The RARA item of the month is rice. Volunteers Working with Parish Children & Youth: The Diocese requires that all volunteers must attend a VIRTUS training session to be certified in this child-protection program. The earliest and closest one is at St. Francis of Assisi, Staunton, on Sat., Sept. 12, from 2-5 p.m. And, a ScreeningOne background check is required every 3 years. To comply, simply stop by the parish office and fill out the paperwork. This is required for those teaching our children or youth, driving them to events, chaperoning, and hosting parish activities in their homes. Haiti Collection: We are collecting donations for our next shipment to Fond Pierre, Haiti. Please donate school supplies (pens, paper, folders, pencils, solar calculators, chalk and erasers, rulers, etc.), soccer balls, backpacks, and basketballs. Please leave your donations in the “Haiti” Collection basket in the narthex of the church. THANK YOU for your generosity! Holy Father’s Prayer Intentions: UNIVERSAL: Opportunities for the Young. That opportunities for education and employment may increase for all young people. EVANGELIZATION: Catechists. That catechists may give witness by living in a way consistent with the faith they proclaim. Habitat Hotel is a BIG fund raiser for building homes in Rockbridge County. W&L Parent's Weekend is October 2-4 this year. Our committee is seeking local families to provide accommodations for the parents. The parents pay Habitat for the nights that they stay in local homes. All that is needed is a bed and clean sheets and a bathroom. Some people provide juice and coffee, but it is not expected. If you can participate in Habitat Hotel, please contact Peggy Riethmiller at [email protected] or 463-7749.
