BIENVENIDOS.
WELCOME.
Una vez más se llevará a cabo ZONAMACO® MÉXICO ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO con el objetivo de presentar las
últimas expresiones del arte contemporáneo nacional e internacional, que permitirán al público, a los galeristas,
a los coleccionistas, a los curadores y demás seguidores del arte, contar con una feria de arte contemporáneo
internacional en México.
Este año es muy especial para ZONAMACO®, debido a que hasta la fecha, resultará la edición más abarcadora.
Contamos con la presencia de 115 de las más prestigiadas galerías nacionales e internacionales, que a su vez
representan a más de 1000 artistas de arte contemporáneo.
Una vez más, es para nosotros un orgullo, presentar la sección ZONAMACO® SUR, curada por tercer año
consecutivo por Adriano Pedrosa, que este año presenta un proyecto interesante que ya ha generado gran
expectativa.
Por primera ocasión, se presenta la sección ZONAMACO® DISEÑO, reuniendo a diez de las más importantes
galerías de diseño. El objetivo de este nuevo pabellón es fomentar el interés del público en el mundo del diseño,
así como crecer en este sentido año con año las propuestas.
Una importante iniciativa que se ha tomado también este año, es la creación de la FUNDACIÓN ZONAMACO,
esto con el objeto de apoyar el arte contemporáneo a través de distintos apoyos a artistas, instituciones y
eventos culturales.
2011 es un año muy significativo, puesto que a pesar de ser la octava edición de ZONAMACO®, para mí
representa 10 años de trabajo desde que empecé con Muestra I en la Ciudad de Monterrey, y es una gran
satisfacción ver el crecimiento que ha tenido este proyecto, y el interés que ha generado en las galerías, los
coleccionistas y el público en general.
El fortalecimiento y crecimiento de ZONAMACO® ha traído consigo nuevos proyectos dentro de la feria. Por
ejemplo, en colaboración con el Gobierno del Distrito Federal y la Secretaria de Educación del Distrito Federal,
presentaremos un ciclo de conferencias con invitados relevantes que junto con diversas presentaciones de
libros, generarán un espacio de difusión del arte y un intercambio de ideas que seguramente reforzarán los
objetivos de la feria.
Es gratificante saber que el interés en ZONAMACO® no sólo ha aumentado por parte de las galerías y el
público, sino también por los patrocinadores que cada año se suman a nuestro esfuerzo por incentivar el arte
contribuyendo así, al éxito de este proyecto.
Quiero por lo mismo, extender un agradecimiento a nuestros patrocinadores: al Gobierno del Distrito Federal,
a la Secretaría de Educación del Distrito Federal, a Banamex, a Audemars Piguet, a Axa Seguros, a Tequila

de vanguardia más importantes en México y en América Latina.
Once again we will be celebrating ZONAMACO MÉXICO ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO. Our intention to present
the latest expressions of national and international contemporary art continues. The public, gallerists, collectors,
curators and art fans will be able to attend an international contemporary art fair in México.
This is a very special year for ZONAMACO since is the largest edition so far. We are fortunate to have with us more
than 108 of the most prestigious national and international galleries, representing more than 1000 contemporary artists.
Once again it’s an honor to present the section ZONAMACO SUR, curated for the first time by Patrick Charpenel.
This year features an interesting project that has created a lot of expectation.
For second year ZONAMACO DESIGN brings together twelve important design galleries. The goal of this year
pavilion is to please and encourage the public´s interest in the world of design as well as to keep growing every year.
2012 is a very significant year because, apart from being the ninth edition of ZONAMACO, eleven years have
passed since I began with Muestra I in Monterrey city and it´s a great satisfaction to see its growth and the interest
is has generated among gallerists, art collectors and public in general.
The growth and strengthening of ZONAMACO has developed new projects within the fair. This year, in collaboration
with the Gobierno del Distrito Federal, the Secretaría de Educación del Distrito Federal and Fundación Colección
Jumex, we´ll be presenting a series of conferences with outstanding guests that, along with diverse book
presentations, will generate a diffusion space for art and the exchange of ideas that will surely reinforce the
objectives of the fair.
Is gratifying to know that the interest in ZONAMACO has not only increased on behalf of the galleries and the
public but also in the sponsors that each year join the effort to promote art thus contributing to the success of
this project.
I would like to extend my gratitude to all our sponsors: CONACULTA, Gobierno del Distrito Federal, a la Secretaría

