Today the church is dressed up for the Feast of Our
Lady of Guadalupe that takes place Saturday, December
12. Hundreds of people came that morning to
prayerfully sing greetings and expressions of love to the
Virgin Mother of God. This past week we also had the
opportunity to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate
Conception, making this a very Marian week. The
Immaculate Conception celebrates Mary’s singular
honor and privilege to be chosen, from the moment of
her conception, as the Mother of Jesus. The perfection
that was given to her was meant for Jesus so that the Son
of God could be made man in a pure and holy body
worthy of Him. The apparitions of Mary in Mexico are
another reminder of the honor that was hers. In her
apparition as Our Lady of Guadalupe she is pregnant;
she is fulfilling the role for which she was prepared in
her Immaculate Conception. More than any other
human in history Mary is exemplary in demonstrating
man’s cooperation with God in the role of salvation. In
her body God became a man so that man in turn can
become like God. Thus, in honoring Mary we honor her
great role in giving us the Savior. The Church and all of
humanity are indebted to her for her, “yes” to God’s will
to be the mother of His Son. For this reason Mary is
singled out from among all the saints for special praise
and honor. In honoring Mary we are honoring the one
who was specially chosen and prepared by God to
participate so intimately in the bringing of salvation to
the world. Reflecting on Mary becomes a great way to
prepare for Christmas because she too had to be
prepared; she too had to be made ready for the birth of
her Lord.
Hoy vemos la iglesia adornada con flores para la
celebración de la fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.
La mañana del sábado vinieron decenas de personas para
saludar y mostrar amor a nuestra Madre con las
mañanitas. En esta semana también tuvimos la
oportunidad de celebrar la fiesta de la Inmaculada
Concepción haciendo esta semana un semana muy
Mariana. La fiesta de la Inmaculada Concepción celebra
el honor y privilegio singular de María que fue escogida
por Dios desde el momento de su concepción para ser la
Madre de su Hijo. La perfección que ella recibió fue
para Jesús, para que el Hijo de Dios pudiera hacerse
hombre en un cuerpo puro, santo y digno de El. Las
apariciones de la Virgen en México sirven como otro
recordatorio del honor que fue de ella. En esas
apariciones la Virgen esta en cinta; se presenta
cumpliendo el fin por el cual recibió la dicha de su
Inmaculada Concepción. Mas que ninguna otra persona
en la historia María es ejemplar en su cooperación con
Dios para la salvación del mundo. En ella, Dios se hizo
hombre para que el hombre se pudiera hacer como Dios.
Por eso, el honor que le damos a María es por que de ella
recibimos al Salvador. La Iglesia, y toda la humanidad,
esta endeudada a María por el, “si” que ella dio a
cumplir la voluntad del Padre que ella fuera la madre de
su Hijo. Por esta razón a la Virgen se la da honor y
alabanza diferente a los otros santos. Honrando a María
estamos honrando a la que fue escogida por Dios a
participar de un modo tan íntimo en la salvación.
Reflexionando en María es un modo bueno de
prepáranos para la Navidad, por que también ella tuvo
que ser preparada para recibir a su Señor.

Why is the 3rd Sunday of Advent Rose?
Advent is a time of penance and the
ordinary liturgical color is violet. On
Gaudete (Latin: Rejoice) Sunday, we
recognize the joyful anticipation of the
season that will culminate in the birth of
Christ on Christmas by changing the
liturgical color to rose. Rose is a
“brightening” of the ordinary violet and
thus symbolizes joy. (www.catholic.com)

¿Qué significado tiene el color rosa el 3er
domingo de Adviento?
El Adviento es un tiempo de penitencia y el
color litúrgico ordinario es morado. En
Gaudete (latín: Alégrate) domingo,
reconocemos la anticipación gozosa de la
temporada que culminará en el nacimiento de
Cristo en la Navidad cambiando el color
litúrgico que se levantó. Rosa es un "brillo" del
morado ordinaria y por lo tanto simboliza la

from 11:30am to 1:00pm and 5:00pm to 7:00pm
so Catholics across the state of Idaho can return
to this incredible source of God’s grace,
mercy and healing. At Our Lady of the Valley,

