ISBE and Illinois PTA partner to offer first ever Back to-School Webinar for Parents!
•Sept. 9 forum to discuss implementation of new standards, tests and the role of parents
SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Illinois PTA are hosting a Back-toSchool Webinar for parents at 7 p.m. Sept. 9. State Superintendent Christopher A. Koch and Illinois PTA
President Peg Staehlin will talk about statewide education initiatives and discuss the importance of family
engagement and how parents can build better, more effective relationships with their children’s schools
during this inaugural one-hour event.

CURRICULUM NIGHT 2014!! Parents and families, please join Jefferson Teachers and Staff on Wednesday,
September 24th, 2014 from 6:30-8:00 P.M. at Jefferson School. There will be a brief principal welcome in the
school gymnasium at 6:30p.m. followed by two….30 minute presentations with your child’s grade level team.
(Teams and locations will be posted upon entry that evening.) Each grade level will make 2 presentations of
35 minutes each in order for parents with more than one child at Jefferson to visit different grade levels and
classrooms. There will be ample time after each presentation to introduce yourself to your child’s teacher
and see the classroom. Please join us at Jefferson School promptly at 6:30 P.M. on Wednesday Sept. 24th!
PICTURE DAY SEPTEMBER 16th: Please mark your school calendars for Picture Day 2014. Please dress
your children accordingly and appropriately for this day, and be sure children can fully participate in gym
class, recess or other daily activities.
DENTAL FIELD EDUCATION WITH NASCAR at PRAIRIE OAK: All 2nd and 3rd grade students will have the
opportunity to travel to Prairie Oak School next Friday September, 12th 2014. Parents please return your
permission slips before next Friday to insure your child’s participation in this most educational experience!
SUPERINTENDENT COFFEES WILL BE HELD before school board meetings at the locations of each of the
monthly school board meetings. All families are encouraged to attend to have their questions answered
regardless of where your child attends school. One hour of chats are available in English and then an hour in
Spanish. The next school board meeting will be on September 25th at Prairie Oak School. The coffees begin at
4:00 P.M. in English and 5:00 P.M. in Spanish. The board meeting begins at 6:30 P.M.

padres
SPRINGFIELD - La Junta de Educación de Illinois (ISBE) y el PTA de Illinois son anfitriones de un seminario web de
Regreso a Escuela para padres a las 7 pm el 9 de septiembre. Durante esta hora, el Superintendente Estatal Christopher
A. Koch y el presidente del Illinois PTA Peg Staehlin hablarán sobre la iniciativa educacional a nivel estatal y discutirán
la importancia de la participación de la familia y cómo los padres pueden construir relaciones efectivas con las escuelas
de sus hijos.

NOCHE DE PLAN DE ESTUDIOS 2014!! Padres y familias, por favor únase con los Maestros y Personal de Jefferson el
Miércoles, 24 de Septiembre de 6:30-8:00 P.M. en la escuela Jefferson. Habrá una breve bienvenida con la Directora en
el gimnasio de la escuela a la 6:30 P.M. seguida de dos presentaciones de 30 minutos con el equipo de nivel de grado de
su hijo/a. (Equipos y localizaciones se publicarán al entrar esa noche.) Cada nivel de grado hará 2 presentaciones de 35
minutos para que los padres con más de un niño/a Jefferson pueda visitar las aulas y los diferentes grados. Habrá
tiempo suficiente después de cada presentación para que usted se presente con el maestro de su hijo y para mirar el
salón de clases. Únase a nosotros en la escuela Jefferson puntualmente a las 6:30 P.M. el Miércoles 24 de Septiembre.
DIA DE TOMAR LAS FOTOS 16 DE SEPTIEMBRE: Por favor de marcar sus calendarios para el día de las fotos del 2014.
Por favor de vestir a sus hijos/as adecuadamente en la clase física, al salir al recreo, o alguna otra actividad del diario.
PROGRAMA EDUCATIVO SOBRE LA SALUD DENTAL NASCAR EN PRAIRIE OAK: Todos los estudiantes de
2º y 3er grado tendrán la oportunidad de ir a la escuela Prairie Oak el próximo Viernes 12 de Septiembre del
2014. Padres por favor devuelvan la hoja de permiso antes del próximo Viernes para asegurar la
participación de su hijo/a en esta experiencia educativa!
CAFÉ CON LA SUPERINTENDENTE estará disponible antes de la Junta de Consejo Escolar en el lugar donde
se reúnan cada mes. Todas las familias están invitadas a atender a las juntas para que sus preguntas sean
contestadas. Juntas de una hora están disponibles en Ingles y la hora que sigue en Español. La próxima
Junta Directiva será el 25 de Septiembre en la Escuela Prairie Oak. El Café comienza las 4:00 P.M. en Ingles y
a la 5:00 P.M. en español. La Junta de Consejo Escolar comienza a las 6:30 P.M.