Estimadas amigas y amigos:
Es para mí un honor participar en Zona MACO 2012 y dar la bienvenida a la Ciudad de México a esta colectividad
de creadores y a la comunidad artística en general.
En la capital de la República Mexicana, quienes tenemos la responsabilidad de formular la política educativa,
reconocemos el valor de las artes en el desarrollo de la creatividad, la sensibilidad y la imaginación, elementos
que constituyen los pilares de una formación sólida y humanista. Afirmamos que el arte humaniza y vuelve
mejores a las personas, fomenta y fortalece la construcción de ciudadanía.
En el Distrito Federal la educación ha sido uno de nuestros temas prioritarios. Nuestra ciudad se ha caracterizado
en los últimos años por establecer políticas que buscan la constante mejora de sus estándares educativos, los
cuales se sitúan en primer lugar a nivel nacional.
Hemos impulsado iniciativas y movimientos con los que hicimos un llamado a la participación de la población
en la búsqueda de mejores condiciones para elevar la calidad de la educación y garantizar la permanencia de
nuestros estudiantes. Movimientos como “Red Ángel por la educación” y “Firma y da un paso al frente por
la educación”, dan cuenta de una respuesta sin precedentes. El punto de partida de estas iniciativas son los
programas sociales con que actualmente cuenta el gobierno de esta ciudad y que se han consolidado como
parte de esta política primordialmente social. Desde programas como Niños Talento y Prepa Sí, con los que
se otorgan apoyos económicos a niños y jóvenes, la entrega de vales de útiles y uniformes escolares para los
alumnos de nivel básico, la instalación de aulas digitales y bebederos de agua potable en las escuelas de nivel
básico, la consolidación del programa de Escuelas sin violencia, la oferta de cursos de actualización y formación
docente, la impartición de una amplia gama de temas de talleres para padres, hasta la permanente campaña de
promoción de la lectura.
Mantenemos la convicción de aportar para mejor la calidad de educación en la Ciudad de México por lo que
impulsamos las actividades artísticas y culturales dentro de las escuelas y centros de enseñanza. Con este
magno evento se confirma la importancia de las artes en el desarrollo de esta ciudad y su rica oferta cultural, lo
que hace de nuestra capital un destino obligado para los amantes del arte y turistas del mundo entero.
A nombre de quienes integramos la comunidad educativa de esta ciudad, reciban mi reconocimiento y mis más
sinceras felicitaciones por el gran logro que es Zona MACO 2012.

Dear friends,
It is an honor for me to participate at Zona Maco 2012 and be able to welcome this important Project into the City,
as well as the collective creators and the artistic community.
In the Capital City, we recognize the responsibility we carry to developing education policy, as well as acknowledge
the value of the arts, the creativity, the sensibility and the imagination in this process. We are certain that the arts
help us become better human beings, encourage and strengthens our sense of belonging.
In Mexico City, education has been a priority for us. Our city is characterized for establishing policy that is
constantly looking at improving the educational standards, and for this effort we are placed in first place nationally.
We have impelled initiatives in which we addressed the population in search to find and put in place better
education conditions and to guarantee the permanence of our students. Programs such as Red Ángel por la
educación and Firma y da un paso al frente por la educación, are an astonishing proof of this. This social projects
have become the backbone to the vision of this administration, from programs such as Niños Talento and Prepa
Sí, in which financial aid is offered to children and young adults, coupons for school supplies and uniforms; as well
as the creation of cyber centers and water fountains for elementary level students, the consolidation of Escuelas
Sin Violencia, the courses to update and provide useful tools to teachers, a big selection of workshops available
to parents and to the constant campaign to promote reading, to mention a few.
We are committed to offering the best quality education in Mexico City and for this reason we support artistic and
cultural activities in our schools and learning centers. With this great event we confirm the importance of the arts
in the development of our city and its rich cultural content, making of our city and obligated site for those that
appreciate the arts in the world.
On behalf of those that integrate the education community in the city, please receive this recognition and my most
sincere congratulations for this outstanding achievement that Zona MACO 2012 is.

