Monsignor John Anderson, P.A.
Thank you, Fr. Yozefu Ssemakula, author of “The
Healing of Families” for your very blessed week with us.
Attendance at your seminar indicates the desire of our
people to experience the healing ministry that you offer to
teach others to practice among their families and loved
ones. May God continue to bless you in all of the parishes
and dioceses that you will visit this year.
If you haven’t done so, please mark your calendars
for February 14 & 15, 2015 for the second visit of Deacon
Poyo from Steubenville, OH. He will present a followup to his visit last year that produced many faith-sharing
groups. Check the bulletin and web site for more information.
I am completing my two-part series on “What will
the end of time look like?” this Monday at 7pm in the Gathering Space at 7pm. Please bring your Bible and friend
and a snack.
A reminded that Dr. William Rademacher, PhD will
be presenting a new series on St. Paul on Wednesday
mornings at 10 am. Please bring a Bible and a friend.
The group will meet in the Office Meeting Room.
Gospel reflection:
“On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being
torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon
him. And a voice came from the heavens, “You are my
beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
Mark’s version of the baptism of Jesus is the shortest and most to the point – Jesus is the Son of God who
acknowledges Jesus as His Son from the beginning of the
gospel account.
Jesus has no need to receive this baptism of conversion. However, it was appropriate that he who was going to establish the New Alliance should recognize and
accept the mission of his Precursor by being baptized with
his baptism: this would encourage people to prepare to
receive the Baptism which was necessary. The Fathers
comment that our Lord went to receive John’s baptism in
order to fulfill all righteousness (cf. Mt 3:15), to give us an
example of humility, to become widely known, to have
people believe in Him and to give life-giving
strength to the waters of Baptism.
“Ever since the Baptism of Christ in the water, Baptism
removes the sins of all”
(St Augustine, “Sermon” 135).
Fr. Jose Martin Alcantar, OFM
comunidad Americana. Esperamos que Dios nos envie mucha
curacion y fortalezca nuestras relaciones familiares y a todos
los participantes. Muchas gracias a todas las personas que
han colaborado para hacerlo possible. A Wade Cornelius, a
Jim Brueggen, a Elizabeth Benke, A Joey Valenzuela , y a
