St. Pius X Catholic Church RCIA Program
Are you high school age or older?
Are you, or someone you know, yearning to experience Jesus Christ’s love and joy more fully?
Is the Holy Spirit nudging you to grow closer to God or to become more active in your faith
through full participation in the Catholic Church?
St. Pius X Parish invites you to explore the possibility of deepening your faith and experiencing
life as a full member of the Catholic Church.
To serve those considering Catholicism and those who have missed some sacraments, the parish is
offering the RCIA program. Those initials stand for: ‘Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults’. The
R.C.I.A. experience can nourish and deepen your faith while ushering you into full participation in the
Catholic Church and the St. Pius X Catholic Community.
We hope you will take some time to consider if this program is right for you, or someone you know. If you are interested in
learning more, please call the parish office at 630-627-4526 and leave your name and telephone number with the parish secretary. It
would also be helpful for you to go to our parish website, stpiuslombard.org, and click on the link ‘Forms.’ (This link is located at
the bottom of the Home page.) You can print the RCIA Inquiry Form, fill it out, and mail it or drop it off at the parish office.
You are also cordially invited to the Evening of Inquiry. The program particulars will be discussed, and we can get to know
each other. This will be an inquiry/informational meeting, so bring any questions along with you. We look forward to meeting you,
and learning how we can help you to make the next steps in completing your journey to the Catholic Church.

Salvation is not forced upon us; we are called to choose it by consuming Christ in Wisdom, Body and Blood. We
may often wonder about our entrance into heaven at the end of time. We are given all we will ever need through
Jesus. In order to be raised with Christ on the last day, we are called to a banquet to be fed by Wisdom of His
Spirit, and by His Body and Blood. This fully incorporates us into Him and Him into us. It is our choice.
Thank you for your continued support of our ministries to the people of God.
Handicap Entrance – A new door is on order for the new entrance; it should be installed
the second week in September. The new handicap parking area on the Madison Street side
should be complete by that time.

Concrete Work – ramp to eliminate step up to the Chapel/St. Vincent dePaul door,
entrance to the new handicap entrance, exit from the sacristy, and sidewalk before the Parish
Office step was completed this week.

pooling. Concrete repairs were made on the Westmore side to eliminate water pooling.
Artwork – artwork was removed at the entrance to the church in the Gathering Space and
will be relocated to the entrance of the pre-school wing. The artwork was painted over vinyl
wallpaper and Jim Maas, the artist, and Tom D’Alessandro were able to remove the artwork
with very little damage. Jim Maas is in the process of preparing the artwork for the new
location. Parishioners that made a donation towards this project were informed about the move in advance. A Crucifix was
placed on the refinished wall.
Stained Glass Windows – the Plexiglas on the front sets of windows will be replaced with clear safety glass.
Tile - Shimanek Hall at the Westmore entrance was retiled to match the rest of the tile in the church.
Bulletin – the deadline for bulletin articles is noon on Friday the week before the bulletin date. When necessary, an article
can be accepted by noon on Monday with notification to Donna Cooper by Friday that a late article is coming. Articles not
received in this timeframe will go in the following week’s bulletin.

UN PUNTO DE ENCUENTRO CON DIOS
REFLEXION
¿Cuándo viniendo a misa no comulgamos no

August is Catholic Charities Month!
Catholic Charities Special Collection Coming Up Soon
A special collection will be held on August 25 & 26 for
Catholic Charities. There are no special envelopes, just a
plea from our hearts for your support.
This year Catholic Charities is facing another challenging
financial year, yet the need for services for the poor
continues to increase. Many of the people that come to
Catholic Charities are families in need of basic items –
things many of us take for granted like food, clothing and
shelter. And 29% of those in need are children.
Because August is Catholic Charities Month, we
encourage you to spend some time finding out more
about Catholic Charities and the programs and services in
your community. You can also volunteer or help organize
an event. For more information call Rosemary Deardurff
at 630-495-8008 x2115 or visit
www.catholiccharitiesjoliet.org. Please support the
Catholic Charities special collection next weekend on
August 25 & 26. Together we are doing God’s work!
Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal
The Catholic Ministries Annual
Appeal will be concluding in our
parish soon. Through this
weekend, we have raised $51,555
toward our goal of $61,884.
Participating in the life of our
Diocesan Church through your
contribution is key to all our efforts. If you have not
joined with thousands of others in giving to this
important mission, please do so today.
It is very important that pledge payments get paid so
that our parish will reach our goal. Once we have
reached our goal in paid pledges, 50% of the additional
funds received will be returned to the parish for our
use.
