AUSTRALIA TO ARGENTINA (REPEAL OF COMMON MARKET GROUP [GRUPO MERCADO
COMÚN: GMC] RESOLUTION No 43/08)
ZOOSANITARIAS APLICABLES A LA EXPORTACIÓN DE SEMEN OVINO PROCEDENTE DE
AUSTRALIA A LA ARGENTINA (DEROGACIÓNDE LA RES GMC N0 43/08)
CHAPTER 1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
CAPITULO1 DISPOSICIONES GENERALES
Art. 1 - All importation of ovine semen must be accompanied by an international veterinary certificate,
issued by the official veterinary service of the country of origin of the semen.
Art. 1 -Toda importación de semen ovino deberá estar acompañada del Certificado Veterinario
Internacional, emitido por el Servicio Veterinario Oficial del país de origen del semen.
Art. 2 - The international veterinary certificate has been issued within a period of not more than 10 (ten)
days before shipment.
Art. 2 - La emisión del Certificado Veterinario internacional ha sido realizada en un periodo no mayor de
10 (diez) días anteriores al embarque.
Art. 3 - The procedures required for the fulfilment of this resolution comply with the World Organisation
for Animal Health (OIE), with respect to animal welfare.
Art 3 - Los procedimientos requeridos para el cumplimiento de Ia presente Resolución se ajustan a las
recomendaciones de la Organización Mundial de Sanidad Animal - OIE, con respecto al bienestar animal.
Art. 4 - Laboratory examinations, when required, have been carried out in official laboratories or
laboratories accredited by the National Association of Testing Laboratories (NATA). These examinations
have been carried out in accordance with the OIE “Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial
Animals”.
Art. 4 – Si los exámenes de laboratorio han sido requeridos, éstos han sido realizados en laboratorios
oficiales ó acreditados por la Asociación Nacional de Autoridades Diagnósticas (NATA). Estas pruebas
han sido realizado de acuerdo con el "Manual de Pruebas de Diagnostico y Vacunas para los Animales
Terrestres" de Ia Organización Mundial de Sanidad Animal - OlE.
Art. 5 - The collection of material to conduct the diagnostic tests outlined in this resolution has been
supervised by the official veterinary service of the country of origin of the semen.
Art. 5 - La colecta de material para la realización de las pruebas de diagnostico establecidas en eI
presente Acuerdo ha sido supervisada por el Servicio Veterinario Oficial del país de origen del semen.
Art. 6 - An inspection has been carried out at the time of shipment, by me, the official veterinarian
certifying the good condition of the containers of semen and of the corresponding seals, in accordance with
the stipulations of this protocol.

Art 7. Australia has been declared free from the following diseases before the World Organisation for
Animal Health (OIE), this staus being recognised by the Argentine republic.
De Ia Organización Mundial de Sanidad Animal (OIE) ha declarado a Australia como zona libre de los
siguientes enfermedades, y la República Argentina reconoce ésta condición:

CHAPTER II
EXPORTING COUNTRY
CAPÍTULO II
DEL PAÍS EXPORTADOR
Art 8 – The exporting country certifies that the semen donor animal and its direct ascendants were born and
raised in the export country or in another country with equal or superior sanitary conditions, with respect to
scrapie.
Art 8.- El país exportador certifica que el donante de semen y su ascendencia directa nacieron y fueron
criados en el país exportador o en otro país con igual o superior condición sanitaria respecto a Prurigo
lumbar.
CHAPTER III
REGARDING THE CENTRE FOR COLLECTION AND PROCESSING OF SEMEN (CCPS)
CAPTULO III DEL CENTRO DE COLECTA Y PROCESAMIENTO DEL SEMEN (CCPS)
Art. 9 - The semen has been collected by a Centre for Collection and Processing of Semen (CCPS) that is
registered and approved by the official veterinary service of the exporting country and which complies with
the “CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION CENTRES”, of the OIE Terrestrial
Animal Health Code. The CCPS of origin of the semen appears in a list of CCPS that has been approved for
the collection of ovine semen, destined for Argentina, and endorsed by the official veterinary service of the

