The Holy Father speaks….. In order to receive what God gives us and to make it bear abundant fruit, we need to press beyond the boundaries of the visible Church by uniting ourselves in prayer with the Church in heaven. The prayers of the Church on earth establish a communion of mutual service and goodness which reaches up into the sight of God. Together with the saints who have found their fulfillment in God, we form part of that communion in which indifference is conquered by love. Anyone who wishes to be merciful must have a strong and steadfast heart, closed to the tempter but open to God. A heart which lets itself be pierced by the Spirit so as to bring love along the roads that lead to our brothers and sisters. PAGE THREE JUNE 7, 2015 Next weekend, June 13/14, 2015, as part of the Missionary Cooperative Plan of the Diocese of Brooklyn, we welcome Heart’s Home. Founded in 1990, Heart's Home is a Catholic Movement present in 24 countries. A "heart's home" is a house of prayer and hospitality, where anyone knocking at the door is welcome and listened to. Each house is made of 4 or 5 young adults -- volunteers, priests, religious sisters or lay consecrated -- who reach out everyday to the most suffering and isolated, in a spirit of friendship and compassion, following the example of Mary, who stood at the foot of the cross. In New York, Heart's Home runs a center in the housing projects of Fort Greene (Brooklyn), a retreat center in the Catskills, and has sent over 70 American volunteers on long-term missions overseas. We thank you in advance for your continued support of the missions. Congratulations! to all the students who have received Sacraments in May. We want to acknowledge their teachers who have dedicated time each week to teaching our faith and preparing for the grace of Confirmation and First Holy Communion.
