SOCCA ANNOUNCES SAVINGS BONDS ISSUED BY THE ABORIGINAL SAVINGS CORPORATION OF CANADA
(ABSCAN) IN COOPERATION WITH THE CONSEIL DE LA NATION HURONNE·WENDAT (CNHW)
Series CNHW 2012-A, five-year term (4% interest rate) and series CNHW 2012-8, ten-year term (4.5% interest rate)
Wendake, March 30, 2012 - The Aboriginal Savings Corporation of Canada (ABSCAN) to issue two new series of
bonds available April 1, 2012.
Mr. Jean Vincent, President and General Manager of SaCCA, announced that the Aboriginal Savings Corporation of Canada
will issue two new series of bonds in cooperation with the Conseil de la Nation huronne-wendat. The two bond series total
$5.5 million; $3.5 million for bond issue CNHW 2012-A and $2 million for bond issue CNHW 2012-B. The interest rate for the
five-year term is 4% per year and the ten-year term has an interest rate of 4.5% per year. Both may be purchased by Quebec
residents only.
The bond issue offered in multiples of $1,000 will be available from April 1, 2012 to December 31 , 2012 or until sold out. We
invite you to refer to documentation regarding this bond issue on the ABSCAN website.
Mr. Vincent noted that this investment product allows Natives to take advantage of a financing mechanism adapted to their
needs that also contributes to promoting their economic development. He further added , "The creation of ABSCAN, initiated
by SaCCA, has responded to precise needs expressed by a large number of Aboriginal people over the years."
The primary goal of ABSCAN is to properly align the needs of investors and those of Aboriginal borrowers operating in the
context of Indian reserves.

First Nations and Inuit Education Position in the Department of Integrated Studies in
Education, McGill University
The Department of Integrated Studies in Education invites applications for a tenure-stream
appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Qualified candidates will hold a doctoral degree in pedagogy or the equivalent, with experience
directly related to teaching in First Nations and Inuit contexts and will be able to demonstrate a
research program related to this area. Knowledge of Canadian First Nations and Inuit
communities will be an asset. The successful applicant will be expected to assume Directorship
of the Department's First Nations and Inuit Education program, which includes liaison with
partners throughout Quebec. Responsibilities will include teaching and student-teacher
supervision at the B.Ed. level as well as teaching and thesis supervision in our MA and PhD
programs. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2012. Experience working in schools and an
ability to function in French will be assets for this position .
The Department of Integrated Studies in Education is a vibrant research environment that
includes colleagues from many areas of research and teaching. The mission of the Department of
Integrated Studies in Education is to advance knowledge and research in education in Quebec,
Canada and internationally. The Department is also committed to working in partnership with

Summary of the rel'ponsibillties
While respectIng the mission, orientations, values and general policies of the FNQLHSSC and urider the
supervision of the Social ServIces Manager, the Incumbent is responsible for advising and supporting the
communities, the agents of the National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) as well as the
First Nations treatment centres in the areas of addIctions prevention, intervention and treatment.
Furthermore, he/she must contribute to capacity-building among the health and social Interveners in
his/her field of e)(pertlse.
More specifically:
•
Acting as a contact person in the area of addictions prevention, Intervention and treatment for the
communities, the interveners of the NNADAP network as well as for the organisation, by making his/her
expertise available to all.
•
Developing and maIntaining a network of contacts with the First Nations organisations and partners as
well as with the different counterparts among the various levels of government.
•
Developing effective information and awareness tools and ensuring their production and disseminatIon.
•
Planning, orgimlslng, coordinating and/or supporting and promoting activities and programs In such fl
way as to foster mobilisation among the community members.
•
Participating in meetings, committees and/or concerted action tables with various partners related to
his/her field of actIon and coordinating the meetings of th~ Treatment Centres' Network in addition to
the different activities of the working group In charge.
•
Ensuring monitoring and making recommendations In order to ensure the continuous updating of the
services provided In his/her field of action.
•
Developing and adapting Intervention tools and models and best practices In collaboration with the
Interveners of the communities.
•
Responding to the occasional assistance requests of the community health and soc1al services
interveners by offering professional advice in connection with the continuum of first-line services.
•
Identifying the training and support needs of the community Interveners and making the ne'cessary
recommendations on the subject.

Collaborating in the development and/or adaptation of training programs and material that are
