Winter is over….finally!
To welcome Spring, Linden 1 has begun to learn
about seeds and plants.
We have already learned
a bit about growing
plants during our potato
investigation. By the
way...the potatoes are
growing like crazy! We
took a look at the life
cycle of a plant, discussed what plants need
to grow, and even
planted our own seeds.
We cannot wait to watch
them grow. Children
created journals to document observations of
their plants over time.
We planted various types
of seeds including peas,
beans, marigolds, sage,
and thyme. Our plan is
to compare and contrast
the differences and similarities in growth among
the plants. We have
also recently changed
our dramatic play area
into a flower garden.
Props such as pots, fake
flowers, shovels, rakes,
gardening gloves,
aprons, and bugs have
been added to create a
realistic representation
for children to learn about
and experience gardening first hand.
We had such a blast
making and eating pizza
from El Greco’s. It was
wonderful to join the chil-
dren and parents together for such a fun,
hands on cooking activity. The pizza was delicious.
Reminder: The Linden 1
field trip is scheduled for
Friday, May 2nd.

El Invierno se ha terminado…...Finalmente! Para
darle la bienvenida a la
Primavera, Linden 1 ha
empezado aprender acerca
de semillas y plantas.
Ya hemos aprendido un
poco sobre el cultivo de
plantas durante nuestra
investigación de la papa.
Por cierto …. Las papas
están creciendo como locas!
Miramos el ciclo de vida de
las plantas. Hablamos que
necesitan las plantas para
crecer e incluso plantamos
nuestras propias semillas.
No podemos esperar para
verlas crecer. Los niño
crearon sus diarios para
documentar las observaciones de las plantas con el
tiempo. Plantamos diversos
tipos de semillas incluso
guisantes, frijoles, caléndu-
las, salvia y tomillo. Nuestro
plan es comparar y contrastar las diferencias y similitudes en el crecimiento entre
las plantas.
También recientemente hemos
cambiado nuestra área de
juego dramático en un jardín
de flores. Se han añadido
accesorios como macetas,
flores artificiales, palas,
rastrillos, guantes de jardinería, delantales e insectos
para crear una representación realista para que los
niños aprendan y experimenten jardinería de primera mano.
No la pasamos genial
haciendo y comiendo pizza
del El Greco’s. Fue maravilloso unir a niños y padres
para la diversión; las manos
sobre la actividad de cocina.
La pizza estaba deliciosa.
