El presente catálogo presenta los trabajos realizados por un grupo multidisciplinar de
grabadores, músicos y bailarines europeos a través de dos residencias artísticas que han tenido
lugar, respectivamente, en la Factoría Cultural de Avilés (España) en Mayo de 2015, y en el
espacio escénico “The Space” de Dundee & Angus College (Escocia), en Octubre 2015, en el
marco del proyecto SYMBOLS.
SYMBOLS “Culture of Death & Cultural Life: New Audiences and Creations around
European Cemeteries” (Cultura de la muerte y vida cultural: Nuevas audiencias y creaciones con
los cementerios europeos) es un proyecto de cooperación cultural internacional cofinanciado por
el programa “Europa Creativa” de la Comisión Europea, liderado por el Ayuntamiento de Avilés a
través de su Fundación Municipal de Cultura.
El proyecto pretende promover el intercambio y la creatividad artística, así como el acceso
a la cultura, utilizando la simbología funeraria como una fuente de inspiración y temática común.
Entre sus objetivos principales, podemos destacar:
• El intercambio transnacional de trabajos culturales y creativos (movilidad de artistas y de
productos)
• El trabajo con nuevas audiencias, utilizando los cementerios como “museos al aire libre”
• La promoción del uso de las nuevas tecnologías
Para ello, dentro de SYMBOLS, han sido planificadas las siguientes actividades principales:
• Realización de inventarios y definición de elementos artísticos comunes (símbolos), y
posterior creación de rutas y actividades con y para las nuevas generaciones, en particular
a través la aplicación de Realidad Aumentada “ARTOUR”.

• Trabajos sobre el acceso al patrimonio con y para colectivos con discapacidad auditiva o
visual, y adaptación de ARTOUR a sus necesidades.
• Organización de la presente exposición itinerante multidisciplinar que presente los trabajos
realizados por más de 40 artistas europeos a través de 2 residencias artísticas.
• Intercambio y transferencia de experiencia a través de talleres y de la creación de guías
de buenas prácticas, en particular dirigidas a los miembros de la Asociación Europea de
Cementerios Significativos (ASCE).
Desde la Fundación Municipal de Cultura de Avilés, tenemos una experiencia muy amplia en
la participación en proyectos europeos, pero SYMBOLS supone un avance y un laboratorio para
experimentar nuevas oportunidades en cooperación tanto con nuestros socios transnacionales
como con nuestra red de infraestructuras culturales locales, y en particular con las más recientes
como son la Factoría Cultural o el cicLaC (Centro de Interpretación del Cementerio de La
Carriona).
Tanto los beneficiarios directos (artistas, colegios, colectivos con alguna discapacidad física, etc.)
como los gestores y responsables del proyecto, estamos descubriendo, aprendiendo, mejorando y,
sobre todo, aumentando nuestra perspectiva gracias a esta oportunidad de cooperación.
Confío en que el visitante no solamente disfrute de esta exposición, sino también y sobre todo
que la considere como una invitación a descubrir, proteger y compartir el patrimonio artístico y
los símbolos que esconden nuestros cementerios patrimoniales en Europa.

This catalogue showcases the artworks created by an interdisciplinary group of European
printmakers, musicians and dancers during the course of two artistic residencies organized
within the framework of the SYMBOLS project. The first took place in May 2015 at Factoría
Cultural (Spain) and the latter in October 2015 at “The Space” Dundee & Angus College
(Scotland).
SYMBOLS “Culture of Death & Cultural Life: New Audiences and Creations around
European Cemeteries”, led by the Fundación Municipal de Cultural of the Avilés City Council, is
an international cultural cooperation project co-financed by the European Commission under the
Creative Europe programme.
The two main goals of the project are the exchange of cultural and creative works, and the
facilitation of greater access to culture. In order to achieve these goals, funerary symbols are
used as a common subject and source of inspiration between the project partners and the artists
involves.
The most important objectives of SYMBOLS include:
• The transnational exchange of cultural and creative works (the mobility of artists and products)
• To work with new audiences using cemeteries as “open-air” museums
• To promote the use of ICT in this process
The following key activities have been planned to facilitate the success of the SYMBOLS
project:
• The collection of data and definition of common artistic elements (symbols) and the
subsequent creation of tours and activities that are aimed at future generations and that will
be included in the AR mobile application “ARTOUR”.

