SECULAR ORDER OF
DISCALCED CARMELITES
Are you seeking a closer union with God and want to be a
more holy person? The Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites invites you to come visit our meetings. We have
been canonically established since 2001. Our charism is
contemplative prayer. Some of the Saints we study are
St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. If this
sounds inviting to you, call Dinah Evans at 209-669-6460
for more information. We meet at Our Lady of Fatima
Church on the third Saturday of every month, except
September and February.
LIFE LONG SERVER
The Year of Faith invites us all to be committed disciples of Jesus, “in whom we have believed”, (2Tim.
1,12). This is the perfect times to consider serving in
the “Ministry to the Sick”. Our parish is in serious need
of ministers to the sick. We serve twelve Convalescent
Homes, Conant Place, and to the sick that are Home
Bound. Let us each ask Jesus to help us see the blessings we have received, and share them with those in
need. Mother Teresa said, “We cannot all do great
things, but we can all do small things with great love.”
Please consider serving in the “Ministry to the Sick”. It
is deeply rewarding ministry. Contact: Kathy Sbragia at
home 545-1896 or her cell 604-8086.

PARISH COMMUNAL PENANCE SERVICE
Join us Tuesday, December 18th at 7:00pm for our
Parish Communal Penance Service. This is a wonderful
opportunity to prepare yourself spiritually for the most
joyous time of the year, Christmas. Give yourself a gift
by receiving the sacrament of Penance.
PLEASE JOIN US
Monday through Saturday for
Morning Prayer at 7:15AM
and Rosary at 7:30AM
in the Church before the
8:00am Mass. This is a wonderful way to begin the day.
A TIME FOR GIVING
During this Advent and Christmas season remember
that it is a time of giving. There is no one more needing
and deserving of such gifts then the homeless and poor
of our community. The Catholic church and many organizations need the help and support of your generosity to help keep the poor fed and sheltered. Please help
by donating non perishable foods and blankets to The
St. Vincent Society. As Jesus said "When you give a
luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your
brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, in case they
may invite you in return, and you
would be repaid. But when you
give a banquet, invite the poor,
the crippled, the lame, and the
blind. And you will be blessed,
because they cannot repay you,
for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."
THE LEGION OF MARY
The legion of Mary’s active members do weekly apostolate by visiting convalescent homes, giving holy communion, conducting post baptismal visits, home visits,
and assisting our priests at Mass at the convalescent
homes. The group meets weekly to pray, do spiritual
reading, and report on the week. We need more active
members. You are invited to come to our weekly meetings as a guest on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 at the parish center to discover if you are being called to serve.
For more information call Tim Shipley at 229-3423.
COMMUNION MINISTRY
We are called to help serve our faith community by
sharing our gifts, both at Mass and in our community. Ministers of Holy Communion take communion
to patients at Doctor’s Medical Center who are unable to join us at Mass. Please consider making
room in your life to spend a few hours a week in this
wonderful ministry. Training as a Communion Minister and for the hospital are provide. Please contact

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE
A EUCHARISTIC PEOPLE?
Eucharist is the focal point of our
community. We gather around the table as
a family...brothers and sisters of Jesus &
each other...to celebrate our hopes in God
and in each other; to break open the Word of God in our
everyday lives; to be nourished so that we can be faithful
to the Word in our everyday living. Eucharist is about
family around the table.
The Eucharist, however, cannot be contained in the hour
of Sunday Mass. We cannot be brother or sister on
Sunday morning unless we are brother and sister all week
long. To be a Eucharistic people means we understand
that Jesus and his Father are the ones holding the
banquet. The table belongs to everyone and as a
Eucharistic people, we are thankful with our whole beings
that we have been invited.
DON’T BE A VICTIM
As a reminder, never leave any valuable items in your car
that can be seen. If you’re going to leave something in the
trunk or other areas that are out of sight, place them there
before you arrive at your destination. There are people
who watch and wait for any opportunity to break into cars.
Our security cameras have good coverage, but we still
must not leave valuable items in our cars that can be
seen. Sadly, this time of year there seem to be more incidents of thefts and break ins. Also, please don’t leave
bicycles parked without locking them. In Church purses,
bags, and backpacks should never be left unattendedeven while going to communion. Make sure you stay
aware of your environment and those around you. If you
do see someone breaking in or vandalizing, call 911 right
away. Together we can make a difference and protect
each other. Remember, there are people who look for
opportunities. Don’t be a victim.
