TRADITION
Tradition is long human memory set, not in stone, but
in human interaction. Without this active memory, the
bonds of relationship and affection fray and fall apart.
Communities dissolve as surely as neglected buildings do.
After participating in events, celebrations, and even small
rituals, we remark about how good it is to gather and
remember.
Today’s readings remind us of foundations laid deeper
than the human will to relate. Today we hear about God’s
will to relate to us—to be our God as we are called to be
God’s own beloved people.
Today in three readings and three ways we remember
the covenant bonds that create us as a people and the
obligation and responsibility that express the innermost
attitude of soul. You are mine. I am yours. These are God’s
words that created a people as surely as “Let there be light”

SACRED HEART ALTAR SOCIETY - The Sacred
Heart Altar Society will hold their monthly meeting
on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. We will meet at the
Parish Center, in the Sacred Heart Room, at 1:00 P.M.

BIBLE STUDY—Come join us for a lively discussion and
adventure this fall as we open our bibles and read through the
Gospel of Mark. We will begin on September 17, Thursday

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL #1948 BREAKFAST – The KC are
hosting a 5th Sunday breakfast TODAY
from 7-11:30 am in their hall at
270 Rianda St. – just off E. Alisal, near
PG&E and CVS drug store. The meal will include
eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, SOS, fried potatoes,
biscuits, and fruit – all you can eat. The costs: $10
(kids under 11 free).

ANNUAL MISSION CO-OP APPEAL Father Luis Carlos De Leon will be
speaking at all Masses this weekend
describing the work of his society, the
Missionary Fraternity of Mary of Guatemala
and requesting support. He has been invited
to our parish by the Mission office of our
Diocese. Begun in 1981 as a youth ministry
with 7 young men, the Fraternity was
subsequently established as a Society for
Apostolic Life in 1990. It has grown to over
150 ordained priests serving 64 missions in
11 countries. There are 170 seminarians in
various stages of formation at the seminary
in Guatemala. Please welcome Fr. Luis
Carlos and support the work of the
Fraternity. Visit the web at

El padre Luis Carlos de León hablará en
todas las misas describiendo el trabajo de su
sociedad, la Fraternidad del Misionero de
Maria de Guatemala y solicitando el apoyo.
