1st Annual Short Film Festival “Stories of Lawrence”
(in conjunction with Jazz Festival)

ABOUT: Film/Video can tell a story like no other medium. This festival encourages the creation and sharing of short
films/videos that feature a story about or feature Lawrence, MA. All entries will be reviewed by community leaders in
partnership with Essex Art Center. Some submissions may not be accepted. Filmmakers of all ages are encouraged to
submit work as awards will be given in Youth and Adult categories.
Rules & Terms
ELIGIBILITY
Submitted short films must:
• share a story about or feature Lawrence, MA.
• be at least 2 minutes, but no more than 8 minutes in length.
• be submitted before the deadline of Thursday, July 28th
• you can submit up to 3 short films, but not all may be included in the festival
EXHIBITION FORMATS: All Films must be available for the festival exhibition on USB or Google Drive Download.
LANGUAGE: Films produced in languages other than English must have English sub-titles.
MARKETING: Your entry authorizes Essex Art Center to use clips of your film for marketing and promotional purposes on
online, in advertising, news and/or other media.
ADDITIONAL TERMS OF ENTRY: Entry confirms and warrants required legal authority to submit the entry into the festival
and to use ALL music, images, and content in the entry. This means that when you submit your film/video, you are
guaranteeing that you have the permission to submit. And, by submitting, you guarantee that all of the music and image
rights have been secured.
THE FINE PRINT: By submitting this film, I understand that I am agreeing to the following:
I own or control the copyright in and to, and am duly authorized to submit this film to the Essex Art Center and to the
best of my knowledge, all statements on this document are true. This film/video contains no material which could result
in tort claims, royalty claims, claims for breach of contract, or claims of any sort whatsoever.
I fully indemnify and hold Essex Art Center and its partners harmless from: a) damage to or loss of the video in
transmission to Essex Art Center during the course of festival possession of the entry; and b) from and claims which may
arise in connection with this film. If a claim arises in connection with this film, I will bear all the costs of defense incurred
by Essex Art Center and pay any award of damages that may ensue. I also agree to reimburse Essex Art Center for any
attorney fees incurred in connection with the defense of such a claim.
I understand that all submissions are subject to being accepted or rejected by jury review and Essex Art Center is not
required to accept my film/video into the short film festival. I understand that films with nudity, profane language and
violence may be excluded.
By submitting my film, I am indicating that I understand, comply with and agree to the Terms of Entry and the eligibility
requirements.

ACERCA DE: Cine / Video puede contar una historia como ningún otro medio. Este festival fomenta la creación y el
intercambio de películas / vídeos de cortometraje que cuentan una historia o característica de Lawrence, MA. Todos los
trabajos serán revisados por líderes de la comunidad en asociación con Essex Art Center. Algunas presentaciones
pueden no ser aceptadas. Se invita a los cineastas de todas edades a presentar su trabajo, premios serán entregados en
categorías para jóvenes y adultos.
Reglas y términos:
ELEGIBILIDAD
Cortometrajes deben incluir:

FORMATO DE EXHIBICIÓN: Todas las películas deben estar disponibles para el festival en USB o Google Drive download.
IDIOMA: Las películas producidas en idiomas distintos del Inglés deben tener subtítulos en inglés.
MARKETING: Su entrada autoriza al Essex Art Center a usar clips de la película para fines comerciales y promocionales en
línea, noticias y otros medios de comunicación.
CONDICIONES ADICIONALES DE ENTRADA: Entrada confirma y garantiza la autoridad legal que se requiere al presentar la
entrada en el festival y da Permiso de utilizar TODA la música, imágenes y el contenido de la entrada. Esto significa que
al momento de enviar su película / vídeo, está garantizando que usted tiene los permisos correspondientes para
presentar. Y, mediante la presentación, usted garantiza que todos los derechos de autor de música e imágenes han sido
asegurados y garantizados para su uso.
LETRA PEQUEÑA: Mediante la presentación de esta película, entiendo que estoy de acuerdo con lo siguiente:
Me pertenecen o controlo los derechos de autor en y para, y estoy debidamente autorizado para presentar esta película
al Essex Art Center y en la medida de mis conocimientos, todas las declaraciones en este documento son ciertos. Esta
película / video no contiene ningún material que pudiera dar lugar a demandas de responsabilidad civil, la exigencia de
regalías, las reclamaciones por incumplimiento de contrato, o reclamaciones de cualquier tipo.
Estoy totalmente listo de compensar y mantener a Essex Art Center y sus socios colaboradores inofensivos de: a) los
daños o pérdida de vídeo en la transmisión de Essex Art Center durante el curso y la posesión de la entrada al festival ; y
b) y de reclamaciones que puedan surgir en relación con esta película. Si una reclamación se plantea en relación con
esta película, voy a asumir la responsabilidad de todos los gastos de defensa incurridos por Essex Art Center y pagar
indemnización por daños que puedan derivarse de ello. También estoy de acuerdo para reembolsar al Essex Art Center
por los costos de abogados incurridos en relación con la defensa de tal demanda.