PERRIER ART CONTEST.
Con el fin de apoyar, reconocer y difundir la producción e investigación actual en torno de los medios artísticos
Perrier México a través de Societé Perrier y Zona MACO crea Perrier Art Contest 2012-2013.
De abril a diciembre de 2012 se desarrollarán 5 proyectos junto con las universidades de arte más importantes
del país: Claustro de Sor Juana, Centro, SOMA, La Esmeralda y la ENAP; el público podrá seguir los proyectos
de cerca a través de www.societeperrier.com/mexico-city
Un jurado especializado seleccionará un ganador el cual presentará su trabajo en el stand de Perrier en Zona
MACO 2013.
ZONA MACO 2012
Orgullosamente celebramos 9 años de participar como aliados de ZonaMaco, promoviendo el arte contemporáneo
y el coleccionismo en nuestro país. Desde el inicio de nuestra alianza se han logrado exitosos proyectos,
destacando el Premio Tequila Centenario a los artistas emergentes de la Feria.
Este año, Tequila Centenario celebra la 6ta edición del Premio, triplicando su valor económico respecto al
año anterior, como resultado de la cantidad y calidad de todas las propuestas presentadas por las galerías
participantes en la Feria. Además, al igual que en ocasiones anteriores, la obra ganadora se incorporará a la
Colección de Obras de Tequila Centenario.

PURIFICACIÓN GARCÍA
Con la intención de abrir su Colección de Fotografía a nuevas fronteras Purificación García convoca por segundo
año el Premio Adquisición de Fotografía Latinoamericana, abierto a los artistas de origen o residencia en América
Latina que participan en la feria representados por las galerías que integran Zona MACO
Se trata de un concurso de temática libre que asume la hibridación que actualmente caracteriza la producción
fotográfica contemporánea para abrazar las diferentes maneras de entender el hecho fotográfico.
El jurado del Premio está integrado por Celia Sredni de Birbragher,y Osvaldo Sánchez, dos expertos con un claro
criterio sobre los trabajos que se realizan en la fotografía actual, además de un representante de la Colección de
Fotografía Purificación García.
Tequila Centenario proudly celebrates its 9th anniversary as one of ZONAMACO´s pioneer allies, always promoting
and recognizing the finest contemporary talent from Mexico and around the world.
During ZONAMACO a select few emerging artists have been granted with the “Tequila Centenario Award” in
which a panel of multidisciplinary juries select only the best participating pieces.
This year, as a result of the excellence of previous winning creations, we are proud to announce that the value
for the 2012 edition´s Award will be tripled, and continuing with our tradition, the winner will become part of our
private collection.
We are delighted to be part of ZONAMACO, bringing global art and successful galleries to México.
Wishing the best for this and the many upcoming editions.
In an endeavour to exhibit her Photography Collection to new audiences, Purificación García calls for the second
year the Latin American Photography Purchase Prize. The award is open to all those artists from or residing in
Latin America who participate in the fair represented by the galleries which make up the Zona MACO.

The competition has an open theme and undertakes the hybridization which at present characterizes contemporary
photography to embrace the different ways of understanding the reality of photography.
The jury of the Prize is made up of Celia Sredni de Birbragher and Osvaldo Sánchez two experts with clear criteria
regarding the work being carried out in present-day photography and by a representative of the Purificación
García Photography Collection.

México y Latinoamérica. Nuestro principal
impulso es el apoyo y seguimiento cercano
y constante de las carreras de nuestros
artistas, en un escenario tanto local como
internacional.
Los artistas que representamos utilizan una
variedad de medios incluyendo pintura,
fotografía, video, escultura e instalación.
A partir del 2010 nuestro programa incluye
la presentación de una muestra paralela
en la sala de proyectos en donde se
presenta una pieza o proyecto específico,
expandiendo nuestra oferta a nuevos
públicos y trabajando en colaboración con
otros artistas, curadores e instituciones.

