Antioquia, Colombia Becomes Master of Fine Arts from the

Antioquia, Colombia
Becomes Master of Fine Arts from the University of Antioquia in 1998. Studies drawing at Escuela
Nacional De Bellas Artes between 1993 and 1995. Afterwards he completes doctoral studies at
the University of Castilla La Mancha, Spain until 2005.
In 2007 he moves to São Paulo, Brasil and lives there until mid 2010.
He has served as a professor of art and new technological media at ITM in Medellin. He is currently
a Painting professor at the University of Antioquia, lives and works in the municipality of Carmen
de Viboral.

Kamel Ilián has participated in several group exhibitions in his native Colombia and in Brazil, Spain,
Germany and Cuba.
AWARDS
He received the first prize in the National Young Artists' Salon as a member of the group A-clon in
1996. He won two scholarships with the Erasmus-Socrates program of the European Union. The
first one to study etching at L 'Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and the second one for
the study of new artistic techniques at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden.
