ACRE Test for Eighth Grade Students
OLL Student Athletes
Honored at Miami Heat Game
On Friday March 23, 2016, two of Our Lady of the Lakes’ very own student-athletes were honored at a Miami
Heat Game. Eighth graders Darley Charles (Boys Varsity Basketball) & Kyamara Montero (Varsity Girls
Basketball) were nominated by their respective coaches and selected by the Miami Herald and Miami Heat to
be honored for their leadership on and off the court during the basketball season. They were able to watch
players warm-up prior to the game and were able to meet and take a picture with Miami Heat Co-Captain
Udonis Haslem (pictured above).
Darley has committed his athletic talents to basketball, and through his training, hard work, and dedication,
has shown great improvement in his basketball skills this season. He is truly a great role model amongst his
peers. He will be attending Monsignor Edward Pace High School in hopes to continue to play basketball and
be an instrumental part of their program.
Kyamara had to step up during this year’s basketball season when a fellow teammate went down with an
injury, and she really let her true colors shine as an outspoken leader. She led her team and the school to their
3rd straight All Catholic Conference playoff appearance. She has excelled in every sport she has played which
includes basketball, soccer, volleyball, and flag football. She also plans to attend Monsignor Edward Pace High
School where she is determined to play volleyball and/or basketball.
Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School is a Christ centered educational community that is committed to the
fullness of the Gospel message. We strive to develop each child’s spiritual, academic, social, and physical potential.

The Vocation Blessing Cup is a wonderful instrument of prayer and devotion for our parish
families. The Cup reminds each host family that it is their responsibility to pray for and foster
vocations to the priesthood and religious life. A family is asked to host the Vocation Cup for
one week. It will travel from home to home as a sign of our total parish commitment to
praying for vocations.

Our Lady of the Lakes Parish Registration
If you attend mass here at OLL, you are encouraged to register with us. Please stop by the
Parish Office to fill out a simple registration form or register on our webpage www.ollnet.com.
We urge you to get involved with our ministries and, as a stewardship
parish, ask that you use your Offertory envelopes. If you are not both a registered and active
member of our parish, Baptisms, Marriages, Sponsor certificates and other documents
needed from the Church will take longer to obtain and, in some cases, not possible.
You must be attending Mass regularly and be an active member of the parish.

Bullying Part I
Excerpt from Virtus bulletin by Deacon Anthony P. Rizzuto, PhD
So…what can we do to keep our children safe?
Encourage young people to talk about bullying. Assure them you will listen and take action if they come to
you.
Look for signs that children and young people are being bullied, such as requests to stay home from school,
unexplained mild illnesses, and problems sleeping.
Advocate for clear policies about bullying in School settings and for bullying prevention to be addressed in
the classroom.
Empower young people to speak up when they see someone being bullied by saying something like, “You
know what, I don’t think that’s funny,” and walking away. This changes the dynamic by depriving the one
who bullies of an audience.
If you are concerned about bullying in a school setting, talk to the principal.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Archdiocese of Miami runs one of the most robust awareness and prevention
programs in the country. For more information contact the Safe Environment Office at 305-762-1250.