Inaugurated in September 2010, the
galerie Sultana was established in the
Marais district – in the dynamic area
between rue Saint-Claude and rue
des Arquebusiers – and proposes a
program of seven exhibitions per year.
Strongly anchored both in the French
and American art scenes, with several
gallery artists residing in New York or
Miami, the gallery has made the choice
to promote artists whose vocabulary
and original forms of expressions are
developing artistic careers in constant
ascension, artists whose work has not
gone unnoticed by numerous institutions
in terms of both exhibitions as much as
acquisitions.
The gallery maintains a serious base in
painting, with innovative approaches
in the pictorial medium engaged by
artists such as Jacin Giordano, Gavin
Perry, Christian Curiel, Sally Ross or
Stefan Sehler. Moreover, the gallery
also affirms an interest in the singular
practice of artists interested by forms
of unusual reinterpretations and the
misappropriation of the real and certain
of these fantastical or narrative aspects,
as is the case with the work of Bettina
Samson, Arnaud Maguet or Olivier
Millagou.
Participating in the art fairs FIAC, Paris,
Zona Maco in Mexico and ArtHK,
Hong Kong, the gallery has initiated a
movement of international diffusion of
its artists, maintaining solid and constant
work relations from the time of the former
gallery Baumet/Sultana.

La galería Thomas Schulte –hasta el 2000,
Galerie Franck + Schulte – fue una de las
primeras galerías que se establecieron
en Berlín tras la reunificación. La primera
exposición de la galería en abril de 1991,
Chor der Heuschrecken de la artista
alemana Rebecca Horn, despertó un gran
interés de crítica y público. A partir de ese
momento, la galería se posicionó entre
los más destacados espacios para el arte
contemporáneo en Alemania, mostrando
por primera vez en Berlín los trabajos de
artistas como Richard Artschwager, Alighiero
Boetti, Magdalena Jetelová, Sol LeWitt, Allan
McCollum, Pat Steir, y Robert Mapplethorpe.
Desde sus comienzos, la galería se ha
centrado en ofrecer una visión de las
prácticas conceptuales más clásicas, sin
tener en cuenta los intereses del mercado,
buscando representar un discurso basado
en la calidad de la obra de arte.
Desde su origen, la galería Thomas Schulte ha
participado en ferias de arte contemporáneo,
destacando su constante presencia en Art
Basel, Art Basel Miami Beach, ARCOMadrid
y The Armory Show en Nueva York. En 2012,
participa por primera vez en Zona Maco con
una selección de artistas ya conocidos por el
público mexicano como Miguel Angel Ríos,
Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle o Fabián
Marcaccio, junto con artistas veteranos de
la escena internacional como Alice Aycock y
Alfredo Jaar, y artistas más jóvenes como la
alemana Iris Schomaker.

una evolución de Massimo Audiello

DiabloRosso es un espacio de reflexión
creativa integrado por un grupo de
artistas provenientes de múltiples
disciplinas danza, artes visuales, curaduría, arquitectura, diseño, situado
en el Casco Viejo de la ciudad de
Panamá. Se fundó en el 2006 como
una pequeña tienda de distintos objetos de vanguardia y después de
cinco años se ha convertido en uno
de los espacios más innovadores
de artistas emergentes de toda la

Busca empoderar y estimular a mentes jóvenes para romper los moldes
y pensar independientemente, e incentiva al público a adentrarse en el
arte y en la cultura contemporáneas.
DiabloRosso tiene un interés particular por reflexionar sobre los modelos
expositivos y de circulación del arte,
algo que se hace evidente en su estructura.
La galería de arte inaugura exposiciones todos los meses, y su restaurante es un espacio creativo para
encuentros y conferencias de todo

