Ages.
Nowadays they are used as wine cellars to store wine and also as places to get together with your friends to
enjoy a nice meal. The great number of chimneys you can see in the park are the places where the air gets
into the caves.
Le parc de la Muela est l'un des plus emblématiques et pittoresque de Castronuño. Son emplacement sur
le grand méandre du Duero, le plus grand d’Europe, rend l'endroit idéal pour vous détendre en appréciant la
beauté du paysage. Regardez les levers et couchers du soleil depuis leur belvédères est une expérience
inoubliable. Le sous-sol de la municipalité regorge d'un réseau d'établissements vinicoles creusés dans la
terre. Certains d'entre eux font partie des anciens tunnels et passages souterrains de la forteresse qui a
occupé ce lieu au moyen-âge. Aujourd'hui, ils sont utilisés comme aires de pique-nique et pour conserver le
vin. Les cheminées qui remplissent le paysage du parc sont les évents de ces caves.

PUBLIC SCHOOL/L'ÉCOLEMUNICIPALE
The public school is today part of the “C.R.A Gran Florida” (a group of schools formed by different schools
of the area). The building was built in 1933 in the place where once was the disappeared church-fortress
called "Santa Mª del Castillo". The stones of its front are remains of those used in the old construction.
L'école publique fait partie aujourd'hui du C.R.A “Gran Florida" (un groupe d'écoles formé par différentes
écoles de la région). Le bâtiment a été construit en 1933 dans le lieu où avant se trouvait l'Église-forteresse
disparue appelé « Santa Mª del Castillo ». Les pierres de sa façade sont les restes de celles utilisés dans
l'ancienne construction.
OLD HOUSE OF THE KNIGHT COMMANDER
ANCIENNE MAISON DU COMMANDANT
The old knight commander´s house , located in Real street, keeps part of its entrance arch and the coat of
arms belonging to Saint John`s order. Nowadays the building is a bakery where, among other products, the
typical “molletes” (sweet bread with aniseed flavour) are elaborated, which without any doubt will help the pilgrim
to recover strength.
L'ancienne maison du commandant est située dans la rue Real, elle conserve son arc d'entrée et les
armoiries appartenant à l'ordre de Saint-Jean. Le bâtiment est aujourd'hui une boulangerie où, parmi
d'autres produits, sont élaborés les typiques "molletes" (pain sucré avec saveur anisée), qui, sans aucun
doute, va aider au pèlerin a récupérer ses forces.

OLD HOSPITAL FOR PILGRIMS/ANCIENS HÔPITAL DU PÉLERIN
The old hospital for pilgrims, also situated in Real Street, is nowadays a building of private houses known
in the village as “the door of the hospital”. It still has got an old pilgrim´s scallop on the door which testifies
the importance of the building in the past times.
L'ancien hòpital des pélerins est situé dans la rue Real, de nos jours c'est un goupe de maison privée
connue plus populairement, dans le village comme « La porte de l'hôpital ». Il conserve encore un pétoncle
ancien qui témoigne de son importance en d'autres temps, sur la porte.
FOUNTAINS/FONTAINES
Old fountains like "El Caño”, "La Salud" and "San Lázaro" can cool down the pilgrim.”El Caño” fountain is
situated inside the urban area and it stands out for its beautiful construction and the setting. If you want to
visit “La Salud” Fountain, you can do it going down a path starting at “La Muela” park . As you go down, you
will see the typical vegetation of a riverside forest. The path finishes practically at the river bank. From there
you will enjoy unforgettable views of the river and the reedbed. “San Lázaro” fountain is situated in The
Camino of Santiago itself once you have left Castronuño behind you. This fountain, whose existence can be
proved according to some documents two centuries ago, is the oldest in the village. All these fountains were
used in the past as places where the villagers could get water to drink or to wash their clothes.
Les anciennes fontaines comme « El Caño », « Santé » et « San Lázaro » peuvent rafraichir le pèlerin. La
fontaine de « El Caño » est située à proximité du centre-ville et est connue par sa belle construction et
environnement. La source de la « Santé », accessible depuis le parc de La Muela,où les visiteurs peuvent y
accéder par un chemin d'accès qui se caractérise par une végétation de forêt riveraine, se terminant
pratiquement sur la rive du fleuve. Ils y pourront admirer une vue de la rivière et des marais qui est difficile à
oublier. La fontaine de « San Lázaro » est située dans le chemin de Saint Jacques, une fois que l'on a quitté
Castronuño . Cette fontaine, avec plus de deux siècles d'existence documentée, est la plus ancienne de la
commune. Toutes ces fontaines ont été utilisées dans le passé par la population comme lavoir, mais aussi
comme puits de ravitaillement.

