In today’s gospel: The king is
adamant about filling the wedding hall with
guests. His initial guest list has been
carefully drawn up, but when these invited
guests do not come, the king sends his
servants out to invite anyone and
everyone. The hall must be filled. The
issue, therefore, is not who is invited, but
who will choose to come. God persistently
invites us to the royal banquet in the
"kingdom of heaven." But the gracious
invitation requires our positive and definite
response.

follows each lecture. Participants are provided with study
guides. Come and explore the enduring power of Vatican
II’s teachings in our day and age. Capture the Council’s
bold new vision of the church and discover how to make
that vision a reality in today’s world.

non-profit organization working to improve education
outcomes for our children in Southwest Atlanta. Volunteer
needed to solicit grants from foundations. Work mostly
from home. Excellent composition, grammar and Microsoft
Word skills required. Stipend: $250- Quarterly. Could lead

Worship Commission has asked parishioners to donate the 2th
Edition Lead Me, Guide Me Hymnal in memory of or in
honor of their family and/or family member(s). Each donated
hymnal will include a label on the inner cover page
acknowledging the donor. Already over 200 hymnals have
been reserved. Please see a member of the Worship
Commission or a Choir member in the Baptistery to complete
a donation form and make your check payable to St. Paul of
the Cross Catholic Church. The cost of each hymnal is $20.00.

Mis queridos Hermanos, las lecturas de este Domingo, y
concretamente la primera lectura y el evangelio, nos ofrecen
la oportunidad de centrar nuestra atención en la
Eucaristía. A partir de ellas podemos ahondar en la
compresión de este gran sacramento como banquete. Este
planteamiento ha sido redescubierto tras el Concilio
Vaticano II y, en ocasiones, se ha contrapuesto al carácter
sacrificial de la misa. Sin embargo no son dos rasgos
contrapuestos sino COMPLEMENTARIOS. La
Eucaristía es un sacrificio, incruento, es decir, sin
derramamiento de sangre, que se da en el marco de un
banquete.
 La Eucaristía: el banquete que Dios nos ofrece
Isaías, en la primera lectura, nos habla proféticamente de la
eucaristía. Anuncia una futura intervención salvadora de
Dios para todos los pueblos empleando la imagen del
banquete. Jesús, en el evangelio, compara la llamada a
participar en el reino de Dios con la invitación a un banquete
de bodas. Así, ambos textos emplean una mesa festiva para
hablar de la salvación que Dios nos da.
El banquete es una de las categorías clave para las relaciones
humanas. Los hombres enseguida nos sentamos en torno a
una mesa cuando queremos celebrar algo con la familia, con
los amigos … La comida es signo de comunión (ambas
palabras tienen la misma raíz); manifiestan también alegría y
felicidad, solidaridad y alianza. En el evangelio vemos a Jesús
en varias ocasiones sentado a la mesa (con los discípulos,
con los pecadores …). Y fue en el marco de una cena, la
cena pascual, donde Jesús instituyó la eucaristía. Para
que también la relación entre Dios y los hombres fuera en
torno a una mesa.
Mis Hermanos, frente a esta realidad que nos presenta hoy la
Palabra de Dios con respecto a la Eucaristía, es importante
que todos y cada uno hagamos el esfuerzo de reflexionar
sobre este misterio y poder con la gracia de Dios valernos de
el – del Pan de Vida, la Santa comunión – como alimento
fundamental para nuestra vida cristiana. Recordemos las
palabras de Jesús: “Mi cuerpo es verdadera cominda, mi
sangre verdadera bebida” “El que come mi cuerpo y
bebe mi sangre vivirá por Mi.” Son mensajes muy
profundos que no podemos de dejar de pensarlos con
frecuencia en nuestro caminar cristiano. Quiera, pues, el
Señor darnos la gracia de descubrir cada día de nuestra vida,
este Gran alimento que es el Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo.
