ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL
Our sincere thanks for your generosity during the 2014 Annual Catholic Appeal. Your gifts and pledges will
have a lasting impact on or ability to serve the People of God here in Brooklyn and Queens.
As of May 19th our parish had 140 pledges for a total of $52,808 which represents 98% of our parish goal
($53,901). This means that less than 15% of our registered parish families have already pledged almost 100% of our
parish goal! Your generosity is crucial to providing vital pastoral, charitable and educational ministries throughout the
Diocese and all gifts, great or small, help us to do God’s work. We thank ALL who have pledged so far and urge
every family to make an effort to support the Appeal. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL MONIES RECEIVED OVER
THE GOAL WILL BE RETURNED TO THE PARISH AND WILL ASSIST US IN MEETING OUR MANY EXPENSES!
May God bless each one of us for responding to this call with so much enthusiasm and generosity!
CONFIRMATION
Next Sunday, June 8th, is the Solemnity of Pentecost. At the 12 noon Mass some adults from our
parish will be confirmed. Please pray for them and their sponsors.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Dear Parishioners,
This Friday, Jun 6th, marks the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, when Allied forces landed on the beaches
of Normandy and began the liberation of Europe from Nazi domination. Today we still see the power of
evil in our world, as evidenced by the kidnapping of almost 300 Nigerian girls (mostly Christians) by the
Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram. We see it also in the slaughter of innocent people in California by
a deranged 22-year old gunman. An 18th century political leader once said that all that is necessary for
the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing. Let us in our time be inspired by the heroes of D-Day
who did whatever they could and made whatever sacrifice was needed to defeat evil. May God bless
them and all who give their lives to promote goodness in the service of others!
Msgr. Mahoney
Queridos Feligreses:
buenos no hagan nada.

PRO-LIFE CORNER – The only REAL controversy about abortion and euthanasia is our SILENCE. Silence
implies endorsement. The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those
of us who look on and do nothing! We must speak out against abortion and euthanasia.
