BARRIGA - El estudiante u n i v e r s i t a r i o , radicado y surgido dentro d e un determinado mundo c u l t u r a l , r e a c c i o n a por una p a r t e . irVidud1m:nte a l o s e s t í m u l o s d e l medio s o c i a l e n que v i v e (1). En l a r e s p u e s t a d e l e s t u d i a n t e toman p a r t e l o s " f a c t c res m o t i v a c i o n a l e s " ( 2 ) que i n f l u y e n d i r e c t a o i n d i r e c t a m e n t e e n l a f o r j a de s u p e r s o n a l i d a d . En l o s e l e m e n t o s c o n s t i t u t i v o a d e s u yo -quc ya t i e n c n f u e r t e cargazón s o c i a l - i n c i d e n l a p r e s i ó n d e l o s c o n d i c i o n a r ~ t c s d e l grupo u n i v e r s i t a r i o , d e l c l a n f a m i l i a r , d e l a s o c i e d a d en g g n e r a l . Pero a n t e s i n t e n t a r e m o s p r e c i s a r e l s t i p o d e percepcidn a que nos referimos. Si hubieramos d e s i t u a r n o s d e n t r o d e l a s c o r r i o n t e a d e firvestigacibn d e l a psicologLa americana s o b r e l a percepcldn ( 4 ) , d i r í a m o s que nos alejamos d e l a concepción t r a n s a c c i o n i s t a d e ITTELSON ( S ) , KILPATRICK (6) -dentro d e l a p s i c o l o g f a s o c i a l experimental- para a c e r c a r n o s a l a concepcidn "New Look" de BRUWR, POSTMAN ( 7 ) y KLEIN ( 8 ) . Entendemos l a percepcidn en s e n t i d o amplio. La p e r c e p c i d n que e s t r e c h a v f n c u l o s con c u a l q u i e r proceso cognitivo,'-con c u a l q u i e r r e p r e s e n t a c i ó n , imagen o j u i c i o , i n c l u s o d e v a l o r . A s 1 e n t e n d i d a , una t e o r f a d e l a percepcidn s e confunde oon une teorla d a l o a procasoti c o g n i t l v o u 1 9 ) . "La psychologie d e l a p e r c e p t i o n comporte l e domaine e n t i e r d e s a t t i t u d e s e t d e s o p i n i o n s , d e s jugements e t d e l a croyance" U O ) . Esta percepción h a l l a campo i d e a l d e e s t u d i o en l a i n t e r r e l a c i ó n . Tanto si e l o t r o d e l a r e l a c i d n es un i n d i v i d u o , como s i es un grupo, una i d e o l o g l a , una c u l t u r a o una sociedad. Instrumentos f a v o r i t o s para a n a l i z a r esta percepci6n aerBn l o s " e s t e r e o t i p o s " y l a "opIni6na. R. Tal a n á l i s i s r e s u l t a t a n t o más f r u c t f f e r o cuanto ne: cesariamente conviene i n t r o d u c i r d e l i m i t a c i o n e s conceptuales e n t r e l o s d i s t i n t o s kipos de percepci6n. trlantengamos l a nomenclatura genérica (percepción) e intentemos e s p e c i f i c a r . D e acuerdo que para que haya percepcidn se r e q u i e r e l a "presencia d e un eatPmuLoWen e l campo de "aprehensión sensg r i a l d e l s u j e t o " (133. Por o t r a p a r t e , ¿qué importancia t i e n e l a forma de P e r c i b i r e i o b j e t o para d e f i n i r l a percepción?. Pensamos que l a percepci6n p a r a , s e r t a l ha de s e r consciente para e l s u j e t o . Dicha consciencia puede s e r expljicita y hablaremos de percepcibn e x p l x c i t a ; o bien i m p l f c i t a y l a percepción ser$,pues, lmplfcita. - . ~a consc.i'enc.ia i m p i f c i t a s e r á detectada ,en e l cornpo~ tamiento :del' individuo. En l a percepc'i6n e x p l í c i t a e x i s t e un proceso d e a u t o a n d l i s i s ; puesto que yo a n a l i z o en mi' una f a c e t a d e m i c o n . verdadera autopercepción: d u c t a y d e su modelo. Se t r a t a d e ' percepción de m i mismo. .. Pero puesto que l a percepción, en todos sus n i v e l e s , no e s s i n o un proceso personal, en cuanto observadores a j e n o s ¿podremos adentrarnos en su contenido?. ;Podremos l l e g a r a p e r c i b i r l a percepcidn d e o t r o s ? . Evidentemente nos adentramos en e l amplio campo de l a o b j e t i v i d a d de l a percepción ajena. Puesto que a nosotros, como investigadores, nos i n t e r e s a l l e g a r a l níicleo r e a l d e l a percepción. Poco nos importa s i e l e s t u d i a n t e u n i v e r s i t a r i o apg ya su percepción d e " l o ajeno" en c r e e n c i a s , a c t i t u d e s , v a l o r e s , e s t e r e o t i p o s , e t c . ( 1 5 ) . De hecho, é l s e f o r j a una percepción más o menos confusa,pero r e a l , e x i s t e n t e y que d e una u o t r a f o r ma condiciona su comportamiento f r e n t e a "ese o t r o ajeno" (16). Creemos e x i s t e n dos formas d i s t i n t a s de acercamiento a l a percepcion ajena: - de modo c a y s a l , por e l a n s l i s f s d a l . i n f l u j o que d i c h a percepcibn e j e r c e en e l comportami,ento d e l ' e s t u d i a n t e . . Ambas formas d e conocimiento perceptivo l a s podemos a p l i c a r a l o s d i s t i n t o s t i p o s d e percepci6n. De modo esquemdtico, creemos que l a expresión matems t i c a d e l proceso peraepctivo puede a c l a r a r n o s l o s poaiblee camuniveg pos d e e s t u d i o sobre l a percepción d e l r o l ''estudiante - sitario". Se estudia la percepción que el estudiante tiene de la supuesta percepción de los otros ("la sociedad") sobre el rol "estudiante-universitario". - RS :estudio de la competencia diagnostica de los estudiantes (171, es decir de su "agudeza peL ceptiva"- (18) . RE - ~,C:estudio de la distancia perceptiva existente entre la autopercepción y la autometapercepcien del estudiante con respecto a su rol de "estudiante-universitario". Tantos y tantos campos de investigación (19) que pueden permitirnos conocer mejor el universo perceptivo de la pobla cien estudiantil. Por ello consideramos que el estudio de la distancia ) puede esclarecer, con relativa facilidad, perceptiva (HE - R E/S elementos que estdn en la base de la contestacidn estudiantil. Sin querer relegar el valor fundamental de la realidad (como subs tantividad objetiva), el psicosoci6logo resalta el peso etiol6gL co de la percepci6n social de la realidad en el comportamiento de los individuos y de loe grupos. - - NOTAS - . .