• Research on how to adapt this ARTOUR app to the needs of people with aural and visual
impairment and to assist with their access to heritage.
• The organization of this multidisciplinary travelling exhibition presenting the artworks made
by more than forty artists in two artist residencies.
• The transfer of experience and knowledge through workshops and the creation of good
practice guides that are of special interest to members the Association of Significant
Cemeteries of Europe (ASCE).
For our part, we at Fundación Municipal de Cultura have a vast experience and knowledge
in managing European projects, but SYMBOLS takes us another step forward. This project has
acted as a lab to search for new opportunities, in collaborating with our transnational partners and
using some of our local cultural infrastructures, such as the Factoría Cultural and the cicLaC (La
Carriona Cemetery Information Centre).
The opportunity to collaborate within this project is offering direct benefits (to artists,
education centres, people with disabilities, etc.) and giving project managers the chance to
discover, learn, improve on mutual research, and, to top it all off, to broaden our perspectives.
I am confident visitors not only will enjoy this exhibition but will also regard it as an invitation to
discover, protect and share our magnificent artistic heritage and the symbols hidden in cemeteries
throughout Europe.

Un viaje artístico
en el que la convivencia contribuye
al crecimiento personal y a la creatividad

Residencia artística en el taller de grabado de la Factoría Cultural de Avilés
(Mayo 2015)
El presente catálogo recoge los resultados de dos residencias artísticas en las que han participado 18 artistas plásticos en el taller de grabado de la Factoría Cultural de Avilés, y cuyos
trabajados han inspirado a posteriori más de una veintena de profesionales de las artes escénicas, entre coreógrafos, bailarinas y músicos, todos ellos de diversos orígenes y especialidades,
unidos por un mismo proyecto.
Para entender su trabajo y proceso creativo, así como el catálogo y la exposición, que se podrá visitar a lo largo de 2016 tanto en Avilés como en Córcega, Dublín, Dundee, Génova, Limerick o Maribor, nos parece importante aportar una serie de informaciones básicas, que destacan
la complejidad del proyecto.
Los artistas plásticos se encontraron por primera y única vez en Avilés durante unos 10
días, en mayo de 2015, con el fin de crear cada uno de ellos un mínimo de 2 obras con diferentes técnicas de grabado (imprimiendo 10 copias de cada obra) con libre elección de
estilos, contenidos o técnicas y la única condición de inspirarse sobre una temática común: la
simbología (funeraria).
El taller de grabado de la Factoría Cultural ofrece un espacio interesante…, pero era todo un
reto conseguir que tantos artistas trabajasen a la vez y pudiesen turnarse para utilizar los equipos
y conseguir crear tantas obras en tan pocos días: ¡y lo consiguieron!

No se obsesionen buscando cruces, elementos vegetales o religiosos, ideogramas, insignias y demás imágenes tradicionales del simbolismo en el mundo. Naturalmente los hay, pero
la interpretación de nuestros artistas y sus encarnaciones son tan variadas como las técnicas utilizadas: Litografías, Serigrafías, Fotografías, Impresiones sobre cerámica… Elevaciones,
Fragilidad, Humor, Destrucción, Memoria, Miedo… ¿Vida o muerte?, ¿Vida tras la Muerte?,
¿Ocasos o Albas?
Temáticas y técnicas comunes para creadores europeos que, más allá de los resultados, han
crecido también gracias al proceso esencial de SYMBOLS: la convivencia y el intercambio.
Un viaje artístico en el que la convivencia ha contribuido al crecimiento personal y a la creatividad.

An artistic voyage in
which sharing has positively contributed
to creativity and personal growth

Artistic residency at the Printmaking Studio, Factoría Cultural
(Avilés, May 2015)
The catalogue you are holding in your hands is the result of two artistic residencies. The
first was developed at the Printmaking Studio of the Factoría Cultural. Eighteen visual artists
participated and created the artworks that later inspired the creations of some twenty performing
arts professionals: choreographers, dancers and musicians from different countries and disciplines
who are bound together by a common project.
In hope of understanding their work and creative process, this catalogue and the exhibition
itself (that will be open to visitors in Avilés, Corsica, Dublin, Dundee, Genoa, Limerick and
Maribor during 2016), it is important that we offer a basic context for this complex European
project.
Artists met for the first and only time in Avilés in May 2015 for a 10-day artistic residency, their
goal being to create at least two prints using different printmaking techniques and making ten
copies of each work. Funerary symbols was the common subject that inspired their work.
The Printmaking Studio of the Factoría Cultural provides a comfortable working space… but
it was challenging getting so many artists to work under the same roof at the same time. We had
to make sure that they would all take turns to use the available equipment and be able to produce
so many prints in a short space of time. And they made it!

