Meet our new Pastor
Fr. Luis R. Largaespada
Fr. Luis R. Largaespada, was born on June 23, 1978, in
Managua, Nicaragua, the third of seven children. His
home parish is Good Shepherd in Miami. He graduated
from G. Holmes Braddock Senior High in 1997 and worked in retail sales,
automobile mechanics, as security in a discount store and as a youth minister
before entering St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami in the year 2000.
Among his pastoral assignments in the Miami area, he served at Camillus House,
worked in youth ministry, did door-to-door evangelization at Corpus Christi
Parish, and ministered to the elderly and to AIDS patients. He also spent summers
working in migrant ministry in Virginia, in Veterans Administration hospitals in
New York and hosted a vocational radio program for Radio Paz.
Fr. Luis was ordained to the Priesthood by Archbishop John C. Favalora on May 9 th,
2009. His first assignment was Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Kendall. In 2012 he
was transferred to Epiphany Church, where he has served until Archbishop Wenski
appointed him to St. Hugh.

He is a Third Degree Knight of Columbus and Knight of the Equestrian Order of
the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He completed the Good Leaders, Good
Shepherds Leadership program of the Catholic Leadership Institute. He serves as a
member of the Archdiocesan Presbyteral Council and the Vocations board. Fr. Luis
has a great devotion to the saints and is the custodian of more than 300 relics of
the saints.

P. Luis R. Largaespada
El Padre Luis R. Largaespada nació el 23 de junio de 1978, en Managua, Nicaragua, el
tercero de siete hijos. Se graduó en Miami, FL de la secundaria G. Holmes Braddock
Senior High en 1997 y trabajó en ventas, como mecánico de automóviles, y como ministro
de jóvenes hasta que ingresó al Seminario St. John Vianney en el año 2000.
Entre sus tareas pastorales en el área de Miami se cuenta el haber servido en: Camillus
House, en la pastoral juvenil; ministerio de evangelización de puerta en puerta en la
parroquia Corpus Christi y ministerio con los ancianos y con pacientes con SIDA. También
pasó veranos asistiendo a trabajadores migrantes en Virginia, trabajando en los hospitales
de la Administración de Veteranos en Nueva York y como conductor del programa
vocacional en Radio Paz.
El Padre Luis fue ordenado sacerdote por el arzobispo John Clement Favalora el 9 de
mayo, 2009. Su primer servicio al pueblo de Dios como sacerdote fue en la Iglesia de
Nuestra Señora de Lourdes en Kendall. Luego de 3 años de servicio allí, fue enviado a la
Parroquia de Epiphany en la cual sirvió hasta que el Arzobispo Wenski lo nombró como
administrador de St. Hugh.
Es miembro de los Caballeros de Colón en Tercer Grado y Caballero de la Orden de
Caballería del Santo Sepulcro de Jerusalén. Es miembro del Consejo Presbiteral y del
Consejo vocacional de la Arquidiócesis. Completó el programa de Buenos Pastores y
Buenos Líderes del Catholic Leadership Institute. El Padre Luis es un gran devoto de los
santos y tiene la bendición de ser el guardián de más de 300 reliquias de los santos.

Ten years ago, the Grove Outreach was in the brink of
disappearing, when Herman Klemick, along with Lily Montero, took
over and resurrected it. After so many years of service, Herman is
retiring and passing on the torch to someone else.
Thank you, Herman, for all your efforts to help the
disadvantaged and poor of our area. Thank you for coordinating
the food bank, supplies and volunteers. You will be remembered for your willingness to
serve and for a job well done. You are a true example of living the Gospel. We hope to
continue to benefit from your advice and guidance.

Hace diez años el Grove Outreach estuvo a punto de desaparecer. Herman
Klemick, junto con Lily Montero, se hizo cargo y lo revitalizó. Ahora, después de varios
años de servicio, Herman se retira y pasa la antorcha a otros.
Gracias, Herman, por tus esfuerzos para ayudar a los pobres y menos favorecidos

This is the opportune moment to change our lives! This is the
time to allow our hearts to be touched! When faced with evil
deeds, even in the face of serious crimes, it is the time to listen
to the cry of innocent people who are deprived of their
property, their dignity, their feelings, and even their very lives. To stick to the way
of evil will only leave one deluded and sad. True life is something entirely
different. God never tires of reaching out to us. He is always ready to listen, as I
am too, along with my brother bishops and priests. All one needs to do is to
accept the invitation to conversion and submit oneself to justice during this
special time of mercy offered by the Church.

Saint Hugh School wrapped up another successful sports season with
the 2015-2016 Sports Awards Night on May 20th. It was a fantastic event
with over 300 guests there to support and enjoy the evening. The
driving force behind the evening was to recognize the outstanding levels
of support, commitment, leadership and performance by our athletes
throughout the year.
Athletic director, Coach Pina, served as the master of ceremonies and
did a fine job of keeping the program flowing while honoring this year’s
award recipients. The presentations of the awards were given by the
coaches of each individual team sport. Awards for students included
Most Defensive Player, Coaches Award, Most Improved, Sportsmanship
and Most Valuable Player.
We congratulate the athletes for all their efforts and look forward to
another great season next year.

2016 Athletes of the year. These
students were selected by their
coaches as being an integral and
important part of each of the various
team sports they participated in. They
have demonstrated respect for their
teammates, coaches, and the opposing team. They are athletes that
always give their best, take responsibility for their performance and
praise their teammates for a win. We are very proud of them!
