ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
In today’s Gospel Jesus said to his disciples: “I have come to
set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how
great is my anguish until it is` accomplished!”
The gift of your volunteering with the Society to help assist
those suffering in poverty can set the earth on fire with God’s
love. Please join us at our next meeting on August 18, 2016 at
7:00pm in Room 1 downstairs. If you would like more
information about membership, please contact us at
[email protected].

Join the Catholic Mothers Council!
The Catholic Mothers Council is just one way for mothers of all ages and stages
(including future moms) to become involved in service and fellowship at Our Lady of
the Lake. The meetings consist of light refreshments, prayer, fellowship and service
opportunities as we focus on Catholic education for mothers and their families. We
raise money through one main event, the St. Nicholas Brunch, in December and the
money raised is earmarked for the religious development of our parish’s children.
The biggest change this year is that we will meet in the evening of the first Thursday
of each month (7‐9pm). We encourage all moms, working inside or outside the
home, to join us and be supported. Proverbs 27:17 tells us that “Iron sharpens iron,
and one man sharpens another.” Let us learn from each other and grow in wisdom
together. We need you!
Our first meeting will be September 1st at 7:00pm in the Holy Family Center. We hope
St. Monica, patron saint
you will join us one night a month to deepen your faith and friendships with our
sisters in Christ.

St. Augustine
usted!

Marriage Ministry
Have you and your spouse ever thought of how you can serve the Lord as a couple?
Great News!! Our Marriage Ministry is looking for married couples to sponsor newly engaged and civilly
married couples.
A sponsor couple is a couple‐to‐couple ministry in which married couples mentor engaged or civilly married
couples. They help couples prepare for the Sacrament of Matrimony. The couple must be married a
minimum of 5 years and be married within the guidelines of the Church.
The couple works with the engaged couples by means of the FOCCUS Program. The goal is to:
• Foster a sense of care and concern in couples and to help them prepare for their commitment to God
and one another within the Church and community.
• Explore with the engaged couple’s issues through the results of a marriage preparation called FOCCUS, or
REFOCCUS.
• Mentor couples on how to worship and pray together.
Provide couples an opportunity to understand the Sacrament of Marriage through the married couple’s lived
experience.
The ministry provides information to couples on the teachings and understanding of the Catholic Church’s
view of the Sacrament of Marriage. Through this ministry couples learn skills that they will use as husband
and wife to draw them closer to God, to the Church, and to each other as a visible sign and reminder of
Christ’s sacrificial love for all people.
This ministry is a great way to strengthen your own marriage as well as help couples prepare for this
sacrament.
For more information contact Martha Orozco, 972‐961‐9385 or email her at [email protected].
MARRIAGE MOMENTS
PARENTING POINTERS
The Assumption. Through Mary, Jesus came into the world. She nurtured him, witnessed his
passion, and stood by the apostles at Pentecost.
Mary's life mirrors God's relationship with us
during times of bliss and agony. Despite being
the mother of God, she focused on those in
need, the hungry, the poor, the lowly. Let go of
your importance today and join Mary.
"Families must do two things to survive - protect
themselves from what is most hurtful and connect
with what is good outside the family. These tasks
require time and energy, both of which are scarce
commodities in an era when many parents work long
hours at jobs." (Mary Pipher) Do you need to adjust
your family balance?
Spes Gregis Seminarian Dinner; keynote speaker; Cardinal Timothy Dolan
Please join Bishop Kevin Farrell and Holy Trinity Seminary at the Spes Gregis Seminarian Dinner on Friday, September
23rd. The evening will kick‐off the 50th anniversary celebration and will bring the community together to celebrate the
Spes Gregis, the hope of the flock. The night will include musical performances and reflections from seminarians, and an
elegant reception and dinner with a keynote address by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York. The pro‐
ceeds from this year’s dinner will go towards the Seminarian Center, a new building which will provide seminarians a
central, updated space to learn, study, exercise, and enjoy each other’s company.
To purchase tickets, volunteer, sponsor a seminarian, learn about underwriting or simply make a donation, please visit
www.holytrinityseminary.org .
