The Advent Wreath
The traditional Wreath with it’s rich symbolism recalls the long wait for
our ancestors for the promised Savior and ritualizes our own hope for His
second coming. The wreath itself, a circle without beginning and end,
reminds us of eternity. The evergreen branches symbolized God’s unchangeableness, and as a new candle is lit each Sunday we call our hearts
to a new awareness, a fresh anticipation of His birth in Bethlehem .
Five Minutes with Word Advent 2013
Every Advent and Lent/Easter, St. Vincent’s has available for everyone a mediation
booklet called, Five Minutes with Word. This booklet contains mediations for each day
of Advent based on the Mass Readings. These mediations will help you ponder and
treasure Jesus, just as Mary did. If you can find the time to spend with Lord-even five
minutes– you will be rewarded. Your spiritual life will be nourished, and that will affect every other aspect of your life. You’ll find yourself more peaceful, more loving,
stronger in faith, and more compassionate to the people around you. May the Lord
bless you as you get ready for Christmas!!
