Dear Barringer S.T.E.A.M. Family:
I hope your new year has gotten off to a great start! Thanks for your support and interest in
partnering with us, as we explore a new phase in our community work. We have heard your
requests and we are excited to begin implemention of a new Parent-Teacher-Student Organization
(PTSO) or Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA). Attached, you will find information to
outline the differences between the two groups, candidacy descriptions, and roles. You can also
find this information on our webpage http://www.nps.k12.nj.us/BARSTEAM/
Prospective dates are as follows:





January 13th - 15th, 2015 – Voting for the PTSO vs. PTSA. Now is the time to make your
voices heard. You are encouraged to select the organization of your choice. Simply make a
selection and return the ballot from the bottom of this letter by January 15th.
Deadline: Friday, January 16th –Interested candidates can sign up through the school
website or in the main office.
January 20th, 2015 – Staff will touch base with candidate(s) to inform them of the
requirements for speeches.
Thursday, January 22nd at 5 pm – Election speeches meeting will be held
o Candidates will give 2 minute speeches and are encouraged to submit a short
biography to be posted on the school’s website.
o Voting will take place on-site via paper ballot.
o Winners will be announced at the end of the meeting.
Please note that there is ONLY one vote per person.

¡Espero que su nuevo año haya tenido un gran comienzo! Gracias por su apoyo e interés en
asociarse con nosotros, a medida que exploramos una nueva etapa en nuestro trabajo comunitario.
Hemos escuchado sus peticiones y estamos muy contentos de comenzar la implementación de una
nueva Organización de Padres, Maestros y Estudiantes (PTSO) o la Asociación de Padres, Maestros
y Estudiantes (PTSA). Adjunto, usted encontrará información para delinear las diferencias entre los
dos grupos, descripciones de candidatura y los roles. También puede encontrar esta información en

Las posibles fechas son las siguientes:





13 a 15 de enero de 2015 - La votación para el PTSO vs. PTSA. Ahora es el momento de
hacer oír su voz. Se le anima a elegir la organización de su elección. Basta con hacer una
selección y regresar la boleta al final de esta carta antes del 15 de enero.
Fecha límite: Viernes, 16 de enero - Candidatos interesados pueden inscribirse a través
de la página web o en la oficina de la escuela.
20 de enero de 2015 - El personal se contactara con el/los candidato(s) para informarles
de los requisitos para los discursos
Jueves, 22 de enero a las 5pm - Reunión de discursos electorales se llevará a cabo
o Los candidatos darán un discurso de 2 minutos y se les anima presentar una breve
biografía que se publicará en la página web de la escuela
o La votación se llevará a cabo durante la reunión por medio de boleta de papel.
o Los ganadores se darán a conocer al final de la reunión.
