39. Advent has a twofold character, for it is a time of preparation for the Solemnities of Christmas, in which
the First Coming of the Son of God to humanity is remembered, and likewise a time when, by remembrance
of this, minds and hearts are led to look forward to Christ’s Second Coming at the end of time. For these
two reasons, Advent is a period of devout and expectant delight.

Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church is committed to fostering the Roman Catholic faith embodied by the
wisdom, charity and courage of Saint Leo the Great inspired by the charisma of the Institute of the Incarnate Word to whose pastoral care the parish is entrusted.
We are grounded in the Eucharist and the worthy celebration of the sacraments. We are respectful of the
Magisterium of the Church as we care for the salvation of all men and women, which the Church as a
Mother offers to all. We promote individual and community prayer, the Gospel values, the respect for the
dignity of life from conception to natural death and a strong devotion to our Blessed Mother. We are willing to reach out to the poor and everyone who is in need, either materially or spiritually. We are committed
to do the work of the new evangelization as we work for the inculturation of the Gospel.

Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church, is dedicated to providing a welcoming sound spiritual environment
that is rooted in the Gospel values and the teachings of the Church celebrated in the Sunday liturgy. We are
concerned for the poor among us, and those in need. We are a community that strengthens Catholic identity
through prayer, worship, and service. We are committed to respect the dignity of every human being according to God’s redemptive plan.
