As we are surrounded with new beginnings, the start of school, committees starting their monthly meetings, the
parish is also ready for a fresh start.
Last year we celebrated our 50th Anniversary, when we moved on this campus from downtown. Much, if not
most of our contact information is still that old! Land lines have in some cases been replaced with the ever
popular cell phones, email and other social media

Congratulations to Brian Campos and
Thanks to Oscar Melendez
Brian has been promoted to a full time position. He
will continue to be Youth Minister and Confirmation I
& II Director. Additionally, he will begin to be involved in facilities management as Parish needs are
increasing. For example, the Aquinas Center needs
new air conditioners because it is twenty years old. It
will also need commercial refrigerators etc. as they
wear out. Therefore, we will ask crafts men from the
parish to do a survey to determine all of the immediate
facilities needs, and then to project out over time what
other needs to expect and what costs will be involved.
We wish Brian well in his expanded ministries.
We must at the same time appreciate a super volunteer who does so much for the parish. Oscar Melendez
does the financial reports, paying the bills as the come
in and much more. THANK YOU OSCAR! I don’t
know what we would do without you and your wisdom. Brian’s promotion will be able to take some of the
facilities duties from our desks.
Thanks to the generosity of our anonymous parishioner, work is continuing with the update of our outdoor lighting around the parish campus. The various
spotlights around the buildings will be fixed and refitted with more energy-efficient bulbs. We’re also looking into fixing some of the short light posts around the
church and lawn.

PARISH ALERT
There is talk around the parish about a group of parishioners that have been meeting in the library
lately. Well they are right. There is a new group
and we want the whole parish to know what it is all
about. It is identified as a “Fact-Finding Committee.” All we need is another committee, right?
Father Tom asked several parishioners to meet and
form this Fact-Finding Committee. The goal is to
find methods that people in our parish can effectively
communicate their ideas and suggestions. Some of
the avenues that have been proposed are establishing
a parish council, having periodic town hall meetings,
and small group sharing. The utilization of the internet is also being investigated. A preventative maintenance program will also be discussed in order to
identify needs.
These meetings are open, but we would appreciate it
if anyone who would like to speak at the meetings, to
please call the parish office to be placed on the
agenda. We are very enthusiastic in bringing our
parish as close together as possible. Your prayers are
needed to insure the success of our endeavors.

Se habla en torno a la parroquia sobre un grupo de feligreses que se
han estado reuniendo en la biblioteca últimamente. Pues tienen
razón. Hay un nuevo grupo y queremos que toda la parroquia para
saber de qué se trata todo esto. Se identifica como una "Comisión de
Investigación." Todo lo que necesitamos es otro comité, ¿verdad?
Padre Tom pidió a varios feligreses a reunirse y formar este Comité
de Indagación. El objetivo es encontrar métodos que la gente de
nuestra parroquia se pueden comunicar efectivamente sus ideas y
sugerencias. Algunas de las avenidas que se han propuesto son el
establecimiento de un consejo parroquial, que tiene reuniones en el
ayuntamiento periódicas, y compartir en grupo pequeño. La utilización de Internet también está siendo investigado. Un programa de
mantenimiento preventivo también se discutirá con el fin de identificar las necesidades.
Estas reuniones están abiertas, pero agradecería que cualquier persona que le gustaría hablar en las reuniones, a favor llame a la oficina de la parroquia para ser colocado en el orden del día. Estamos
muy entusiasmados en traer nuestra parroquia tan cerca como sea
posible. Se necesitan sus oraciones para asegurar el éxito de nuestros

Father Fernando Lopez Castillo
Padre Fernando López Castillo
Father was born September 17, 1960 in Buena Vista Tomatalan, Michoacan, Mexico. In 1975 after he finished
elementary school “Heroeo de la Reforma” Santa Ana
Amatlan, Michoacan, Mexico. In 1978 he began working
in a factory in El Monte, California, while continuing
work in a convalescent hospital for twenty years in the
dietary department.
Padre nació el 17 de septiembre de 1960 en Buena Vista
Tomatalan, Michoacán, México. En 1975 después de haber
terminado la escuela primaria "Heroeo de la Reforma"
Santa Ana Amatlán, Michoacán, México. En 1978 comenzó
a trabajar en una fábrica en El Monte, California, mientras
que continúa el trabajo en un hospital de convalecencia
durante veinte años en el departamento de dietética.
August of 2000 he entered the Augustinian community of
the province of California. By 2005 he finished his schooling in City College in San Francisco, California.

Returning to his home parish, St. Patrick’s, in North Park,
San Diego, he began his studies for the permanent Diaconate program in the Diocese of San Diego. He was

Patrick’s until 2011.

After he entered St. John’s Seminary, for his diaconate
assignment he was sent here, to St. Thomas Aquinas in
Ojai. He was assigned here after his ordination. Jesus had
said “I came to serve, not be served.” Serving as a priest
is a blessing and also a sacrifice to give myself completely
for the service of my brothers and sisters.
Después ingresó en el Seminario de San Juan, por su
misión diaconal fue enviado aquí, a Santo Tomás de
Aquino en Ojai. Fue asignado aquí después de su ordenación. Jesús había dicho "Yo vine a servir, no ser servido."
Sirviendo como un sacerdote es una bendición y también
un sacrificio para darme por completo al servicio de mis
hermanos y hermanas.
