REFLECTION: This Sunday, we continue the second
partoftheOrdinaryTime.InourFirstReading,Elijah
complained, wondering why God would do such a
thingtothepoorwidowwithwhomheisstaying.After
pleading God to revive the child, and his answer was
answered,hegavethechildtohismother.
InourGospel,Jesus,movedwithpity,commandedthe
young man to arise and then he began tospeak. And
then,Jesusgavehimtohismother.
Prophet Elijah and Jesus’ act of giving the young man
to the mother is a powerful symbol of our closely
knittedrelationshipwithourmothers.JesusdeAinitely
values the mother and son (daughter)
relationship. During conception, the beginning of
human life, all of us are knitted in the womb of our
mother.TheloveofGodisliketheloveofamotherto
herson(daughter).
