Present participle and progressive=Two parts
ing verbs only if they are happening now.
Part One present participle = ing
ar verb= ando
estudiar-ar+ ando=estudiando studying
Er and Ir verbs= iendo
beber-er+iendo=bebiendo drinking
escribir-ir+iendo=escribiendo writing
exceptions:
1. verbs ending in er or ir if proceeded by a vowel add
yendo
caer( to fall) =cayendo
creer ( to believe) creyendo
leer ( to read)=leyendo
oír(to hear) =oyendo
traer=( to bring) =trayendo
2. Verbs ending in ir that have e to i or o to u changes in
the preterite make the same changes
dormir =durmió then durmiendo
divertir (se)( to enjoy oneself)=se divirtió then divirtiendo
pedir ( to ask) pidió= pidiendo
preferir=prefirió=prefiriendo
reír( to laugh)=rió=riendo
repetir=repitió=repitiendo
servir=sirvió=sirviendo
vestir=vistió=vistieron
3 decir= diciendo
4 Ir (to go) yendo
Part two = present progressive