Después de las tres primeras ediciones coordinadas y curadas por el brasileño Adriano Pedrosa para la feria de arte
Zona MACO, en las que oportunamente se definieron las líneas temáticas y conceptuales de este proyecto “especial”, Zona MACO Sur se ha convertido en un complemento indispensable del evento.
Zona MACO Sur has become an essential complement of the Zona MACO Art Fair after having being directed and
curated by Brazilian curator Adriano Pedrosa for its first three editions, in which thematic and conceptual guidelines
were opportunely defined.
Como ocurre en otras muestras de arte contemporáneo de prestigio internacional, los acontecimientos feriales incluyen exposiciones paralelas que enriquecen el programa general. Ejemplo de ello es la muestra UNLIMITED organizada por Art-Basel en Suiza, que reúne el trabajo de los principales artistas representados por las galerías participantes. Zona MACO Sur replica esta forma de involucramiento, pero a diferencia de las demás ferias de su tipo,
lo contextualiza territorialmente. Así se eligen principalmente artistas que radican en regiones sureñas de América,
África, Asia u Oceanía. Además, para borrar las fronteras políticas de dichas zonas geográficas, se incluyen artistas
que radican en otras áreas socialmente marginadas.
As is the case with other internationally renowned contemporary art exhibitions, events at the fair include parallel
shows that enrich the general program. An example of this is the UNLIMITED exhibition organized by Art-Basel in
Switzerland, which brings together works by the most important artists represented by participating galleries. Zona
MACO Sur emulates this kind of involvement but, as opposed to other fairs of its type, it contextualizes it territorially.
Thus, mainly artists that inhabit southern parts of America, Africa, Asia or Oceania are selected. In addition, in order
to erase political borders in those geographical areas, artists from other socially marginal areas are included.
Por ello para la edición 2012 se planteó enriquecer la muestra de dos maneras: una, rompiendo con la monotonía
de la distribución arquitectónica lineal, ofreciendo ahora espacios diseñados para cada obra; y la otra, generando
un diálogo en la que dos artistas de generaciones opuestas se confrontan estratégicamente. Así el primer grupo se
conformó con once personas menores de 36 años y el segundo con once mayores de 54. Como consecuencia quedaron excluidos los creadores que van a la mitad de sus carrera, para concentrarnos exclusivamente en productores
jóvenes o artistas maduros.
El presente proyecto muestra veintidós galerías internacionales con artistas que trabajan en condiciones material
y culturalmente difíciles. La estructura del montaje permite resaltar así posiciones críticas y exaltadas, a la vez que
universos subjetivos y personales. Zona MACO Sur 2012 ofrece una visión distinta del concepto hemisferio sur, permitiendo así que el público descubra nuevas o consolidadas perspectivas de nuestro presente histórico.
For this reason the 2012 edition will be enhanced in two ways: one, by breaking the monotony of a linear architectural distribution by offering spaces designed for each work; and two, by generating a dialogue in which two artists
from opposing generations are confronted strategically. Thus, the first group was composed of eleven people under
36 years of age, and the second of eleven older than 54. As a consequence, creators that are halfway through their
career were excluded, concentrating exclusively on young and mature artists.
This project features twenty two international galleries representing artists that work in difficult conditions, in a material and cultural sense. The montage’s structure makes it thus possible to highlight critical and exalted positions, as
well as subjective and personal universes. Zona MACO Sur 2012 offers a different view of the southern hemisphere
concept, making it possible for the public to discover new or consolidated perspectives of our historical present.

Erastudio Apartment-Gallery is a design
gallery which sets its attention exclusively
to the architectural and design works carried out by the most important names of
the Italian and International architectural
scene, the ones who have had the most
acknowledgements and awards of the 20
th and 21st Century.
The Gallery has to be found in two purposely concealed private spaces, inside a
building of the early 20th Century in Brera
Design District in Milan.
One of the spaces is an apartment on the
3rd floor opened in April 2010, brought
back to its original state with the restoration carried out by the owner, Architect
Patrizia Tenti. The other is a building on
the ground floor in the courtyard of the
same complex which will be opened on
April 2012, an original space which has
not been refurbished and will be the temporal platform to be moulded by the represented Architects.

inesperado a través de coloridos
y estampados, uso de materiales
variados:

plástico
reciclado, intervención de piezas
que se mezclan con arte, repaso
nostálgico, dinamismo marcado por
aires excéntricos.
TELHARMONIUM: limpio, geométrico,
atemporal, tonos nórdicos, muestra
la posibilidad de un resultado clásico
con esencia moderna. acentos en
ángulos, colores, cortes. la esencia
es el estudio que hay detrás de cada
pieza, simplicidad compleja.
Ambas marcas presentan bajo el
mismo espacio en MACO y abren sus
puertas dentro de una misma casa en
Havre 64 de manera permanente.

utilización de medios tecnológicos