Sponsor Contract Due
If your child is in their 2nd year of First Communion
preparation class this year, you are required to turn
in a green sponsor contract signed by your child’s
sponsor. Please submit this contract no later than
Monday, Dec. 21. If you have questions, contact
Sheri in the parish office at 459-3653.
Dec. 20: Life Night at OLV
Teens are invited to a Life Night at OLV on Dec. 20. The
night includes a family Mass, tacos for dinner, and trivia
with prizes. St. Paul’s teens will join us. They outnumbered
us for the first Life Night in October—let’s get them back at
our place! Here is the schedule for the night:
5:00-6:00PM MASS
The entire family is invited to Mass with great
music, dynamic preaching, and the real
presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.
6:00-6:30PM TACOS
Following Mass, teens should gather in Holy
Family Hall (gym) for tacos prepared by the
great cooks from our parish.
6:30-7:30PM TRIVIA
Teens will compete in a trivia challenge at
their tables to see who has the most useless
knowledge to spare. Prizes will be awarded to
the winning table.
Donate Candy for Christmas Project
The children in our program will be making handmade
Christmas cards to include in this year’s food boxes for
those in need in our community. Parents—we would like to
include a sweet treat. Donate wrapped chocolate candies
to your child’s teacher or drop off at the parish office before
December 18th. Thank you!
Bicycles for Christmas
Boy Scout Troop #277 & Knights of Columbus Caldwell
Council #3086 are taking applications from children who
would like a bike but do not have access to one. Over 30
bikes are being donated by Darwin & Sharon Schweitzer.
If you child would like to apply for a bicycle, please have
them complete an application which can be found online
at www.olvcaldwell.org or in the parish office. Deadline is
December 19th.

La forma de padrino
Si su hijo está en el segundo año de preparación para
recibir la primera comunión este año, es requerido que
entregué la forma verde firmada por los padrinos de su
hijo/a. Por favor lleve esta forma a la oficina de la parroquia el ultimo día para entregarla es el lunes 21 de diciembre. Si usted no recibió esta forma cuando registro a
su hijo/a o tiene preguntas referentes a esto, llame a
Sheri a la oficina.
20 de Dic: Life Night en NSV
Los jóvenes están invitados el 20 de Diciembre a una convivencia
en NSV. La convivencia incluye una misa familiar, cena con tacos, y trivial con premios. Los jóvenes de la Parroquia de San
Pablo asistirán también a esta convivencia familiar. Ellos nos superaron en asistencia en la primera convivencia familiar que fue
en octubre en San pablo esperamos tener más asistencia de jóvenes de NSV! Este es el horario de la noche:
5:00-6:00PM MISA
Toda la familia esta invitada a misa conmúsica,
predicación, dinámicas y la presencia real de
Jesucristo en la Eucaristía.
6:00-6:30PM TACOS
Después de la misa los jovenes tendran una
convivencia en el salon La Sagrada Familia (gym
tendremos tacos preparados por los cocineros de
nuestra parroquia.
6:30-7:30PM TRIVIA
Los Jóvenes competirán en un desafío trivial en
sus mesas para ver quién tiene el más competente.
Proyecto de Navidad
Los niños haran tarjetas de navidad durante su clase de
educacion religiosa estas tarjetas las incluiremos en las cajas de
comida de Navidad para darles un toque agradabe. Para los
necesitados de nuestra comunidad padres por favor de traer sus
donaciones. Pueden traer dulces o chocolates envueltos a la
clase a la oficina parroquial antes del 18 de diciembre.
BICICLETAS PARA NAVIDAD
Los Niños exploradores de la tropa # 277 y los Caballeros de
Colón de NSV en Caldwell # 3086 están recibiendo las
aplicaciones de los niños a quienes les gustaría tener una
bicicleta, y no tienen una. Más de 30 bicicletas han sido
donadas por Darwing y Sharon Schweitzer. Si su hijo/a le
gustaría obtener una bicicleta, por favor complete una
aplicación que se puede encontrar en la página de internet

Most of us cannot imagine not being able to give our families
the basic needs in life. Things as simple as underwear are
one of those needs. IT’S EASY!! Bring one package of new
underwear for each member of your family in
the sizes they wear—young, old, men, women,

over 350 people a full-sized delicious meal! What a
joyous celebration we had!