Do not waste your time looking for traditional approaches to funeral iconography in this
exhibition. Of course there are references to crosses, floral or religious elements, ideograms,
and other insignia, but the artists’ approach of the artworks is as varied as the techniques used:
lithography, silk-screening, photograph, print on porcelain…. The themes expressed in this work
include fragility, humour, destruction, memory, fear…and issues of life or death? Is there life after
death? Are there sunsets or dawns?
During the production of work for this exhibition, the use of common subjects and the
techniques for European artists have also grown and developed thanks to two main characteristics
of the SYMBOLS project: living with other people and the exchange of experiences.
We are proud to exhibit the results of this artistic voyage in which sharing has positively
contributed to creativity and personal growth.

Residencia artística de bailarines y músicos en “The Space” de Dundee & Angus College
(Octubre 2015)
La residencia del proyecto Symbols incluía trabajo colaborativo entre cuatro disciplinas distintas. Los grabados creados en la primera parte de la residencia fueron la fuente de inspiración
para los bailarines, coreógrafos, músicos y la experta en tecnología audiovisual, integrantes de
esta segunda parte.
En la creación de las piezas de música y danza han participado cinco coreógrafos de España,
Francia y Escocia; cuatro bailarinas profesionales de Irlanda, España e Italia; seis estudiantes de
danza de Escocia y seis músicos de Irlanda, Francia y España. Se conocieron durante el primer
día de residencia y trabajaron juntos durante 10 días en The Space: Dundee and Angus College
en octubre de 2015 y los resultados fueron muy interesantes.
Los artistas trabajaron de forma conjunta en un entorno muy intenso, creando las piezas de
forma simultánea, superando obstáculos, compartiendo ideas y, sobre todo, talento. En total,
han realizado diecisiete piezas de videodanza, un resultado más que notable. Asimismo, todos
los participantes pudimos constatar que el proceso creativo es tan importante y valioso como el
producto final.
Ha sido para mí un placer coordinar la residencia de bailarines y músicos en Dundee, tener
la ocasión de presenciar el inicio y el final de todo el proceso y ser testigo de lo mucho que se
puede conseguir cuando se une un grupo de artistas de distintas procedencias con talento y
motivación suficientes.
Se han compartido risas y superado problemas; los miembros del grupo han trabajado aceptándose, apoyándose y animándose unos a otros. Creo sinceramente que todos los participantes
son personas llenas de talento y, aún así, humildes y de mentalidad abierta. Los días de trabajo
en la residencia transcurrieron muy rápido y hay que destacar cómo los participantes enfrentaron
este reto: de forma sobresaliente.

Dancers and musicians residency at “The Space” (Dundee & Angus College)
October 2015
The Symbols residency included collaborative working between four different art forms.
The prints created from the first part of our shared project were our inspiration. During the
residency, dancers, choreographers, musicians and a filmmaker worked together in response
to the art work.
The participants in this 2nd residency included: five choreographers (one Spanish, one French,
and three Scottish); four professional dancers from Ireland, Spain and Italy; six student dancers
from Scotland; and six musicians from Ireland, France and Spain.
What an interesting mix this was and they all met for the first time on the first day of the residency, to work with each other for 10 consecutive days, which was held at The Space: Dundee
and Angus College in October 2015.
This was a very intense environment where the artists were working collaboratively, creating
work simultaneously, sharing ideas, hindrances, and their talents. In total 17 short dance films
were created, which was a remarkable achievement. It became evident to us all that the process
was just as valued as creating a final product.
Overseeing the Symbols residency of dancers and musicians in Dundee was a true pleasure
for me, particularly observing the beginning and the end of the process and seeing how much
can be achieved when you put together a group of inspired, motivated and talented artists from
different cultural backgrounds and expertise. There was much laughter and challenges were overcome, which enabled the group to work together in a very unique way – by accepting, supporting
and encouraging each other. I thought all participants were immensely talented, yet remaining
humble and open minded to explore. The pace of the residency was very fast and it was commendable how everyone rose to this challenge. All truly outstanding.

