a iya ika-22 nga tuig, ang Jaro Parish Youth Ministry, nagpatigayon
sang mga hilikuton sa pagpabakod sang pagtu-o sang mga pamatan-on
nga may kaangtanan sa iya tema: “Youth: Strengthening Faith Through
Building Church in the Neighborhood”.
Oktubre 26, 2013, alas-singko sang aga, adlaw sang amon anibersaryo
kag amon turno sa Dawn Rosary. Ang pagpangamuyo sang Santos nga Rosaryo amo ang nahauna nga hilikuton sa sina nga adlaw. Pagkatapos, nagsimba kami kag dayon, nag-exercise, naghiwat sang Taebo for the Lord nga
ginpangunahan ni John Cedrick Dapat. Alas-nueve sang aga, namati kami
sa amon speaker nga si Benje Pelobello. Siya nagpa-ambit sang iya kaalam
sa pagdepensa sang pagtu-o. Tanan kami nagpamati kag nangin interesado
gid sa iya mga ginapanghambal. Kami na amaze sa mga kamatu-oran nga

1. Paano mo bala ginapangita
ang Dios sa imo kabuhi? Nagabulig ka man bala sa iban nga mabatyagan nila ang paghigugma

Paano ikaw nagpasalamat sa Iya?

2013—The parish of the
Holy Name of Jesus in
Arevalo, Iloilo City will hold
the irst ever alternative Halloween celebration in Iloilo.
Arevalo parish priest
Msgr. Amadeo Escañan, announced that the Holy Name
of Jesus Parish will celebrate
October 31—as alternative
Halloween,— the festival of
all holy men and women.
Msgr. Escañan explained
that, instead of the usual festival of ghouls, goons and
ghosts, his parish will celebrate on the eve of the Solemnity of All Saints with a
Procession of Saints, explaining that Halloween, held usually in exclusive villages and
shopping malls, has become
overly-commercialized.
In the Procession of all
Saints that will be held at the
Sto. Niño de Arevalo Parish
on October 31, the public is
invited to assemble in the
parish grounds at 3:30 p.m.
to witness the representation
of the saints. Five children
from each of the 10 barangays of the parish will represent a particular saint.
Msgr. Escañan noted
that October 31 is also the last
day of the Month of the Holy
Rosary. His parish will also
hold on that day a Marian
Procession with the prayer
of the Holy Rosary and the
Holy Mass as the itting
ways to honor Holy Mary as
the Queen of All Saints and
the Mother of our Lord Jesus
Christ.
The Church, particularly
in the provinces of Panay, has
lamented the phenomenon
of people falling into superstitious beliefs and practices.
It can be recalled that
only a few years ago, in 2006,
the Archdiocese of Capiz issued a statement calling for a
stop to the annual “Aswang
Festival” in the province,
saying it increases the appeal
of witchcraft to many people
and that the festival makes
“evil” characters appear
“cool and innocent.”
The same Archdiocesan
statement warned that these
mystical igures, such as the
“aswang” (witch), can become dangerous once they
enter into the psyche of the
(people) and form part of the
culture of Capiz.
By celebrating the Procession of Saints, it is hoped
that by watching the procession young children, the
faithful will be reminded of
the fundamental call of all
the baptized to a life of holiness especially in the Year of
Faith.
To further emphasize the
teaching of the Catholic Faith
on the Communion of Saints,
the celebration of All Saints
Day and the commemoration of the faithful departed
will be given their full spiritual meaning through the
celebration of the Holy Mass
in the churches and cemeteries of the parishes of Iloilo on
October 31, November 1, and
November 2. The faithful are
encouraged to offer suffrages, especially Masses, for the
holy souls.
Aside from the spiritual
aspect of the Communion
of Saints, parishes in Iloilo
have appealed to the faithful to help the victims of the
recent earthquake in Bohol.
Donations received by the
parishes will be forwarded

Villegas to keynote 35th CMMA
M
ANILA, Oct. 28, 2013—Lingayen-Archbishop Socrates
Villegas, incoming president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP)
will be the guest of honor and keynote speaker in the Catholic Mass
Media Awards (CMMA) on Nov.
15 at the GSIS Theater, CCP Complex, Pasay City.
Villegas, who starts his CBCP
term on Dec. 1, will speak on the
topic “Social Networks: portals
of truth and faith; new spaces for
evangelization,” which is the theme
of the 2013 CMMA, based on the
message of Pope Emeritus Benedict
XVI for World Communications
Day.
The CMMA is an annual
awards tradition established in
1978 by the late Jaime L. Cardinal
Sin, then Archbishop of Manila,
to honor “those who serve God
through the mass media.”
The award body is headed by
Ambassador Antonio L. Cabangon
Chua as president and chairman of
the board of trustees, and Manila
Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Car-
dinal Tagle, as honorary chairman.
Cabangon Chua has been
heading the organization since
2000, when the post was offered to
him by Cardinal Sin.
Fr. Ruino C. Sescon Jr., a
member of the board of trustees,
is executive director, while Fr. Joselito Buenafe, also a trustee, is
chairman of the CMMA Production. Fr. Hans Magdurulang is special coordinator with the CMMA
panels of judges.
To date, the CMMA has been
conferred on more than 2,000
practitioners whose works were
deemed best values-oriented mass
media projects in the ields of print,
radio, television, music, cinema,
advertising, Student CMMA and
the Internet.
The panels of judges agree
upon the awards chosen by organizers and conirmed by the Archbishop of Manila.
Judges are mostly communication practitioners but also include academicians, civic and religious leaders and members of the

Pope: Pray as a Family!

ctober 28, 2013 Over
100,000 people from
different parts of the
world came out to St. Peter’s Square to take part in
the ‘Day for the Family.’ As
Pope Francis got ready to celebrate Mass, he took a quick
glance at his watch to make
sure he was on schedule.
During his homily, the
Pope connected prayer to
humility, by explaining that
humility comes from recognizing that one needs God.
“All families need God.
Every single one. We need His
help, His strength, His blessing,
His mercy and His forgiveness.
It takes simplicity. To pray as a
family, simplicity is needed.”
The Mass falls under
the events organized under
the ‘Year of Faith.’ The Pope
relected on St. Paul, by explaining that part of keeping
the faith, comes with sharing it. Even when families
are pressed for time, he said,
prayer should not be ignored.
“As a family, you can pray
the ‘Our Father’ around the dinner table. That’s not dificult to
do, it’s easy. Praying the rosary together, as a family is very
beautiful and it gives strength.
Also praying for one another:
A husband for his wife and a
wife for her husband. Parents
praying for their children and
children for their parents and
grandparents. Praying for one
another.”
The Pope described
Christian families as missionary families. He said
transmitting the faith often
comes with simply expressing joy in everyday life.
At the end of the Mass, the
Pope prayed before an image
of the Holy Family, asking for
God to reawaken an awareness of the sacred and irreplaceable role of the family.
