C. L. Smith Chess Club
Tuesdays 2:50 - 3:45
C. L. Smith Library
The C. L. Smith Chess Club will start Tuesday September 13th. Players and parents at
any level of experience that are serious about wanting to learn or improve existing skills
are welcome. Maximum 20 students (because of limited sets and boards).
Studies have shown that students exposed to the discipline, patience, and creative
problem solving involved in chess often see improvements in all areas of their
schoolwork. Chess is a standard part of the curriculum in many countries for this
reason. Chess is also a ton of fun!
Students will be required to participate in at least one of the three local scholastic chess
tournaments held in the fall, winter, and spring.
Please contact Jason Mayr ([email protected]) if you have any questions. Also let me
know if you’d like to help (chess knowledge not necessary).
See you there!
