Markham Public Library now offers a seven week class
that will focus on hands-on after school program for
motivated 13 - 18 year students interested in learning
the nuts and bolts behind video games. Also, class will
focus on internet publishing, character design, storyboards and the reconstruction
of game and animation elements from varying “everyday” technology. Upon
conclusion of classes, student should have a completed animation or game with
sound. Please register at the circulation desk by August 28th. Ages 13-18.

FROM BOOKS TO MOVIES CLUB - Great stories aren't just
composed of words written on a page. If you love books and watching
movies, then you'll love our Read the Movie Discussion Group.
Members will read the book selected, then get together on the 2nd
Saturday to discuss the book, watch the movie and compare them both..
Popcorn and beverages are provided or you may bring your own snack.

and crafts, minimum of 6 books have to be

1ST ANNUAL SPELLING BEE - We’re
looking to see who S-P-E-L-L-S the B-E-S-T! Have you
got what it takes? We are accepting applications for all
ages who can spell on a fifth grade level. Inquire at the
circulation desk. 50 students will participate in the
preliminary round, 25 students will go on to the
semifinals,10 will qualify for our final round.

CROCHET CLUB - Join us for a fun crocheting
experience and enjoy the company of other crochet
members. All skilled level adults are welcomed. Crochet

D-DAY REMEMBERED - John “Doc” Morrissy has put
together a fascinating program with a showing of the Academy
Award nominated documentary. It will be followed by a Q&A
period. Join us to honor the still surviving vets and pay honor
to those that gave their lives for world freedom.

Fall brings cooler weather, the beginning of the school year and a new route for the Bookmobile!
Our collection has grown so come on and take advantage of your local mobile library. Parents we will be
making stops at some of the local schools during school hours. In order for students to check out items
they must have a valid library card. We encourage you to apply for a library card for your children so
they can experience Markham’s first Bookmobile. Library cards can be acquired at the library as well as
on the Bookmobile for Markham and Posen residents for free!
Let’s all work together to continue to make the Bookmobile a success!
