 Lorena Wolffer (Mexico City, 1971) is an artist and cultural activist. She has presented her work in Argetina, Brazil, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, France, Finland, Hungary, Mexico, Nigeria, Slovakia, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Venezuela. Wolffer was co-­‐founder and director of Ex-­‐Teresa Arte Alternativo of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (1994-­‐1996), advisor to the Coordinación de Difusión Cultural of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (2004-­‐2007) and Academic Coordinator of Arte, cultura y justicia: representaciones y performatividades alternas for the Programa Universitario de Estudios de Género/PUEG, UNAM (2011). She has been a member of the Curatorial Committee for Ex Teresa Arte Actual (2015 to date), the Consejo de Cultura de la Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México (2013), the Consejo Consultivo del Museo de Mujeres Artistas Mexicanas, MUMA (2007 to date) and the Comité de Artes of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (2010-­‐2012). As an independent contemporary arts promoter, she has organized numerous exhibits and artistic events, and created and conducted cultural television and radio shows. She has also served on a variety of jury and awards boards. Wolffer has taught art classes, workshops and diploma courses at the Centro Cultural de España, the Centro Nacional de las Artes, and the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana, among many others, and conducted lectures in numerous venues in Mexico and abroad. Her writings have been published in several magazines, newspapers, and books. She has been the recipient of the Artraker Award for Social Impact (England, 2014), Commended Artist of Freedom to Create (Singapore, 2011) and the Omecíhuatl Medal granted by Inumjeres DF (Mexico City, 2011). In addition, she has been awarded grants by the Ford Foundation (Mexico City, 2012 and 2015), the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte, Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (Mexico City, 2007 and 2012), Programa de Fomento a Proyectos y Coinversiones Culturales, Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (Mexico City, 1999), and the Zellerbach Foundation for the Arts (San Francisco, California, USA, 1998).
