LIFETEEN MASS (Parishioners) Life Night
NOVEMBER 29, 2015
The new liturgical year begins this weekend with
the start of Advent. This Season of Advent has a
dual purpose: to prepare us for Christmas, when we
commemorate Christ’s first coming among us and
that remembrance directs our minds and hearts to
await Christ’s Second Coming in glory. The Gloria is omitted at
Mass during Advent. Our Advent Penance Service will be held
this Thursday at 6:30 PM. We have 12 priests scheduled to
participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Many thanks to
everyone that contributed to the Pregnancy Care Center baby
bottle donation. More than $1,100 was collected as a result of
your generosity. We have received $26,086.68 towards our
Priests’ Retirement and Benefits fund goal of $38,887.68 (a
shortfall of $12,801). Please prayerfully consider honoring our
retired priests through a donation to this fund. Many thanks to
everyone that has already contributed. Special thanks to the
Hispanic Men’s Emmaus group for their tremendous landscaping
work near the main church entrance. Have a Happy Advent
Season!
–Sincerely Yours in Christ Fr. Larry
LoMonaco

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT
How much of your time, other than an hour on Sunday, do you
give back to God for the many blessings that you have received?
Give of your time, talent and treasure until you feel good about your
FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
gift, and your heart knows that you have done something for
God!
ADVENT PENITENTIAL SERVICE
What is the greatest gift I can give the Lord Jesus on
His Birthday? The gift of a clean and free heart!
Make plans to attend our Advent Penitential
Service this Thursday, December 3rd at 6:30 PM.
Fr. Larry and Fr. Nohé will be joined by several
brother priests for the Service. Come and receive
this sacramental gift of forgiving grace and
healing. Please note: All parish meetings have been cancelled to
enable everyone to attend the Service.

Sacrament of Reconciliation December 2, 23, & 30.

CHURCH HUMOR!
Two sailors were adrift on a raft in the ocean. They had just about
given up all hope that they would be rescued. One of the men
began to pray, “O Lord, I’ve led a worthless life and neglected my
children. I have been unkind to my wife, but if you’ll save me, I
promise I’ll…” “Hold it!” the other shouted, “I think I see land!”
NUESTRO SEÑOR JESUCRISTO
REY DEL UNIVERSO
Gloria y Poder a Jesús el Cordero, por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.

If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic
Church, either to become a member, or as a Catholic to
deepen and enrich your knowledge, RCIA classes meet on
Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM in the Parlor. Our next
session will be on December 2 when the topic will be,
“Advent and the Liturgical Year.”
Why do we light votive candles? The practice
of lighting candles before the Lord goes back to
the Old Testament. God required the Israelites to
maintain lamps burning before the Holy of Holies
(Exodus 40). A candle must also burn perpetually
before the Real Presence in the Eucharist (The large candle that is
always lit to the right side of our tabernacle) as it did before God’s
Presence in the temple. A person who lights a votive candle makes
an offering and places an intention before the Lord. The candle
symbolizes their intention. It can also stand for their presence in
prayer before God, and their union, as a Christian, with Christ the
light of the world.
ANGEL TREES
There are still many angels available on the Angel Tree for a
family or families to take. Follow the directions on the angel and
bring the gift, wrapped or unwrapped as directed on the angel, to
the location indicated. If you take an angel, please follow through.
Last year we had some angels that were not returned with a gift. If
you
have
questions,
please
contact