exporting country.
Art. 9 - El semen ha sido colectado en un Centro de Colecta y Procesamiento del Semen (CCPS)
registrado y aprobado por el Servicio Veterinario Oficial del país exportador que cumple con las
"CONDICIONES APLICABLES A LOS CENTROS DE 1NSEMINACION ARTIFICIAL", del Código
Sanitario para los Animales Terrestres de la OIE. El CCPS de procedencia del semen consta en una lista
de CCPS aprobados para la colecta de semen ovino, destinados a la Argentina, refrendado por el Servicio
Veterinario Oficial del país exportador.
Art. 10 - The semen has been collected and processed under the supervision of the veterinarian in charge at
the CCPS.
Art. 10 – El semen ha sido colectado y procesado bajo la supervisión del médico veterinario, responsable
técnico del CCPS.
Art. 11 - Diseases liable to be transmitted by semen were not detected by the CCPS during the 60 (sixty)
days prior to semen collection.
Art. 11- Durante los 60 (sesenta) días previos a la colecta del semen, no han sido registradas en el CCPS
la ocurrencia de enfermedades pasibles de ser transmitidas por semen.
CHAPTER IV REGARDING THE SEMEN DONOR ANIMALS
CAPITULO IV DE LOS DADORES DE SEMEN
Art. 12 - The semen donor animals were born and raised in the exporting country or have been in the
exporting country for at least 60 (sixty) days prior to the collection of semen. In the case of imported
animals, they must have come from countries or regions with equal or superior sanitary conditions with
respect to rinderpest, peste des petits, sheep pox and goat pox, FMD, scrapie and from agricultural
establishments with equal or superior sanitary conditions with respect to the diseases considered in Articles
13-15 of this protocol.
Art. 12 - Los dadores de semen han nacido y han sido criados en el país exportador o han permanecido en
el mismo por lo menos 60 (sesenta) días anteriores a la colecta del semen. En caso de ser animales
importados, estos proceden de países ó zonas con igual ó superior condición sanitaria respecto a Peste
bovina, Peste de pequeños rumiantes, Viruela ovina y caprina, Fiebre aftosa, Prurigo lumbar; y haber
procedido de establecimientos con igual ó superior condición sanitaria respecto a las enfermedades
contempladas en los Artículos 13 al 15 de la presente Acuerdo.
Art. 13 -The donor animals originated from agricultural establishments where there have been no reported
cases of lentivirus (caprine arthritis/encephalitis), akabane disease, or border disease in the 3 (three) years
prior to semen collection.
Art. 13 - Los dadores han provenido de establecimientos donde no han sido reportados casos de Artritis
Encefalitis caprina, Enfermedad de Akabane, Enfermedad de Ia Frontera (Border Disease), en los 3 (tres)
años previos a la colecta de semen.
Art. 14 - The donor animals originated from agricultural establishments where there have been no reported
cases of Q fever during the 12 (twelve) months prior to semen collection.

Art. 15 - The donor animals originated from agricultural establishments where there have been no reported
cases of ovine epididymitis (B.ovis), and no officially reported cases of paratuberculosis, or bluetongue
during the 6 (six) months prior to semen collection.
Art. 15- Los dadores han provenido de establecimientos donde no han sido reportados oficialmente casos
de Epididimitis ovina (B. ovis), Paratuberculosis y Lengua Azul durante los 6 (seis) meses previos a la
colecta de semen.
Art. 16 - The donor animals were not used for natural mating during the 30 (thirty) day period prior to
admission to the CCPS.
Art. 16- Los dadores no han sido utilizados en monta natural durante los 30 (treinta) días previos al
ingreso al CCPS.
Art. 17 - The donor animals were isolated for at least 30 (thirty) days before admission to the CCPS
facilities for semen collection, and only those that demonstrate negative results to the required tests were
admitted to the facilities.
Art. 17 - Los dadores han sido aislados por lo menos 30 (treinta) días antes de ingresar a la instalación
para Colecta de Semen del CCPS y solamente aquellos que presentaron resultados negativos a las pruebas
requeridas fueron admitidos a la misma.
Art. 18 - The donor animals did not present clinical evidence of diseases transmissible by means of artificial
insemination for a period of 30 (thirty) days before semen collection, on the day of collection, or the 30
(thirty) subsequent days.
Art. 18 - Los dadores no presentaron evidencia clínica de enfermedades transmisibles por medio de la
inseminación artificial durante un periodo de 30 (treinta) días anteriores a la colecta de semen, asi como
tambien en el dia de la colecta, y en los 30 (treinta} días siguientes a la colecta.
CHAPTER V REGARDING DIAGNOSTIC TESTS
CAPITULO V DE LAS PRUEBAS DE DIAGNOSTICO
Art. 19 - The donor animals were, during the isolation period prior to admission to the CCPS semen
collection facilities, and every 6 (six) months while they remain at the facilities, subjected to diagnostic
tests, which demonstrate negative results for the following diseases. The test method and sampling date are
outlined in Attachment 1.
Art 19 - Los dadores han sido sometidos a pruebas ó exámenes de diagnóstico para demonstrar sus
resultados negativos contra las enfermedades mencionadas en los Incisos 19.1, 19.2, 19.3 y 19.4. Las
pruebas han sido tomados durante el periodo de aislamiento ántes de ser admitidos a las facilidades del
CCPS para la colecta del semen, y cada 6 (seis) meses mientras se encuentren en las facilidades del
CCPS. El método y fecha de prueba ó exámen de diagnóstico con sus respectivos resultados esta siendo
adjuntado a este documento como ‘Anexo 1’.

