God is present as my helper; the Lord sustains my life (Ps 54:6)
This small prayer from Psalm 54 is a reminder of our call to be
good stewards of the many gifts God shares with us in our life.
Over the next few weeks we, as a parish community, will focus on the gifts and blessing we have received and how we
are invited by God to share the gifts of time, talent and treasure in our daily lives.
The first step is always prayer where we recognize that God is present in
our lives. In each and every moment God’s grace surrounds and sustains us in who we are as his sons and daughters. It is a step as we actively engage with God in the conversation of prayer.
During the past months in the bulletin I have been referencing Matthew
Kelly’s book Rediscover Jesus that we received at the beginning of the
Lenten season this past year. He reminds us of the active nature of our
faith life and how we join with God in the blessings and sorrows of life in
sharing our life in the relationship of genuine and true love founded in
our call to be followers of Jesus Christ. (Continued page 5..)

(Pastor’s Notes Continued form page 1)
He writes, “Are we proactively seeking Jesus? Are we making an effort to experience him? Are we curious
about him? Are we in a hurry to meet him? Are we happy to welcome him? What Change is your heart prescribing for your life?” (p 106)
There are a lot of questions in this short excerpt from his book but they are the questions we ask in all deep
and growing relationships in our life. In seeking deeper and fuller relationships in our life we discover our true
self and how we are called to enter into a sacrificial relationship of love and blessing as we discover how God
sustains our life.
Please take time in prayer asking the questions and discovering our call to share of the time, talent and treasure of life. It is the joyful and diligent search for God as Matthew Kelly reminds us, “I say diligently because
being a Christian requires proactive intentionality. It doesn’t just happen. It requires us to actively seek out
God and his will in situations of daily life, and to work each day to close the gap between the person we are
and the person he created us to be. It is striving to be the-very-best-version-of-ourselves, and it animates
us.” (p 113)
God Bless, Fr. Mark
(Notas del Párroco, continuado de la pagina 1)
Él escribe: “¿Estamos buscando a Jesús proactivamente? ¿Estamos haciendo un esfuerzo para experimentarlo? ¿Estamos curiosos acerca de El? ¿Estamos felices de recibirlo? ¿Qué cambio está prescribiendo tu
corazón para tu vida?” (p 105)
Que Dios los bendiga, El Padre Mark
RECONCILIATION
RECONCILIACIÓN
True reconciliation is emotional, dramatic, and cleansing. When two people meet heart to heart and work
through old hurts, misunderstandings, and careless
words, cleansing tears often flow and the encounter
ends with an embrace that fills both with the warmth
of a love too strong to fade.
The readings this weekend assure us of this healthy
release that comes with reconciliation. They give us
the courage to reach out to someone with whom we
need to reconcile ourselves, and give us the courage
to ask for forgiveness from God, too.
In the reading from Exodus, we see how God refuses
again and again to give up on the Israelites. Even
though they grow impatient with God and turn to false
idols, God still calls them back. Luke's Gospel assures us that God rejoices when we turn away from
sin. Paul's letter to Timothy encourages us, like Paul,
to look back on our lives and recognize where God's
patient mercy has been shown to us.
La verdadera reconciliación es emocional, dramática
y purificadora.

The Church celebrates the newest Saint:
St. Teresa of Calcutta
How does one become a Saint?
For almost the first millennium of the Church’s life,
there was no centralized canonization process with
investigation into the person’s life and miracles attributed to his or her intercession. The local Church
recognized as saints holy women and men whose life
and death demonstrated great virtue.
The term “Servant of God” now describes someone at
the start of the entire process, which begins in the local diocese and eventually moves to the Holy See’s
Congregation for the Causes of the Saints. A person
whose life and writings have been formally investigated can be declared Venerable. Martyrs do not need a
miracle for beatification. For others, after a miracle
has been investigated and accepted by separate
committees of doctors, theologians, and cardinals, the
person is approved for beatification.
The final step for canonization is the verification of
two miracles attributed to that holy person’s intercession, both of which undergo intense scrutiny.
