ESCUELA POLITÉCNICA SUPERIOR DE JAÉN Departamento de Ingeniería Cartográfica, Geodésica y Fotogrametría PROGRAMA DE LA ASIGNATURA: Introduction to Geographical Information Systems CARÁCTER : LC CURSO ACADÉMICO: CRÉDITOS TEÓRICOS: 2009/10 ÁREA DE CONOCIMIENTO: CICLO: --- 1,5 CURSO: CRÉDITOS PRÁCTICOS: ---- CUATRIMESTRE: 3 2 Ingeniería Cartográfica, Geodésica y Fotogrametría DESCRIPTORES SEGÚN B.O.E. ----OBJETIVOS DE LA ASIGNATURA This course introduces students to GIS. Participants are introduced to the components of GIS, different data types and their sources, and the concept of spatial analysis. General GIS basic techniques will be developed in this course: spatial data import & export, data edition, and GIS analysis and modelling. A true project, developed by means of some hands-on software exercises, will provide an exposure to basic tools and GIS principles. This is a survey course and provides a basic overview of the subject matter as a whole. Participants with prior GIS knowledge and experience may waive this course in favour of another.
