Solemnity of All Saints
Nov. 1, 2015
“Now is the time for a new ‘creativity’ in
charity, not only by ensuring that help is
effective but also by ‘getting close’ to those
who suffer, so that the hand that helps is seen
not as a humiliating handout but as a sharing
between brothers and sisters. We must therefore ensure that in every Christian community
the poor feel at home” (St. John Paul II, Novo
Millennio Ineunte).
Solemnidad de Todos los Santos
Noviembre 1, 2015
Juan Pablo II, Novo Millennio Ineunte).
BASTROP FIRES
We are all aware of the recent Bastrop fires and
would like to ask our parishioners to continue
to pray for the first responders who are trying
to control and extinguish the fires. Also, let us
remember those who are in harm’s way and
may we continue to ask God’s protection for
all persons and property who are threatened
by this disaster. Please refer to the Catholic
Charities social media page/website for more
information on how we can help.

SANTA CRUZ CATHOLIC SCHOOL/ESCUELA CATOLICA
News from the Principal’s Desk
Noticias del Escritorio de la Directora
Wow, November is here already! These next several weeks
will be busy with preparations for some major events. On the
day we let out for Thanksgiving, November 24th, we will be
hosting Grandparents Day. It is an early dismissal day that will
begin with a School Mass. Then, we will have the grandparents
visit classrooms and join their grandchildren in Deane Hall for a
brunch. Next, we have our Christmas programs to get ready for.
The PreK-2nd grades have their program on December 14th and
the 3rd - 8th grades have their pageant on December 16th. We
are selling concessions out at the Trail of Lights in Buda again
this year which will take place the second and third weekends in
December. Then, in January, we will be having our 2nd Annual
Casino Night. So, we have some busy weeks ahead of us!
On Sunday, November 15th, we will be celebrating our first
School Mass with the Santa Cruz community at the 11:00 Mass.
We are really looking forward to this special day. Our students
will serve as lectors, altar servers, and choir members. One of our
school families will take the gifts up after the offertory as well.
Please join us, if you can.
Have a blessed week,
Mrs. Flanagan

estaremos preparando algunos eventos importantes.
Bendiciones,
Sra. Flanagan

The Holy Spirit Moves Men to Explore the Permanent Diaconate
Have you recently become aware of a desire to deepen your faith, life, but not sure why? Do you feel that your heart is being moved inexplicably in a new or bold way lately? Have you felt a greater need to know Christ more intimately, or a growing desire to follow Him more
fully, for some unknown reason? For no apparent reason, has your awareness increased recently of the needs of the materially and spiritually
poor - and perhaps even sensed a greater desire to respond? Do you live a mature faith, love the Church, and follow Church teaching, but
have a nagging sense that there’s something missing?
If you answered yes to some of these questions, and you are a man between 30 and 57, the Holy Spirit might be calling you to explore
the permanent diaconate. Does that possibility excite you? Scare you? Puzzle you? Whatever your reaction, talk to your pastor about what’s
going on in your heart. He’ll help you decide next steps.
The diaconal formation class of 2022 will begin forming in January 2017. Inquiry sessions are scheduled this year as follows:
Nov. 15 - Pastoral Center, 6225 Highway 290 East, Austin, 78723
Dec. 13 - A parish in the east of the Diocese (to be decided)
With your pastor’s permission, explore diaconal formation at one of these sessions. For more information, call: (512) 949-2459 or email
[email protected].
