DEVOTIONS:
Rosary weekdays after the 8:30 a.m. Mass; Miraculous Medal Novena after the 8:30

Eucharistic Adoration Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the
Chapel, Wednesday in the Church,.
My dear parishioners,
Mis queridos feligreses,
Due to the frigid temperatures and the holiday
weekend, so many of you were not able to attend Mass last
Sunday. Last week in my letter and at the announcements
after Mass, I announced that we are having two Lenten
missions, one in Spanish and one in English. The Spanish
one begins next week, Monday, February 29 and continues
Tuesday, March 1 and ends on Wednesday, March 2.
Francisco Bermeo and Paulina Rojas, a married couple, are
giving that mission. Dom Quaglia and Sarah Kroger, another married couple, are giving the English mission, which
begins on Monday, March 7, continuing Tuesday, March 8
and ending on Wednesday, March 9. All evenings of both
missions are 7 – 8:30 pm, ending with the Benediction of
the Blessed Sacrament.
Lenten missions are a great opportunity for us as a
parish to grow deeper in our faith, to learn more about our
faith and to live out our faith. The theme for the mission is
“Lord, have mercy.” This phrase is taken from the beginning of the Mass during the penitential rite. We acknowledge our sins, we plead to God for his mercy. This theme is
also appropriate since we are celebrating the Year of Mercy
in the Catholic Church. Lent is a time for us to let go of all
that which keeps us distant from God and embrace the
Father’s love for us. God does not want us to be distant;
God wants to be as close to Him as a child who sits on his/
her parent’s lap. This mission is an opportunity to take a
break for a few hours in the middle of our crazy routines
and say to God that I want to be with you, I want to know
you better; I want to love you more.
Please make an effort to attend the parish mission.
Even if you cannot make all three nights, try to make at
least one or two. The couples that are presenting the
missions have a deep love for Jesus Christ and a deep
desire to make him known. Paulina and Sarah are
especially gifted in music and have sought to bring people
closer to Christ through their talents. Francisco and Dom
are good men, men who are not ashamed to announce their
love for Jesus Christ. Please also pray for the success of our
missions, so that the power of Christ will transform many
lives.

P.S. Update on the bell system: The bells ring five minutes
before Mass as a call to Mass and we also have them ring
everyday at 3 PM for the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
Debido a las temperaturas frías y el fin de semana
feriado, muchos de ustedes no pudieron asistir a Misa el
domingo pasado. La semana pasada en mi carta y en los
anuncios después de Misa, yo anuncié que tendremos dos
misiones Cuaresmales, una en español y la otra en inglés. La
de español comienza la próxima semana, el lunes, 29 de
febrero y continua martes, 1 de marzo y termina el miércoles,
2 de marzo. Francisco Bermeo y Paulina Rojas son una
pareja casada quienes darán la misión. Dom Quaglia y Sarah
Kroger, otra pareja casada, harán la misión en inglés y esa
comienza el miércoles 9 de marzo. Todas las noches, ambas
misiones son de 7 a 8:30pm, terminan con la Bendición del
Santísimo Sacramento.
Las misiones Cuaresmales son una gran oportunidad
para nosotros como parroquia crecer más profundamente en
nuestra fe, para aprender más sobre nuestra fe y para vivir
nuestra fe. El tema de esta misión es “Señor, ten piedad.”
Esta frase fue tomada del comienzo de la Misa durante el rito
penitencial. Reconocemos nuestros pecados, le imploramos a
Dios por su misericordia. Este tema también es apropiado
porque también celebramos el Año de la Misericordia en la
Iglesia Católica. La Cuaresma es un tiempo para que nosotros dejemos atrás lo que nos mantiene distantes de Dios y
aceptar el amor del Padre por nosotros. Dios no quiere que
estemos distantes; Dios quiere que estemos cerca de El cómo
niños sentados en las piernas de su padre. Esta misión es una
oportunidad para tomar una pausa por unas cuantas horas en
medio de nuestras rutinas locas y decirle a Dios que queremos estar contigo, yo quiero conocerte mejor; yo quiero
amarte más.
Por favor hagan el esfuerzo de asistir a la misión
parroquial. Aunque no pueda asistir las tres noches, trate de
asistir a una o dos. Las parejas que estarán presentando las
misiones tienen un profundo amor por Jesucristo y un profundo deseo de hacerlo presente. Paulina y Sarah son especialmente talentosas en la música y han tratado de acercar la
gente a Cristo por medio de sus talentos. Francisco y Dom
son hombres buenos, hombres que no se avergüenzan de
anunciar su amor por Jesucristo. Por favor oren por el éxito
de nuestras misiones, para que el poder de Cristo transforme
la vida de muchos.