19.2. PARATUBERCULOSIS: complement fixation test or agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) test
or ELISA. (not required if vaccinated using a registered ovine Johne’s disease vaccine)

Art. 20 – BLUETONGUE/ LENGUA AZUL
The donor animals were kept in a BTV free zone for at least 60 days before commencement of, and during,
collection of the semen, or
Los dadores han sido mantenidos en una zona libre del virus de la lengua azul por un mínimo de 60 días
anteriores al comienzo de la recolección de semen y durante dicha recolección; o
The donor animals were negative to an agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) test or ELISA on the first day of
semen collection and again between 30 (thirty) and 60 (sixty) days after the last collection; or
Los dadores tuvieron resultados negativos a la prueba de Inmunodifusion en Gel de Agar (AGID) ó
ELISA el día de la primera colecta de semen y nuevamente entre 30 (treinta) y 60 (sesenta) días después
de la última colecta; o,
they were negative to a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on blood taken at intervals of 14 (fourteen)
days during the semen collection period; or
tuvieron resultados negativos a la prueba de PCR en sangre tomada con intervalos de 14 (catorce) días

they were negative to a PCR test on a sample of frozen semen from each batch (collected from a donor
animal on the same date).

Art. 21 - The semen has been collected, processed and stored in accordance with the recommendations
concerning the “CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO THE COLLECTION OF SEMEN” and the
“CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO THE HANDLING OF SEMEN AND PREPARATION OF SEMEN
SAMPLES IN THE LABORATORY” in the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code.
Art. 21- El semen ha sido colectado, procesado y almacenado de acuerdo con las recomendaciones
referentes a las "CONDICIONES APLICABLES A LA TOMA DE SEMEN" y las "CONDICIONES
APLICABLES A LA MANIPULACION DEL SEMEN Y A LA PREPARACION DE DOSIS DE SEMEN EN
EL LABORATORIO" del Código asnitario pars los Snimsles Terrestres (Código Terrestre) de la de Ia
Organización Mundial de Sanidad Animal.
Art. 22 - Egg yolks used as semen diluents have originated from a country or region reported to the OIE to
be free from avian influenza and Newcastle disease.
Art. 22 - Las yemas de huevos utilizadas como diluyentes de semen han provenidos de un país ó región
libre de influenza aviar de declaración obligatoria ante la OlE, y Enfermedad Newcastle.
Art. 23 - If milk has been used in semen processing, it has originated from a country or region recognised by
the OIE to be free from foot-and-mouth disease.
Art. 23 - En caso de haber utilizado leche en el procesamiento del semen, ésta ha provenido de un
país o zona reconocido por la OlE como libre de Fiebre aftosa.
Art. 24 - The semen has been prepared in a safe manner, stored in clean, disinfected or new containers and
the straws has been identified individually and maintained in the custody of the veterinarian in charge at the
CCPS until the time of shipment.
Art. 24 - El semen ha sido acondicionado en forma segura, almacenado en contenedores limpios y
desinfectados o de primer uso y las pajuelas identificadas individuamente y mantenidas bajo custodia del
médico veterinario responsable técnico par el CCPS hasta el momento del embarque.
Art. 25 - The liquid nitrogen used in the container was fresh and the semen to be exported was stored with
semen of an equal health condition.
Art. 25 - EI nitrógeno líquido utilizado en el contenedor es de primer uso y el semen a ser exportado ha
sido almacenado con semen de igual condición sanitaria.
Art. 26 - The semen has not been exported earlier than 30 (thirty) days after collection.
Art 26 - El semen no esta siendo exportado antes de los 30 (treinta) días posteriores de la colecta.
CHAPTER VII REGARDING THE SEALS

Art. 27 - Prior to shipment from the port of departure, the container has been sealed under the supervision
of the official veterinarian of the exporting country, and the seal number was recorded on the certificate.