SWIMMINGPOOLS/PISCINES
The PUBLIC SWIMMINGPOOLS are situated very near the pilgrims´ lodging. During the summer time,
they are a good option to relax having a bath or to cool down having a fresh drink in the terrace bar.
La PISCINE MUNICIPALE se trouve à proximité de l'auberge. En été, cela suppose un bon choix pour se
détendre en prenant bon un bain ou pour se rafraîchir en prenant un rafraîchissement sur la terrasse de son
bar.
The GRAN FLORIDA WATER PARK is situated on the Km 17, Alaejos – Toro Road, just two kilometers from
Castronuño. This water park consists of three swimmpools and two water slides. One of the swimmingpools
and one water slide are especially for children. Inside the resort you can also enjoy wide green spaces, bar
and terrace zone where you could eat delicious sandwiches (“bocadillo”) and salads.
This aquatic complex will be open from July, 1st to August, 31st and from 12.00 pm till 20.00 pm.
Le COMPLEXE AQUATIQUE GRAN FLORIDA est situé dans la route Alaejos - Toro, 17 Km, à deux
kilomètres à peine de Castronuño. C'est un parc aquatique, qui est formé par 3 piscines et 2 toboggans. Une
des piscines et un toboggan sont destinés surtout aux enfants. À l'intérieur de l'enceinte, vous pourrez
également profiter de spacieux espaces verts, bar et terrasse qui offre un service de sandwichs et de
salades.Cet établissement est ouvert au public du 1 er juillet au 31 août de 12 h à 20 h.

SAN JOSE DAM/BARRAGE DE SAINT JOSE
San José Dam was built between 1941 and 1945 so as to make the hydroelectric power station work. “San
José” and “Toro” irrigation channels were also built at this time. The water of the dam in the Duero River
originated what is nowadays known as “Riberas de Castronuño Vega de Duero” Natural Reservoir, due to the
fact that this new environment created the perfect conditions for the proliferation of a great number of
birds, some of which are endangered species.
Le barrage de San Jose a été construit entre les années 1941 et 1945 pour l'opération de démarrage de la
centrale hydroélectrique et des canaux d'irrigation de « San José » et « Toro ». L'embaumement des eaux du
Duero a donné lieu à ce qui est maintenant la réserve naturelle « Riberas de Castronuño Vega de Duero », dû
à que ce nouvel écosystème a créé un habitat favorable pour la prolifération de nombreuses espèces
d'oiseaux, certains d'entre eux d'espèces protégées.

CARMONA MEADOW/PÂTURAGE DE CARMONA
The Carmona Meadow, situated between the municipal areas of Castronuño and Alaejos, is formed by
350 hectares (1 hectare is 2,471 acres) of thousand-year-old pasture with a great ecological value which
belongs to Castronuño Town Hall. Nowadays, it is hired for the breeding of fighting bulls.
Les pâturages de Carmona sont situés entre les comunes de Castronuño et Alaejos, ils ont 310 hectares
de pâturrage milenaires de grande valeur écologique, ils sont propriétés de la mairie de Castronuño.
Actuellement ils sont loués pour l'élevage de toros de combat.

WINES/VINS
Castronuño is a traditional wine zone. Its vineyards are part of the “Rueda Designation of Origin”,
although most of the vineyards belong to small family farms for self-consumption. Different varieties of
grapes are grown, among which “Albillo” variety stands out.
There are two companies dedicated to produce wines of a great quality. One is “Bodegueros Quinta
Esencia” , which commercializes, among others, wines like “Sofros” (red) and “Al-Nabiz” (white). The
other company is “Finca La Rinconada” , which produces “Barcolobo” wine from its wine cellar in the
heart of the Natural Reservoir. Don´t lose the opportunity to try these fantastic wines in the local bars
and restaurants!
Castronuño est une zone de tradition vinicole. Ses vignobles font partie de la “Dénomination
d'origine de RUEDA”, bien que la majorité des cultures de la vigne appartiennent à petites exploitations
familiales pour son propre usage. On y cultive différentes variétés de raisin, notamment “Albillo”. Il y a
deux caves à Castronuño, produisant des vins de grande qualité. L'un est “Bodegueros Quinta Esencia”,
qui vend entre autres vins “Sofros” (vin rouge) et “Al-Nabiz” (vins blancs). L'autre est “Finca La
Rinconada”, qui depuis sa cave en plein coeur de la Reserve naturelle elabore le vin “Barcolobo”.

