AR PROGRAM
We are continuing the independent reading program Accelerated Reader this year. The students read books at their
individualized reading levels. Afterwards, they take a computerized comprehension quiz in the library, classroom,
or computer lab. The AR program is a research based intervention to improve student reading ability. It is a part of
our school wide improvement plan. Funding for this program is allocated through Tax Credit donations the school
receives. Last year, the AR program sparked a noticeable interest in reading and supported an increase in reading
achievement scores. You can keep track of the books your child reads and their scores by using the internet.
This website is where parents can view a child’s bookcase and see the quizzes they’ve passed. You must log in for

COMMUNICATION WITH HUDSON
The office sent home a Parent Handbook in the beginning of the year. Your teacher’s email can be located on the
back of the Parent Handbook for your convenience. When you contact Hudson we do our best to return the
communication promptly. Teachers and staff have 24 hours to return your email or call. If possible parent
communication is answered as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding of this policy.
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
Your conference will be scheduled for you as soon as you turn in your Conference Invitations. These were sent out
Thursday, September 3rd, so please make sure you send them in immediately to help secure your first choice.
Conferences start Tuesday, September 29th – Friday, October 2nd.
Don’t forget students will be dismissed early at 1:00 pm Tuesday through Thursday during conference week.
(Monday, September 28th will be a regular full day.)
FALL BREAK
Fall break will be from October 5th through October 9th. School will resume on October 12th.
FALL BOOK FAIR
Everyone is invited to visit the book fair in the Hudson library during Conference week. It will be open after school
on September 29th – October 1st. There will be a variety of books for all ages. Please invite your family, friends and
neighbors to come to our book fair. We are also still looking for volunteers to help. Book Fair hours are Tuesday,
October 29 from 1:00 – 6:00 pm and Wednesday –Thursday from 1:00 - 5:00 pm.

ONLINE BOOKFAIR
Parents/Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles can go to http://
bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/hudsonelementaryschool10 from 9/24/15 to 10/13/15. Your order will be mailed
to Mrs. Trim in the library with your child’s name clearly marked on it a few weeks after the fair closes. She will
deliver it to your child’s class. Thanks for supporting the Library and specila thanks to the PTA for helping with the
fair. We will buy new books for our library with the profits.
PTA NEWS
• PTA meeting Thursday, September 17th at 6:30 pm in the library.
• Trunk or Treat is Thursday, October 30th from 6:00-7:00 pm. Candy donations are being accepted at the
office. Bring your vehicle and decorate your trunk! All candy donations will get passed out but bring your
own as well. Trunk or Treat closes the parking lot at 5:45 PM sharp. The parking lot will not re-open until
7:00 pm or as soon as it is safe to have vehicles moving.
BUILDING VISITATION POLICY
Purpose:
• To minimize distractions and protect teaching and learning/instructional time and assessments.
• To control the flow of visitors, ensure a calm, safe, orderly environment.
• To minimize interaction between visitors and the students and staff.
Requirement:
• 24 hour notice is required prior to visit.
• Visits may be 45 minutes or less.
• Visitors are not permitted to interact with students or staff.
• All visits/visitors must be approved by the building principal or designee.
• Visitors are not permitted during testing.
• All visitors must sign-in/out at the front office, have a badge/name tag identifying them as “visitors”. This
must be worn at all times during the visit.
• All visitors must adhere to all district and school policies and regulations to include those for dress,
language, and decorum at all times.
• Other than parents/guardians, visitors must have written permission from the parent/guardian to visit with a
student, including outside agencies, e.g., counseling, behavioral, etc. No therapy is permitted on school
property at any time.

PROGRAMA DE AR
Continuamos el programa de lectura independiente lector acelerado este año. Los estudiantes leen libros a
sus niveles de lectura individualizada. Luego, toman una prueba de comprensión computarizada en la
biblioteca, aula o laboratorio de computación. El programa de AR es una intervención de investigación
para mejorar la capacidad de lectura del estudiante. Es una parte de nuestro plan de mejora de gran escuela.
Fondos para este programa se asignan a través de donaciones de crédito tributario por que la escuela
recibe. El año pasado, el programa de AR provocó un notable interés en la lectura y apoya un aumento en
las puntuaciones de logro de lectura. Usted llevar el control de los libros que lee su hijo y sus resultados
mediante el uso de internet.

FERIA DEL LIBRO DE OTOÑO
Todos están invitados a visitar la Feria del libro en la biblioteca de Hudson durante la semana de la
Conferencia. Será abierto después de la escuela el 29 de septiembre – 1 de octubrest. Habrá una variedad de
libros para todas las edades. Por favor invitar a sus familiares, amigos y vecinos a venir a nuestra feria del
libro. También estamos buscando voluntarios para ayudar. Feria de libro de horas es el martes, 29 de
octubre de 1:00 – 18:00 y el miércoles – el jueves de 1:00-17:00.

Los padres o abuelos, tías y tíos pueden ir a http://

enviará la Sra. Trim en la biblioteca con el nombre de tu hijo claramente marcado sobre la misma unas
semanas después de la feria se cierra. Ella entregará a clase de su hijo. Gracias por apoyar la biblioteca y el
specila gracias a la PTA para ayudar con la feria. A comprar nuevos libros para nuestra biblioteca con los
beneficios.

• Jueves, 17 de septiembre reunión de la PTA a las 18:30 en la biblioteca.

• Tronco o tratar es el jueves, 30 de octubre de 6:00-19:00 donaciones de dulces están siendo
aceptadas en la oficina. Llevar su vehículo y decorar tu tronco! Todas las donaciones de dulces se
pasan hacia fuera pero traen el suyo propio también. Tronco o tratar cierra el estacionamiento a las
17:45 sharp. El estacionamiento no se volverá a abrir hasta 19:00 o tan pronto como sea seguro
tener vehículos en movimiento.
POLÍTICA DE VISITAS DEL EDIFICIO
Propósito:
• Para minimizar las distracciones y proteger las evaluaciones y el tiempo de enseñanza y
aprendizaje/instrucción.
• Para controlar el flujo de visitantes, garantizar un entorno tranquilo, seguro y ordenado.
• Para minimizar la interacción entre los visitantes y los estudiantes y el personal.
Requisito:
• 24 horas aviso es requerido antes de la visita.
• Visitas pueden ser 45 minutos o menos.
• Los visitantes no se les permite interactuar con estudiantes o personal.
• Visitas y visitantes todos debe ser aprobados por el director o su designado.
• Los visitantes no están permitidos durante las pruebas.
• Todos los visitantes deben sign-in y out en la oficina, tiene una etiqueta de la insignia/nombre
identificándolos como "visitantes". Esto debe llevarse en todo momento durante la visita.
• Todos los visitantes deben respetar todo distrito escolar políticas y regulaciones que incluyen
aquellos para el vestido, lenguaje, y decoro en todo momento.
• Que no sean los padres o tutores, los visitantes deben haber escrito permiso de los padres o tutores
para visitar con un estudiante, incluyendo agencias exteriores, por ejemplo, orientación,
comportamiento, etc.. Ninguna terapia es permitida en propiedad de la escuela en cualquier
momento.
