What do the initials I. H. S. and
I. N. R. I. stand for?
The letters I. H. S. form a monogram for devotional
use of the name of Jesus. It is frequently noted,
especially on the vestments of the priest worn at
Mass. The letters are popularly taken to mean
references to Jesus, Hominum Salvator, Latin words
for Jesus, Savior of Men.
The letters I. N. R. I. was placed over our Lord’s head
on the cross. I. N. R. I. the first four letters of the
Latin words “Jesus Nazarenus Rex Judaeorum,”
meaning, “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.”

A Note from the Administrator...
Dear friends,
Estimados amigos:
The recuperation of our aging buildings is taking time,
and costing money. But thanks to the facilities committee and comments from many well-wishers, we have
made good decisions and are moving forward.
A big challenge recently has been the church building’s
sound system and projection system. It can be very
troubling to come to church and not be able to hear the
homily and prayers or see the words to songs.
The final solution will come when we do our major
church renovation. But that’s at least a year away.
So in the meantime, David Gonzales has spent hours
examining our sound, and thinks our amplification
problems are resolved. (Thanks, Dave!) And Scott
Hacker is researching a better projector and screen arrangement to hold us over. Things will get better!
In the meantime, thanks for your love for our parish,
and your patience.
Peace, All Good!
Fr. Mike
Padre Mike

Christy Serna is one of the
young adult parishioners who
will be serving this year as a
volunteer member of the NET
Mission Staff program. This
program provides an opportunity for missionaries like
Christy, who have demonstrated exceptional leadership
skills while serving with one
of our NET teams, to continue
developing and using their
skills while helping train,
mentor, and administer the work of the incoming members of
this year’s NET teams. Mission staff members hold a variety of
positions, assisting in the recruitment, training, scheduling and
supervision of the retreat work conducted by our NET teams.
NET Ministries’ mission staff members live together in men’s
and women’s households and are provided ongoing formation
and training designed to help them advance in their ministry
skills and grow in personal holiness. Being selected to return as
a member of NET’s mission staff carries with it considerable
responsibility.
We are therefore very grateful for the faith formation that
Christy received as a member of your parish community. We
know it played an important role in Christy’s decision to serve
with us last year and to now offer another year of service on
NET’s mission staff.
