Dr. Sanz has been lecturing on the pharmacology courses in various degrees since 1986, when she was awarded
an FPU grant from the then Ministry of Education and Science. Between 1986 and 1989 she taught practical
classes, seminars and gave lectures on the courses in pharmacodynamics and pharmacognosy, core courses in
the degree in pharmacy. In 1990, she gained a position as assistant professor and took on a greater teaching load
in the department. In 1994, she became an associate professor, after which she assumed a teaching load
equivalent to that of other associate and full professors in the department. She taught mainly practical lessons,
seminars and gave lectures in the above-mentioned degree courses in pharmacy as well as heading various
doctorate courses. In 2003, she began lecturing at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Since then, and up to the
present, she has taught courses in pharmacology and clinical pharmacology in the degree in medicine. She has
also been involved in the Master’s Degree in Research and Rational Use of Drugs organised by the department of
pharmacology.

Dr. Sanz has been a full professor of pharmacology since 2009 and co-director of the Research Group in
Inflammation at the INCLIVA Institute of Health Research. She has published some 87 original articles in indexed
journals, two reviews and nine book chapters. In the indexed journals, 70% of the articles have been published in
journals in the first quartile of the category, with 40% of these being in D1. She has an h index of 29.
She has given a total of 25 guest lectures and seminars at national and international forums. She has undertaken a
number of stays at various overseas research centres: NHLI, Imperial College, London, UK (three years and two
months); Immunology Science Research Group, University of Calgary, Calgary, Canada (one year and nine
months).
She has supervised 10 doctoral theses and, since 1999, has constantly been successful in securing funding as
principal investigator in national and regional competitive calls. She formed part of an EU COST action and she is
a member of the WHRI-ACADEMY consortium, COFUND programme. She is a referee for international journals
(Circulation, Circ. Res., Blood, J. Immunol., Arterioscler. Thromb. Vasc. Biol, J Cell Mol Med, Br. J. Pharmacol.,
etc.) as well as being a member of the editorial board of others.
