PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Memorandum is to provide information to Educational
Service Centers (ESC), Special Education Service Centers (SESC), and school
staff regarding the 10th Annual Special Education Resource Fair and request that
staff disseminate this information to parents.
MAJOR
CHANGES:
This Memorandum contains updated information for the 2013/2014 school year.
BACKGROUND:
The Resource Fair is jointly sponsored by the Division of Special Education and
the Community Advisory Committee (CAC). This event provides parents with
resources and information that support the development of students with special
needs within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
The 10th Annual Special Education Resource Fair will be held on Saturday,
October 26, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Augustus Hawkins High
School, 825 West 60th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90044.
Various departments within the LAUSD that provide services for students with
special needs and their families are expected to participate in this year’s Special
Education Resource Fair.
Entertainment, activities for children and parents, and refreshments will be
available. The theme for this year’s Fair is “A Time for Gathering,” which will
highlight integration activities happening in LAUSD.

INSTRUCTIONS:
ESC and SESC leadership are requested to assist in disseminating information
about the Fair. Schools are asked to duplicate and distribute the attachments to
families of students with disabilities. In addition, each school should post the
announcement in a prominent location. Teachers, students, and their families are
encouraged to attend.