Angélica García
Oviedo, 1972. Licenciada en Bellas Artes por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, especialidad pintura y
grabado. Artista plástica y directora de la galería de arte Amaga, ha participado en exposiciones individuales y
colectivas en España y el extranjero. Ha sido galardonada en las bienales de pintura Arte de la Mar y La Carbonera. Sus obras forman parte de colecciones públicas y privadas.
Oviedo, 1972. BA (Hons) in Fine Art (printmaking and painting) from Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
Currently, she is the Director at the Amaga art gallery. She has participated in numerous solo and group shows
both nationally and internationally and has received awards at the Arte de la Mar and La Carbonera Biennials.
Her work is held in several private and public collections.
Carlos Suárez
Avilés, 1969. Doctor en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Vigo. Licenciado en Bellas Artes por la Universidad
de Salamanca. Sus últimos trabajos son fruto de su investigación en torno a la relación que se establece entre
las personas, el territorio, la especulación inmobiliaria y la identidad colectiva.
Avilés, 1969. PhD in Fine Art by Universidad de Vigo. BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Universidad de Salamanca.
His last works are inspired by the extensive research he has carried out on the relationship between humans,
the territory they inhabit, property speculation and collective identity.
Daniele Lasalandra
Génova, 1982. Pintor contemporáneo. Graduado en Bellas Artes por la Accademia Ligustica de Génova. Su
obra, inspirada en Gerhard Richter y David Hockney, explora la relación entre el objeto y la imagen. Se dedica
profesionalmente al arte desde 2006 y ha participado en exposiciones a nivel nacional e internacional. Algunos
de sus trabajos forman parte de colecciones privadas de todo el mundo.
Genoa, 1982. Contemporary painter, graduated at Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti (Genoa). His work is
influenced by Gerhard Richter and David Hockney and explores the relationship between the object and the
image. He is a professional artist since 2006 and has had national and international exhibitions. His work can
be seen in corporate and private collections worldwide.

Eleanor Thomson-Begg
Aberdeen, 1996. Cursa estudios artísticos en el centro Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design de
Dundee, donde experimenta con distintas especialidades, si bien se centra en las artes plásticas. Su obra se
inspira en la naturaleza y emplea colores crudos y con fuerza con los que logra la abstracción de los objetos
aplicando distintas técnicas.
Aberdeen, 1996. She is currently studying at her local art school, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, experimenting with various specialisms however mainly focusing on Fine Art. Much of her work
looks at nature, with bold and energetic colours often abstracting the objects, using a range of different media.
Elise Pinelli
De profesión fotógrafa, vive a caballo entre París y Córcega, donde trabaja para varias revistas y productoras.
En la actualidad trabaja en varios proyectos sobre la juventud, la intimidad y las normas no escritas en la cultura
moderna italiana. Ha expuesto en las galerías Vivo Equidem y Espace Ofr.
Elise is a Corsican photographer. She lives and works between Paris and Corsica. She works on film sets, and
for different magazines. She is currently developing various projects looking at youth in Italian modern culture,
intimacy and invisible rules. She has shown her work at Vivo Equidem gallery and Espace Ofr.
Fernanda Álvarez
México D.F., 1967. Artista plástica residente en Asturias (España). Utiliza el grabado tanto en impresión como
en piezas únicas en forma de collage o instalaciones. Su obra es un reflejo de sus experiencias personales, con
la infancia, el desarrollo de la persona y el mundo femenino como temas principales.
Mexico DF, 1967. Fernanda Álvarez is a visual artist who lives and works in Asturias (Spain). She uses printmaking in both prints and unique pieces as collages and installations. Her artwork refers to her own experiences
and speaks about childhood, growth and woman’s world.
Francesca Dainotto
Génova, 1979. Artista plástica, ilustradora y grabadora. Graduada en Comunicaciones Multimedia y Arte por
la Accademia Brera de Milán. En 2012 participa en un curso de grabado impartido por el profesor Moreno
Chiodini en la Scuola d’Arte Castello Sforzesco. Desde 2013 experimenta con distintas técnicas de grabado
en sus ilustraciones y libros de artista.

