We are very proud of all the volunteers who generously gave their time for our deserving children. On behalf of all of our students, THANK YOU!!!! Our Character Trait for the month of January is Integrity Please encourage your children to exhibit their INTEGRITY through their choice of actions and words. Encourage them to think before they act Is it SAFE? Is it NICE? Is it my personal BEST? . . Metas Academicas With the beginning of a new year, we would like to remind you of our commitment to reaching the following goals and would like to seek your absolute support. We only have 77 academic days left before we begin administering the standardized STAR state tests. 75% Proficient and Advanced 15% Basic 8% Below Basic 2% Far Below Basic Todo comienzo de un nuevo año nos da la oportunidad de reflexionar en nuestro compormiso para adquirir las metas siguientes: In order to achieve 75% proficiency, every 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms must have 16 of 20 students score proficient. In 4th and 5th grade we must ensure that 22 out of 30 students score proficient. Do you know your child’s proficiency level? How close is he or she in achieving proficiency? What can you do to ensure he or she does? Ensure that your child has Perfect Attendance. Make sure they come to school every day on time. Your child must read a minimum of 60 minutes daily. Please make an appointment with your child’s teacher to ensure your child’s proficiency. Por favor haga una cita con el maestro/a de su niño/a para asegurar la proficiencia de estudiante. 75% Proficient Advanced 15% Basic 8% BB 2% FBB and Special Thanks from PTA The PTA wants to thank everyone in our community for their support during all of our efforts to raise funds to support the 5th grade students for the science camp trip. Funds Raised September Movie Night October Movie Night November Movie Night December Movie Night Fall Festival Halloween Winter Festival $560.00 $727.49 $908.00 $797.92 $187.00 $396.91 Family Giving Tree We are very fortunate this year once again to be selected to receive one gift for every one of our students. A number of parent and teacher volunteers met during their vacation time under the leadership of Mr. Cinco to pick up, sort and double check the class lists to ensure that every student enrolled at Dorsa receives a gift. This endeavor began last September meeting very tight deadlines. We applied, attended training, asked each student for their wish, entered all the wishes and submitted them to the organization. This would not have been possible without the generosity of many volunteers who donated their valuable time. Thanks to their GENEROSITY, on January 4, 2011 every student at Dorsa went home with a Christmas Gift and a big smile on their beautiful face!
