Diocesan Series Coming in May:
While the Church is often
associated with institutional structures, at its foundation it is a mutual
relationship between Christ as its Head and those who have been called
(ecclesia) to be members of his Body. Ecclesiology, a 4-day course from
9:00am-1:00pm, May 7, May 14, June 4, and June 11, will examine
various ways we experience being Christ’s Church, as well as the vision of
the Church we are called to become. Presenter is Jaeson Drummond;
class location—Library; cost $48. All are invited. Catechists can earn 16
hours of catechesis credit. To register, contact Jaeson, at 512-476-4801, or
[email protected].

Choosing Joy: Through Mary and Mercy into Joy!
Facilitated by Sally Robb, this day retreat is for women of
all ages. Tickets are $40 and include lunch catered by
Sala & Betty. Saturday, May 21, 9:30am-3:00pm, at St.
Austin Catholic Parish. Get tickets online at
choosingjoy.eventbrite.com.
We cannot construct joy. We can only receive it. But joy
is not something that "happens to us." We must choose it
every day. We choose joy every time we let ourselves be
loved; when we forgive and are forgiven; when we hope
instead of dread: when we give thanks instead of demanding to know "why;" when we have faith in the One who
sees us, who knows us, and who loves us. Why should we
consent to mere fleeting, capricious 'happiness,' when joy
only awaits our intentional, loving "yes" to make a home
in us? Let's choose joy!