Genoa, 1979. An artist, illustrator and printmaker, she holds a BA in Art and Multimedia Communications
awarded by the Accademia Brera. In 2012 she attended the long term printmaking course held by the master
Moreno Chiodini at Scuola d’Arte Castello Sforzesco; since 2013 she has explored several different forms of
printmaking in her illustration projects and artist books.
Gemma Dardis
Dublín, 1981. La obra de esta artista multidisciplinar se ha expuesto en Irlanda, Reino Unido y Nueva York. Su
trabajo se centra en el análisis de la relación entre la cerámica y la creación de imágenes por medio del grabado y la fotografía, dando lugar a estrategias visuales relacionadas con la memoria, su pérdida y cómo hacer
visible todo aquello que el lenguaje no es capaz de mostrar.
Dublin, 1981. An interdisciplinary artist, who lives and works in Limerick City, she has exhibited throughout
Ireland, U.K. and New York. Her work examines the relationship between ceramics and image making, through

Ian Ritchie

Laura Koder
Maribor, 1991. Actualmente reside en Lovrencna Pohorju, donde cursa estudios de Bellas Artes. Apasionada
del arte, se decanta principalmente por el diseño gráfico y la escultura.

Mary O’Dea

Born in Clonmel, Ireland. Mary O’Dea left engineering to study Fine Art in DLIAT in Dublin. Her work is primarily
in the medium of print but also includes three dimensional work. Her work investigates themes of belonging, loss
and identity through images of the city landscape juxtopositioned with the natural world, the yin and yang of life.
Mélissa Epaminondi
Bastia, 1977. Arquitecta y artista plástica, divide su tiempo entre París y Córcega. Su trabajo combina el arte y la

1977, Bastia (Corsica). Melissa Epaminondi is an architect and a visual artist who lives and works between
Paris and Corsica. Her work combines art and architecture through the notion of projection. Her architectural
approach gives her a unique understanding of video and installation art. She deals mainly with the relationship
between the body, architecture and film.
Ramón Rodríguez
Avilés, 1943. Pintor, ilustrador, comisario y ensayista. Estudió Historia del Arte y, posteriormente, se graduó en
Medios Audiovisuales por la Remscheid Akademie. Ha participado en 44 exposiciones individuales y en más
de 300 colectivas en Europa y EE.UU. Ha dirigido la Escuela de Cerámica de Avilés y es autor de numerosas
intervenciones artísticas públicas, como el Nuevo Puente de San Sebastián o el Proyecto Crisol.
Avilés, 1943. Painter, Illustrator, curator and essayist. He studied Art History and graduated in Audiovisual Media from the Remscheid Akademie. He has had 44 solo shows and more than 300 group exhibitions throughout
Europe and the United States. Former Director of the Escuela Municipal de Cerámica, he is the author of public
works such as New Bridge of San Sebastián and Crisol project in Avilés.
Sylvie de Meerleer
Brujas, 1986. Graduada en Artes Plásticas en la especialidad de pintura y en Bellas Artes en la especialidad
de Diseño Gráfico; Diplomada en Docencia de Artes Plásticas. Ha obtenido numerosos galardones y ha sido

seleccionada para participar en residencias internacionales, exposiciones y ferias. Desde 2014 colabora con
la galería alemana Martin Kudlek (Colonia).
Bruges, 1986. She graduated as a Master of Visual Arts in Painting and as a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic
Design. She is a specifically trained teacher of Visual art. She has several prizes, selections and international
residencies, exhibitions and art fairs on her record. Since 2014 she has collaborated with the German Martin
Kudlek Gallery in Cologne.
Tamara Hršak
Zagreb, 1992. Estudiante de Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Maribor. Ha elegido el diseño gráfico, técnica

Zagreb 1992 in. She studies Fine Arts at the University of Maribor. She has developed a great interest in graphics, which is the focus of her master thesis.
Tomás Alonso Alvarado
Nueva de Llanes, 1981. Grabador y artista multidisciplinar. Usa distintas técnicas de grabado, como la serigrafía y la litografía, junto con imágenes fotográficas para dar vida a sus característicos paisajes, en los que
predominan el negro, el gris y el rojo.
Ha participado en exposiciones en España, Francia o Japón.
Nueva de Llanes, 1981. A printmaker and multidisciplinary artista, he uses different printing techniques like
silkscreen and lithography, along with photographic images to create his characteristic landscapes, in which
black, grey and red are the predominant colours.
He has had several exhibitions at home and abroad, with shows in France and Japan.
Trudi McVey
Glasglow, 1985. En la actualidad cursa estudios en la Duncan of Jordanstone Colege of Art and Design, una
de las universidades artísticas más importantes en Escocia. Emplea diversas técnicas en sus obras, que aborda con una mente abierta para dejar que cada una de ellas adquiera su propia identidad.

