TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
REJOICE IN GOD’S
GENEROSITY
“S
hare your toys” was one of
the first “commandments” I
remember as a child. And my
immediate reaction, at least on the
inside, was, “No! I don’t want to share.”
I wanted what was mine to be mine. It
didn’t matter that what was “mine” had
been given to me. I can see the same
dynamic going on in our first reading and
Gospel reading today. Neither Joshua
nor John the apostle wants to share
what they see as “mine.” Joshua was
jealous that the spirit given to Moses now shows up in two
who were not at the right place at the right time when this
spirit was given to others. John wants Jesus to stop others
who are healing In Jesus’ name but who “do not follow
us” (Mark 9:38). Both Jesus and Moses model proper
response to God’s generosity by recognizing and rejoicing
in it. Our human tendency to hoard can extend even to
God’s spiritual gifts. Rejoice in God’s generosity at work
wherever and in whomever it appears. Better to use your
energy protecting God’s little ones, taking care not to lead
them astray.
Have you ever resented God’s generosity at work in
unexpected places or people? Why?
REGOCIJATE EN LA
GENEROSIDAD DE DIOS
"C
omparte tus juguetes" fue uno
de los primeros
"mandamientos" que recuerdo
me decían mis padres cuando era niño. Y
mi reacción inmediata, por lo menos en
el interior, era: "¡No! Yo no quiero
compartir."

Join us in praying the Rosary Tuesdays at 1:30 pm.
The word Rosary means “Crown of Roses”. Our Lady has
revealed to several people that each time they say a Hail
Mary they are giving her a beautiful rose and that each
complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses. The Holy
Rosary is considered a perfect prayer because within it lies
the awesome story of our salvation.
