CHILDREN’S CORNER
Saturday, Oct. 3rd @ 9:00 am
Saturday, Nov. 14th @ 9:00 am
Photo Directories are available in the office. We’ve
given lots of them out, but we still have some of the
free directories for those who had an 8 x 10 picture
taken. If you didn’t have a photo taken, or want extra
copies, they may be purchased at $20 per copy. They
contain the entire parish roster as well as the photos
of those who chose to have a picture made.
What is VIRTUS?
VIRTUS is a program created by the National Catholic Risk Retention Group in the United States with a
"Protecting God's Children" component that combats
sexual abuse of children in the Church. It is currently
in use in over 80 dioceses in the United States.
We also still have some copies of At Home With the
Word lectionary based Scripture guide, $8 each, available in the office.
VIRTUS focuses on educating teachers, parents,
and other adults who interact with children about sexual abuse and providing them with information to help
prevent abuse. This takes place in 'awareness sessions' led by trained facilitators. The awareness sessions consist of videos, worksheets, and discussions.
The videos incorporate interviews with both victims
and convicted perpetrators.
VIRTUS is a required element for anyone who plans
to become involved in a ministry that comes in contact
with children or youth. It is also a great resource for
parents and grandparents!!!
To register go to www.virtusonline.org and follow the
prompts. There is no cost for the program and free