Aisling O Kiersey
Esta joven bailarina irlandesa de 20 años comienza a bailar a los 15 en la compañía de danza juvenil de Dublín.
En 2014 se traslada a Dundee para estudiar en la SSCD donde cursa segundo año. Ha participado en proyectos con John Scott del Irish Modern Dance Theatre y Scottish Dance Theatre y es miembro de la compañía
Flyzone.
She is 20 years old and from Dublin, Ireland. She started dancing at 15 and was a member of the Dublin
youth dance company before coming to train at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance in Dundee 2014
where she is now in her second year. She has taken part in projects with John Scott from Irish Modern Dance
Theatre and Scottish Dance Theatre and is currently a dancer with Flyzone.
Alexandra Mackenzie

Eleana Charalambous
Nacida en Nicosia, esta chipriota comienza a bailar a los 5 años. Se ha formado en el estudio de Annita Hatjieftychiou y ha sido integrante durante tres años de la compañía juvenil de danza de Nicosia, antes de iniciar

Francesca Till
De origen alemán, ha pasado largas temporadas en Italia. Ha estudiado danza moderna en Il Laboratorio y
actuado en el Teatro Ponchielli. En la actualidad estudia danza en la Scottish School of Contemporary Dance
(SSCD) en Dundee. Además, es miembro de Flyzone, la compañía de danza de la SCDD, a través de la que
ha tenido ocasión de participar en la residencia del proyecto Symbols.
She was born in Germany but spent many years in Italy. Currently studying at The Scottish School
of Contemporary Dance in Dundee having previously studied modern dance at Il Laboratorio back in
Italy where she performed at Teatro Ponchielli each year. Francesca is also a member of Flyzone, the
SSCD’s dance company which provided her with the opportunity to work on the Symbols residency
project.

During her studies she collaborated with visual artists and musicians. She was awarded an artistic residency
at Teatro Akropolis by the Association ARTU for her first solo creation “Solo in Coppia”. She has danced for
international French and Italian companies.
Irene Álvarez Coto
Asturias, 1984. Trabaja como bailarina y fisioterapeuta durante sus viajes por Europa, Cuba e India, que aprovecha para sumergirse en la danza contemporánea y clásica, el yoga y el flamenco.
Colabora con coreógrafos y artistas internacionales de distintas disciplinas. Su danza se basa en la toma de
conciencia del cuerpo y del espacio; percepciones sensitivas que se transforman en movimiento. Emoción en
movimiento.
Asturias, 1984. She works as a dancer and physiotherapist while travelling through Europe, Cuba and India,
diving into Contemporary Dance Art, Yoga, Flamenco and Classical dance.
She works with international choreographers and artists from different disciplines. Her dance is based on
a consciousness of the body, of space, of sensitive perceptions transformed in motion and of emotions in
motion.

Jennifer de Brún
Limerick, 1990. Bailarina profesional y etnocoreóloga. Trabaja como Coordinadora de Artes Escénicas en la
Irish World Academy of Music and Dance de la Universidad de Limerick, institución en la que cursa estudios
de Doctorado. Su tesis doctoral versa sobre el método Cecchetti en Irlanda.
Limerick,1990. Professional dance artist and ethnochoreologist. She is currently a doctoral student at the University of Limerick, researching Cecchetti Classical ballet in Ireland. She is the Performing Arts Coordinator at
the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick.
Katie McFarlane
En 2015 obtiene su Diploma de Estudios Superiores en Danza por la Scottish School of Contemporary Dance.
Durante su etapa formativa es integrante del cuerpo de baile de Flyzone.
En la actualidad trabaja como acomodadora en el Dundee Reparatory Theatre y profesora ayudante en
un proyecto social de danza. Asimismo, realiza prácticas como bailarina en la compañía KaSt Dance en
Aberdeen.
She completed her HND at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance in 2015. During her studies Katie
was a member of the SSCD youth dance company Flyzone.
Katie works at Dundee Reparatory Theatre both as an usher and a class assistant for their community dance
programme. She is currently an apprentice dancer for KaSt Dance Company based in Aberdeen.
Olivia Sanciu
Cursa estudios de piano en los conservatorios de Bastia, Marsella y Toulon (primer premio de piano y música
de cámara). Ha trabajado como profesora en formación en la Académie de Musique Rainier III. Asimismo, está
titulada en el método DOLCE de enseñanza musical a personas autistas.
Compagina su labor docente como profesora de piano en el Conservatorio de Córcega con la de concertista.
A pianist who lives in Bastia, Corsica, she studied at the conservatories of Bastia, Marseille and Toulon (First
prize in piano and chamber music) and was a trainee teacher at Académie de Musique Rainier III. A Professor
graduate of state, she also studied the Dolce method for teaching piano to people with autistic disorders.
Currently she teaches at the Conservatory of Corsica and gives concerts.

