SFC News
We have been engaged in a number of community
building learning activities. Last week 6-8th grade
students attended Outspoken, an innovative play
designed to help young people find new ways to move
past their differences to a real place of acceptance and
understanding. Thanks to Bill, our former algebra
teacher, for coordinating the inspiring event. Friday we
hosted our restorative practices consultant from
International Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP).
SFC’s coach met with staff, observed restorative
practices in action, and modeled circles for staff and
students in several classrooms. The middle school task
force (student government) and Karen and Mary are
working to plan our first K-8 whole school assembly
for next week. The assemblies will focus on reinforcing
schoolwide expectations as well as building community.
There is no afterschool program next Tuesday
(November 15th) in order for the full staff community to
meet together. Please arrange for pick up at 2:15pm or
for your child to attend the Boys & Girls Club.

Parent Action Committee Meeting: Thurs Nov 17th at
6:00pm. Dinner and Childcare provided.
Strong Individuals
We support students to be strong individuals
through the following classroom and school
activities:
8th: Two weeks ago we held High School Night for 8 th
students and families at SFC. Last week and this week
8th grade students are going on orientations and tours at
high schools throughout the city in order to make
informed choices about their next important educational
option. Thank you to Susi for her hard work in putting
this all together.
Afterschool Program (ASP): Ricardo, our ASP director,
received two grants. One for a new dance enrichment
program and one for computers and a new computer
enrichment consultant! Also, the afterschool program
would like to begin several enrichment activities at the
Boys & Girls Club. In order to do so we need all
families of students enrolled in the SFC afterschool
program to also complete B&G Club application forms.
Your children will still be supervised by afterschool
program staff as they participate in enrichment activities.

noviembre Noticias de SFC
Hemos tenido varias actividades de aprendizaje y para
fortalecer la comunidad. La semana pasada los
alumnos de grados 6-8 asistieron a una obra de teatro
llamado Vocero (“Outspoken” en inglés), que tiene el
propósito de ayudar a los jóvenes la capacidad de
sobrepasar sus diferencias hacia un lugar de entender
y aceptarse. Gracias a Bill, el antiguo maestro de
algebra, por coordinar este evento inspirador. Viernes
tuvimos un consultor sobre las prácticas restaurativas
del Instituto Internacional de la Prácticas
Restaurativas (IIRP por sus siglas en inglés). Se
reunió con el personal escolar, observaba las prácticas
en acción, y mostraba como dirigir los círculos para el
personal y estudiantes en unas aulas. El comité de
liderazgo de la escuela intermedia (el gobierno
estudiantil) Karen y Mary están trabajando para
planear una asamblea para toda la escuela, grados K8, la próxima semana. Las asambleas van a enfocar en
fortalecer las expectativas escolares y la comunidad.
No hay programa después de escuela el próximo
martes (15 de noviembre) porque hay una reunión de
todo el personal escolar. Por favor, recoger a su hijo a
2:15pm ó arreglar que asista al Boys & Girls Club.

Individuos Fuertes
Apoyamos a los estudiantes a ser individuos fuertes a
través de estas actividades:
8° grado: Hace dos semanas tuvimos la Noche de
Información sobre las Escuelas Secundarias para las familias y alumnos del 8° grado. La semana pasada y esta semana los alumnos del 8° grado van a las orientaciones y giras de escuelas secundarias de San Francisco para poder tomar una decisión informada sobre sus opciones educativas importantes. Gracias a Susi para su trabajo duro en organizar todo eso. Programa Después de Escuela: Ricardo, el director del programa después de escuela, ha recibido dos becas: ¡una para un nuevo programa de baile, y otra para nuevas computadoras y un consultor sobre la computación! Al mismo tiempo, el programa después de escuela quiere empezar unas actividades en el Boys & Girls Club. Para poder hacerlo, se necesita que todos los alumnos de nuestro programa también cumplan el formulario de inscribirse en el Club. Sus hijos todavía estarán supervisados por personal del programa después de escuela de SFC cuando participen en actividades de enriquecimiento. Cena “Potluck” para Segundo & Tercer Grado:
martes, 8 de nov. a 6pm. Después hay una orientación
para la clase de Ginny, 7:30-8. Cuidado para niños.

有力的個人
我們參與多個建立群體的學習活動。上個星期六
至八年級的學生出席 Outspoken 一個創新的戲
劇，目的在幫助青少年尋找新方法，超越不同，
從而接受和理解對方。感謝我們的前代數教師 Bill
統籌此啟示性的活動。在星期五我們招待來自國
際復和實踐（IIRP）的復和實踐顧問。三藩市社區
學校的導師和教職員會談，觀察復和實踐之作
業，並在多個課室向教職員和學生示範圈子討
論。初中工作小組（學生會）和 Karen 和 Mary
在設計下個星期舉行的首次幼稚園至八年級全校
集會。這些集會將集中於加固對全校學生之期望
以及建立群體感。
我們通過以下的課室和學校活動，支持學生成為
有力的個人：
下個星期二（十一月十五日）將無課後計劃，以
便全體教職員可舉行會議。請安排在下午二時十
五分接回孩子，或讓孩子前往男女童群體會。
有力的群體
二／三年級家庭百樂餐會：十一月八日星期二下
午六時，然後是Ginny課室輔導會，下午七時卅分
至八時。提供托兒。
退伍軍人日學校放假：十一月十一日星期五。
MZuri年度感恩節慶祝會：十一月十二日星期六。
請和我們一起享用晚餐和慶祝感恩鄱。
家長行動委員會會議：十一月十七日星期四下午
六時。提供晚餐和托兒。
八年級：兩個星期前我們為八年級生和家庭舉行
高中之夜。上個星期和這個星期八年級學生將參
加本市各高中的輔導會和參觀活動，以便在他們
做下一個重要教育選擇時，能做知情的選擇。感
謝 Susi 辛勤組織此一切。
課後計劃：我們的課設計劃主任 Ricardo 收到兩份
津貼。一個用於新的舞蹈充實計劃，一個用於電
腦和一名新的電腦顧問！此外，課後計劃同時在
男女童群益會開始多個充實活動。為此，我們需
要所有課後計劃學生的家庭，同時填交男女童群
益會的表格。在參與這些充實活動時，課後計劃
的職員仍負責監督你們的孩子。