GASTRONOMY/GASTRONOMIE
Spain is famous for its gastronomy. You can taste a great variety of delicious dishes at any region of
the country. Castronuño is just another example of these good dishes, part of the varied and healthy
Mediterranean diet. If you come in winter, you could taste the typical Castilian “cocido” (stew of soup,
chickpea, bacon and meat) or the typical “patatas de matanza”, potatoes with pork blood and liver. Of
course, you would like any food made from pork meat, for example, home-made “chorizo” (hard pork
sausage), elaborated following the traditional style in the houses of our villagers. If, on the contrary, you
arrive I summer time, perhaps you would like a good and refreshing salad made with products of the
vegetable garden, with real tomatoes and lettuce. Don´t forget to try the local HERMAR Cheese, made by
traditional methods. The most traditional product in Castronuño is the Mollete, tasty bread with anise
flavor ideal for breakfast or an afternoon snack. You can find it at MARIPÁN bakery.
Cakes are
the most similar place to the Paradise for sweet-toothed people. There they elaborate any kind of cakes
combining tradition and new flavours.
L'Espagne est célèbre pour sa gastronomie. Vous pourrez déguster une grande variété de plats
délicieux dans n'importe quelle région du pays. Castronuño est justement un autre exemple de ces bons
plats, qui font partie de la diète variée et saine méditerranéenne. Si vous venez en hiver, vous pourrez
déguster le typique "cocido" (ragoût de viande, de pois chiche, lard et de soupe) ou la typique « patatas
de matanza», pommes de terre avec du sang de porc et du foie. Bien sûr, vous aimeriez tout aliment
fabriqué à partir de viande de porc, comme par exemple, le "chorizo" fait maison (saucisse de porc dur),
élaboré suivant le style traditionnel dans les maisons de nos villageois. Si, au contraire, vous arrivez en
été, vous aimeriez peut-être une bonne et rafraîchissante salade préparée avec des produits du
pautager, avec des laitues et tomates au goût réels. N' oubliez pas de goûter le fromage local de
HERMAR, fait traditionnellement . Le produit le plus traditionnel à Castronuño est le Mollete, le
savoureux pain à la saveur d'anis idéal pour le petit déjeuner ou une collation de l'après-midi. Vous
pouvez le trouver dans la boulangerie MARIPÁN. La pâtisserie
est le paradis pour les
gourmants. On y élabore toute sorte de gâteau en combinant la tradition avec de nouvelle
saveurs.

THE CAMINO FROM LEVANTE ON HORSE/CHEMIN DU LEVANT À CHEVAL
The Camino of Santiago from Levante, which begins in Valencia, is the first Camino of Santiago officially
approved as an equestrian itinerary by The Royal Spanish Equestrian federation (RFHE). This fact turns this
route into the longest equestrian route officially approved in Spain with more than 1,100 km. Every time the
number of pilgrims who stop in Castronuño in their way to Santiago is bigger.
Castronuño is a village with a great equestrian tradition, where the care and stay of horses is guaranteed as
there are specific resources for horses like blacksmiths, vets and stables.

Le Chemin de Saint Jacques du Levant, qui débute à Valence, est le premier Chemin de Saint Jacques
approuvé comme équestre par la voie de la Fédération d'espagnol équestre royale (RFHE), donc c'est le plus
long en Espagne approuvés de l'itinéraire équestre avec plus de 1 100 km. De plus en plus de pèlerins à
cheval font une halte dans leur chemin à Castronuño.
Castronuño est un municipe avec une grande tradiition équestre, où le soins et le séjour des chevaux est
garantie dû à que l'on y compte avec des établissements spécifique du monde du cheval comme les
maréchaux-ferrants, les vétérinaires et des étables.

“RIBERAS DE CASTRONUÑO” GEOCACHE
GEOCACHING “RIBERAS DE CASTRONUÑO”
The Geocache is a game in which all the pilgrims of the Camino from Levante can participate as they
arrive in Castronuño. This game consists in looking for a small plastic tapper wear helped by the use of a GPS.
Inside the container there is a pen and a notebook to note down that you have found the geocache. There
are also small and funny treasures. The person who finds the geocache is allowed to take one of the objects
inside, but they will have to leave another one in return (for example: key rings, badgets, bracelets, etc…).
As the pilgrim goes in search of the geocache, they will discover some of the most beautiful and surprising
sites in the whole region.