Poppy Sexton
Se inicia en la danza a los 7 años. Poco después descubre la danza contemporánea, disciplina que la conquista. A los 14 es elegida para formar parte del elenco de la producción de Rapunzel del BalletLORENT’S, donde
tiene oportunidad de experimentar la vida de una verdadera bailarina. El año pasado estudió en la School of
Arts de Singapur como participante del programa de intercambio del Scottish Ballet.
She started dancing from a young age, commencing ballet when she was 7. In high school she discovered
contemporary dance and fell in love with the form. Aged 14, she was cast in BalletLORENT’s production of
Rapunzel which provided her with an insight into life as a dancer. Last year, she took part in Scottish Ballet’s
Youth Exchange Programme and spent time at the Singapore School of Arts.
Valeria Chiara Puppo
Génova, 1984. Graduada en Danza por la DanceHaus Academy di Milano y en Pedagogía por la Università
di Genova. Desde 2011 trabaja como bailarina y coreógrafa, creando performances para lugares específicos
y desarrolando proyectos de investigación sobre movimiento y su relación con el espacio, la arquitectura y el
cuerpo.
Genoa, 1984. She graduated in Dance at “DanceHaus” Academy (Milan) and in Pedagogy from the Università
di Genova. She has been working as a contemporary dance and dance-theatre choreographer since 2011. Her
main projects are focused on site-specific performances and movement research to investigate the relationship
between space, architecture and the body.

Hannah Fahey
Newry, 1987. Cantante, investigadora y docente irlandesa. Gracias a su gran registro vocal abarca todo tipo de
piezas musicales. Su faceta investigadora y un amplio repertorio son la base de un estilo vocal muy personal.
La voz como vehículo en el aprendizaje intercultural, la improvisación vocal y la composición multidisciplinar
centran sus inquietudes artísticas.
Newry, 1987. She is a singer, researcher and educator, who lives and works in Limerick, Ireland. Her performance work spans genre, and her academic research together with a diverse repertoire base, has uniquely informed
her vocal practice. Her artistic interests include voice as a vehicle for intercultural learning, vocal improvisation
and interdisciplinary composition.
Luke Brady
Pianista en la Scottish School of Contemporary Dance y el Tayside Ballet. Su pasión por la música escocesa le
ha llevado a colaborar con la Royal Scottish Country Dance Society como músico y miembro del Consejo. Es
director de un afamado grupo de baile y participa en grabaciones y giras. En su tiempo libre, este entusiasta

He is pianist for the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance and Tayside Ballet. Passion for Scottish music
has lead to rewarding collaboration with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society as Musician and Board
Member. Luke leads a popular Dance Band, tours and records extensively. When not working, an avid patron
of the arts, Luke enjoys performances of all genre.
Pablo García Reyes
Anayo, 1984. Se inicia en la percusión a los 8 años en el Conservatorio Municipal Profesional Julián Orbón y
finaliza su formación en el Conservatorio Música de Aragón.Es Principal de percusión en la Banda de Música
Ciudad de Oviedo y colabora como freelance con distintas orquestas sinfónicas, actividades que compagina
con su labor docente y su participación en distintos proyectos musicales.
Anayo, 1984. He began his percussion studies aged eight at Conservatorio Julián Orbón and completed his
training at Conservatorio de Música de Aragón. He is the principal percussionist of the brass and woodwind
Banda de Música Ciudad de Oviedo and collaborates as a freelancer with different symphonic orchestras. He
also works as a percussion teacher and participates in different music projects.

