Bob Cilinski “And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age”. My dear parishioners, Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus did return to heaven in triumph and glory. The Ascension is affirmed in the creed of the church, “He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father”. Jesus is now the universal Lord of every nation. Every part of the world comes within his redeeming, healing embrace. The Ascension is not about Jesus’ absence but about a different kind of presence … His spiritual, sacramental presence. Christ is with us always through faith, the sacraments, prayer and the life of the Church. People will now encounter Jesus through the life of the Church. That is why Jesus gave us the great commission to baptize all nations (there were 600 baptisms at All Saints last year). And, finally, Jesus returned to heaven to “prepare a place for us”. Our destination is the same and we should be united in knowing that we are all striving for heaven. Congratulations to Deacon Thomas Gallagher on his Ordination. Deacon Thomas will be with us this summer as he continues his preparation for priesthood. Happy Ascension … and next Sunday, Happy Pentecost. Love and blessings, Fr. Bob Cilinski Pastor Pastoral Care Needs Please notify us if you have a family member in Prince William Hospital or one of the nursing homes. A priest or Eucharistic Minister will then visit.
