Patricio nació en Santiago de Chile, donde estudió Economía en la Universidad de
Chile. Tras completar estudios de post título en Análisis de Costos y Beneficios,
pasó un breve período en la Oficina Nacional de Planificación (ODEPLAN). En
1976, se unió a Lan Chile como Analista de Planificación hasta alcanzar la
posición de Presidente Ejecutivo de la línea aérea. Posteriormente, se trasladó a
la aerolínea LADECO a trabajar como Consultor Jefe en Planificación Estratégica y
Reorganización (1989-1991). También sirvió de Presidente de AITAL (Asociación
Internacional de Transporte Aéreo Latinoamericano) por 5 años (1985-1989).
Patricio se involucró con IATA por primera vez como Miembro de la Junta de
Gobernadores (1986-1989). También sirvió de Presidente de la Junta (1987-1988).
Desde 1992, ha representado a IATA en América Latina como Director Regional de
Relaciones entre Miembros y Gobiernos. En septiembre de 2003, dejó su empresa
de consultoría privada para unirse formalmente al equipo de IATA, siendo
nombrado Vicepresidente Regional para América Latina y el Caribe.
El idioma nativo de Patricio es el español y también habla y escribe muy bien en
inglés. Es aficionado al fútbol y a los deportes en general, y tiene un fuerte
interés por la tecnología y la historia.

Patricio was born in Santiago, Chile, where he graduated from the University of
Chile with a Major in Economics. After completing post-graduate studies in CostBenefit Analysis, he spent a brief period of time at the National Planning Office
(ODEPLAN). Patricio then joined LanChile (1976-1989) as a Planning Analyst and
worked his way to the position of Executive President of the Airline. Following
this position, he moved to LADECO Airlines as the Chief Consultant on Strategic
Planning and Reorganization (1989-1991). He also served as President of AITAL
(Latin American Air Transport Association) for 5 years (1985-1989).
Patricio first became involved in IATA as a Member of the Board of Governors
(1986-1989). He also served as President of this Board and of the Chair
Committee (1987-1988). Since 1992, he has represented IATA in Latin America as
the Regional Director of Member and Government Relations (Latin America &
Caribbean). In September 2003, he left his private consulting company to
formally join the IATA team and was promoted to Regional Vice President for
Latin American and the Caribbean.
Spanish is Patricio's native language and he also has a very good level of written
and spoken English. He enjoys soccer and sports in general, and has interest in
technology and also in history.