Daniel Aing
Tras iniciarse en la danza a través de la Capoeira, este bailarín marsellés ha dedicado mucho tiempo a perfeccionar su técnica como bailarín de breakdance; después descubriría su pasión por la danza contemporánea.
Ha actuado en numerosas producciones independientes por todo el Reino Unido. En la actualidad ejerce labor
docente en Dundee & Angus College y en varias compañías.
After first learning Capoeira, Daniel, who comes from Marseille (France), has spent many years developing his
skills as a breakdancer and then later discovered a passion for contemporary dance. He has performed for numerous independent choreographers and toured all over the UK, and he currently teaches at Dundee & Angus
College as well as with various other companies.
Joan Clevillé
Coreógrafo independiente y Director Artístico en el estudio Joan Clevillé. Sus piezas se han representado en
Reino Unido, Alemania, Polonia, Austria, Suecia, Italia, España y Japón. Asimismo, ha recibido encargos, entre
otros, de Café Fuerte (Austria-Suiza) y de Thomas Noone Dance y el Institut del Teatre (Barcelona). Desde
2014 es Artista Asociado de la Scottish School of Contemporary Dance.
Joan is an independent choreographer and Artistic Director of Joan Clevillé Dance. His works have been presented in the UK, Germany, Poland, Austria, Sweden, Italy, Spain and Japan. He has also received commissions
from Thomas Noone Dance (Barcelona), Café Fuerte (Austria-Switzerland), and Institut del Teatre (Barcelona)
amongst others. Since 2014, Joan has been Associate Artist of the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance.
Lee Lappin
Bailarina profesional, coordinadora de talleres y docente. Realizó diversas giras con la National Dance Company of Wales. Profesora de danza por la London Contemporary Dance School y titulada en yoga, pilates, método ContaKids y coaching en Programación Neurolingüística. En la actualidad es Directora Creativa de Artes
Escénicas en la universidad D&A, un trabajo apasionante que disfruta enormemente.
She was a professional dancer, workshop coordinator, and teacher and toured extensively with The National
Dance Company of Wales. Lee obtained her MA and teaching qualifications from LCDS. Lee is a yoga, Pilates,
and ContaKids trained teacher & NLP practitioner. Currently Lee is the Creative Director of Performing Arts at
D&A college and thoroughly enjoys this dynamic and exciting role.

Lisa Bibby
Se forma en la Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Posteriormente se une a la Verve Dance Company,
donde tiene ocasión de interpretar sus propias coreografías. Ha trabajado en entornos educativos y sociales,
impartiendo talleres y creando coreografías para grupos de todas las edades. Ejerce como Directora de Cursos de danza en Dundee & Angus College.
Lisa trained at NSCD and went on to join Verve Dance Company which also featured her own choreographic
work. She has worked extensively in educational settings and the community facilitating workshops and choreographing for all ages. Currently she is Course Leader in Dance at D&A college.
Steven Martin
Cursa estudios de danza en la Scottish School of Contemporary Dance (SSCD), completando su formación
con una beca en el Scottish Dance Theatre y ha formado parte del cuerpo de baile de Retina durante varios
años. Ejerce como docente para la SSCD y el Dundee Rep Theatre. En la actualidad se encuentra de gira junto
a Katie Milroy, con quien ha puesto en marcha el proyecto KaSt Dance Company.
Steven trained at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance, completed an apprenticeship with Scottish
Dance Theatre and then performed with Retina for numerous years. He also teaches regularly for the Scottish
School of Contemporary Dance and Dundee Rep Theatre. He is currently establishing KaSt Dance Company
with fellow dance artist Katie Milroy. They are currently touring a new triple bill of work.
Thomas Small
Formado en la London Contemporary Dance School, es Director Artístico en el estudio Shaper/Caper en
Dundee. Ha recibido numerosos premios y encargos y se ha convertido en el primer artista en residencia en la
historia de BBC Radio 2. Su trabajo ha sido aclamado por la crítica y ha participado en giras a nivel nacional
e internacional.
He trained at LCDS and is Artistic Director of Shaper/Caper based in Dundee. He has won many awards and
commissions for his work and is the first ever BBC Radio 2 Artist in Residence. His critically acclaimed work
