DIOS ESTÁ CON NOSOTROS El libro de la Sabiduría nos dice que el Espíritu de
Dios está en todas las cosas. ¡Qué maravilloso
pensamiento! ¡Qué maravillosa imagen para tenerla frente a nosotros mientras vamos por el camino de la vida! Si el camino se revela al andar,
es bueno saber que Dios está con nosotros -y alrededor de nosotros- a cada paso. Pero Pablo
sabe que esta divina
presencia no es tímida. En vez de eso,
Dios nos llama, y
Pablo ruega que nosotros, junto con los
tesalonicenses, nos
hagamos dignos de
ese llamado. ¿Y
quién sabe más
acerca del llamado
de Dios que Zaqueo, el recaudador de impuestos? Todos sabemos que Jesús lo llamó que bajara nada menos que de un árbol, por su bien. Tal
vez más correctamente, al reflexionar en el final
de la lectura del Evangelio de hoy, podríamos decir que para bien del cielo.
Padre Nava en Tierra Santa
Queremos pedirles para que recen por el Padre Nava y los
peregrinos que estarán saliendo a Tierra Santa del 1 al 10
de Noviembre. Primeramente Dios nuestro sacerdote nos
prometió orar por todos nosotros en los lugares santos.
Felicidades a los peregrinos; que disfruten y que regresen

GOD IS WITH US The book of Wisdom tells
us that the spirit of God is
in all things. What a wonderful thought, and what a
wonderful image to keep
in front of us as we travel
down life's road. For if the
path is revealed in the treading, it's good to know
that God is with us--and all around us--every step of
the way.
But Paul knows that this divine presence is not mid.
Instead, God calls out to us, and Paul prays that we,
along with the Thessalonians, might be made worthy of that call. And who knows more about God's
call than Zacchaeus, the tax collector? Jesus called
him out of a tree, for goodness' sake. Or perhaps
more correctly, as we reflect upon the end of today's
Gospel reading, for heaven's sake.

since 1980. In 2013, we were accepted into the Diaconate Forma on program of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. We are currently star ng the fourth year of a five-year long program of study and forma on, a er
which, with God’s grace, Steve will be ordained a permanent deacon in June 2018. The deacon serves in three
areas: the Word (proclaiming the Gospel at Mass); the Liturgy (assis ng the priest at the celebra on of the
Mass, bap zing, witnessing marriages, and presiding at funerals); and charity (working with the poor, the
homeless, those in prison, etc.).
On October 15, Steve received the rite of Acolyte, with Bishop David O’Connell
presiding. This is the last rite that is received prior to ordina on as a deacon.
Para quienes no nos conocen, nosotros somos Steve y Peggy Sloniker. Hemos
sido miembros de la parroquia desde 1980. En el 2013, fuimos aceptados en el
programa de formación diaconal de la Arquidiócesis de Los
Ángeles. Actualmente estamos iniciando el cuarto año de un programa de cinco
años de estudio y formación; después del cual, con la gracia de Dios, Steve será ordenado diácono
permanente en junio de 2018. El ministerios del diaconado se enfoca en tres áreas: la palabra (proclamación
del Evangelio en la Misa); la liturgia (ayudando al sacerdote en la celebración de la Misa, bau zar, presenciar
matrimonios y presidir funerales); y la caridad (trabajando con los pobres, los desamparados, en prisión,
etc..).
El 15 de octubre, Steve recibió el rito de acólitado, por Obispo David O'Connell. Este es el úl mo rito que se
recibe antes de la ordenación como diácono.
