What is the GED?
The General Education
Development tests
consist of four subjects :

Reading Language Arts (includes writing)
Each subject is tested separately. To pass you
must earn a score of at least 150 points on each
subject and a total score of 600 or more.
How do I get started?
Walk-in registration is every Monday and
Wednesday at 8:00 am in the High School
Office. Call if you need a different day/time.
How long will it take to be ready to
pass each test?
It depends on the individual. Your teacher will
give you an estimate after evaluating your skills.
When are the classes offered?
New students begin any time during the year,
depending on space. Weekday options start as
early as 8 am and go as late as 8:30 pm. You
must commit to a schedule to be ready to test
as soon as possible. VACE operates year-round
with no breaks over two weeks.
Do I have to take classes before I
take the GED tests?
No, but we strongly recommend it. It’s rare to
pass all subjects without preparation.
Where do I take the tests?
All GED testing is computer-based. Tests can be
taken at VACE or another test facility; you can’t
take them at home. Your teacher will help you
create an online GED testing account to sign up
for tests.
What if I can’t type?
Keyboarding and essential computer skills (if
needed) are included in the preparation classes.
Will there be a graduation?
Yes! VACE holds a cap and gown ceremony in
June for all who passed during the school year.
How much does everything cost?
The preparation classes are FREE! There is a
charge for the subject tests and you will pay
your test fees directly to GED Testing Service,
not to VACE.
Is the test available in Spanish?
¡Si! The certificate is the same whether you
take the test in Spanish or English. All four
subjects must be taken in one language. The

¿Qué es el GED?
Un GED es equivalente a un
diploma de escuela secundaria,
bachillerato o prepa. El examen
consta de cuatro temas:

No. El certificado es el mismo ya sea que tome
el examen en español o inglés. Los cuatro temas
se deben tomar en un solo idioma.
¿Cuánto cuesta?
Cada tema se analiza por separado. Para pasar
hay que sacar por lo menos 150 en cada tema y
una puntuación media de 600 o más.
¡Las clases de preparación son gratis! Hay
cargos para las pruebas y tendrá que pagar los
honorarios de su prueba directamente a GED
Testing Service, no VACE.
¿Cuándo se ofrecen las clases?
¿Dónde puedo tomar el examen?
Lunes, miércoles y jueves 6:30 pm-9:30 pm.
No es necesario llegar a todas las clases.
Los nuevos estudiantes pueden empezar
cualquier día.
¿Cómo me registro?
Registrarse en la clase durante las horas de clase.
¿Cuánto tiempo tomará?
Esto depende de usted. Su maestro le dará una
estimación después de evaluar sus habilidades.
¿Tengo que tomar clases antes de
tomar el examen de GED?
No, pero le recomendamos encarecidamente.
Es complejo pasar todas las materias sin
preparación.
Todas las pruebas de GED serán en
computadora. Las pruebas se pueden tomar en
VACE u otra institución de pruebas; usted no
puede tomarla en casa. Su maestro le ayudará
a crear una cuenta de GED en línea y a
registrarse para hacer pruebas.
¿Qué pasa si no sé el teclado de la
computadora?
Mecanografía y habilidades informáticas son
esenciales. Se incluirán en las clases de
preparación.
¿Habrá una graduación?
¡Si! Tenemos una gorra y una toga de
ceremonia en junio para todos los que pasaron
durante el año.
